Have you already started it? Why did you choose this? How do you get 1500 calories in one meal while still getting sufficient nutrients?
When I was losing weight I stuck to two big meals and then a couple small snacks.6 -
I have been doing it for more than 2 years. In my opinion, omad goes best with keto. I couldn't bear doing one meal a day with high carbs because I would be in and out of ketosis and that would give me mood swings. On the now defunct /r/omad subreddit, most users were on a high carb diet, but that never worked for me.0

You basically add all the food you would/should eat in one day and you eat it in a window of 1 hour or so. The added bonus is that it gives you the motivation and the discipline to avoid snacks that you would forget to count.1 -

This has always been my question. I'm currently doing just two big meals plus occasional dessert (often something like cheese), and it's hard enough to get all my cals when I also meet my protein and nutrient goals (I like 2 meals for a deficit at the moment, since it fits my schedule and workout preferences, but will probably add another meal or snack for maintenance or if I change up my workout timing -- I lost 90 lbs back in the day doing 3 meals, no snacks).
There have been people here off and on who do it. I recall one guy who was really into it (he was pretty high carb), but he's not here anymore.2 -

There are certain nutrients that are higher in meats but you can't make that blanket statement as it would be wrong.
Btw OP, what is your goal? The issue with OMAD is the ability to get adequate protein. And you will end up limiting muscle protein synthesis which may affect your ability to sustain muscle.9 -

No, "a poster" (cmriverside) did not say that. The person who brought up keto was you. cmriverside asked OP: "[h]ow do you get 1500 calories in one meal while still getting sufficient nutrients?" I think many of us would have similar issues. I dislike feeling super stuffed, and even apart from that would have trouble getting sufficient protein, fiber, or veg in a single meal, although from your posts I suspect my idea about what sufficient veg is (based on my own goals) or sufficient fiber is quite different from yours (and was when I was doing keto too).
OP may or may not have such issues, but it's a fair question and something worth thinking about.7 -

I attempted to find research (from a reputable source) backing your opinion that meat has more nutrients than vegetables and instead kept coming up with websites and research that proposed eating more veg.
I personally eat almost no veggies (simply don’t like them), so I was all for getting everything I need from meat (and my lovely starchy carbs), but it would appear that your blanket statement is inaccurate. So, unless you wish to present your evidence (real evidence not some paleo blog or other ridiculous info) I shall have to go with your statement appears to be inaccurate.
@mariomicro typically the individual making the claim would present evidence to back it not claim that other posters need to find evidence to debunk their claim. 🤷🏻♀️6 -

Not sure why it warranted a disagree. There are endless diet choices because we are all individuals. I would also fail miserably on OMAD, so I’m curious as to why OP would choose this. Maybe they feel they would enjoy it..... or maybe it’s just the fad of the week wherever they are in the world 😜2 -

Not sure why it warranted a disagree. There are endless diet choices because we are all individuals. I would also fail miserably on OMAD, so I’m curious as to why OP would choose this. Maybe they feel they would enjoy it..... or maybe it’s just the fad of the week wherever they are in the world 😜
I mean... It would help with my hatred of needing to decide WHAT to eat all the time... But I think all I would do is think about the food I couldn't eat! Haha2 -

No, your statement was"Meat has more nutrients, especially vitamins, than fruit and veggies". This is a false blanket statement. Meat has higher levels of iron, B vitamins and cobalamin. Most fruits and veggies have more potassium, magnesium, vitamin c, vitamin A, etc...Both are very valuable. I can tell you, even when I focus on fiber, I often come short of the recommended amounts. For males, the recommended about is about 38g. That is more than most people following keto eat.
So even if we ignore the keto vs non for having one meal a day. The OP would need to aim for about 25g of fiber and 90-120g of protein (typical needs for a women). How likely do you think those targets would be hit?
OP, if you could expand on what your goals are, that would be awesome. At that point, we could provide a better recommendation.

My point was one meal a day would make it tough to get enough fruits, vegetables, fiber. Period. I acknowledged that KETO would work. This entire highjacking of the thread was unnecessary.

I do OMD. It works with my lifestyle and enjoy it. Of course it’s not for everyone. Try out a few types of eating patterns to see what works best with you.3

I have been doing some form of IF (16/8-20/4 depending on whatever life has going on) for 7 mths. Life-changing for me! Not only have I lost weight and inches, but I feel amazing. My inflammation is gone. I have more energy than I can remember. I just feel young and vibrant, a feeling I haven't had in 13 yrs! I do OMAD 3-4 days a week. I don't do Keto. I just eat real, whole foods about 80% of the time and reserve the right to eat crap 20% of the time, when the urge arises. I LOVE food and do not feel deprived at all. It may not be for everyone, but it is my lifestyle. Please don't feel the need for any negative feedback, I am an RN with a secondary degree in fitness and nutrition. I have done the scientific research before I ever started this journey. Again, just sharing my experience. Not for everyone, but it is for me. Have a Merry Christmas y'all!

I am on a keto diet, started with intermittent fasting but as the months go along I'm just not hungry in the day so I end up having dinner as my main meal, and maybe some snacks for a few hours after that. I can plan out everything and it just makes life simpler. I feel great (not tired!) and am close to reaching my goal weight. It took a lot of eduction on what and when to eat to let this happen. I did keto before in a not-healthy way and had bad cravings. Not this time!2
