Women 200lb+, Let's Keep On Fighting This February!!!

Yes the scale doesn't measure our worth is always a good reminder. I mostly handle the upticks well but when it continues I need that reminder.
Weight trend is heading up but hoping it'd due to TOM as that tracking app notified that is supposed to come this weekend. Let's hope so. When it's been delayed I've been miserable and then once it comes it all goes away.
Last night just so very tired that I didn't go to the gym. Didn't shovel snow either. Might go tonight if I remember those clothes before my dentist appt tonight; otherwise won't get there until Sat. As long as my food is controlled I'm okay with the occasional gym night as I've done once a week until switching gyms since they opened.5 -
Howdy all,
February is off to a strange start. Ended up being extremely sick for the last week, so I haven't been able to work out as I had been. This is probably going to result in me not quite hitting my February goal, but - oh well. It happens. Anything is better than nothing.

Rough day yesterday, drowned my anxiety in food, but back on track today. Log food , drink water , snack sensible..,..10
-
@pearsonlinda30 Every day is a chance to do better, good job not letting one bad day totally derail you. I hope whatever had you so anxious is resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible.
@Emheia I hope you're feeling better soon!
So, I never got that bowl of popcorn yesterday, LOL. Hubs texted me about an hour before I got off of work, saying he was jonesing hard for BBQ. That sounded way better than the leftover frozen-and-thawed moussaka we still need to eat, so I agreed, then set to work scouring the BBQ place's menu to figure out what I could eat. BBQ restaurants aren't generally known for their lighter fare options, and this one features one and only one vegetable side on the menu, which I don't care for (collard greens). It's a local place, so I had to guesstimate from entries for a similar BBQ chain, and took home half of my meat, but I still managed not to break the bank (or eat the leftovers 2 hours later - they'll make a fine sandwich this weekend, I'm sure).6 -
Today hasn’t been my day. Today I’m giving myself sometime to grieve and be sad. I woke up to the news that one of my aunts (who was actually not much older than myself) has unexpectedly passed away hours after having received her second dose of the COVID vaccine. I’m not trying to instil fear in anyone just wanting to vent what has happened in my family. We are all in so much shock. Her daughter only just got engaged 3 days ago and now this. So today I’m just taking a timeout.
Life is just so fragile. Hug your loved ones, cherish the moments you spend together because life can be cut short when you least expect it.
Just some stats, might do a better update next week. Sorry for the downer everyone.

@mumof6sv You have my sincerest condolences. I will be praying for your comfort as you mourn the loss of your aunt.3

Friday Weigh-in
Feb 19: 206 - Down .4 lbs.
Thoughts:
I'm slightly baffled by the scale. The last time I was on this journey, whenever I made tweaks (increased calories, decreased calories, varied my exercise, increased water intake, etc.) the scale would move down. That is not happening this time. Well, it's happening some, but really slowly. I'll try upping my vegetables and adding some fruit (not my favorite) to my diet. I reckon I'll have to begin consuming smoothies again, which is the only way I'll be able to easily get the fruit in.
Hoping this upcoming week is FRUITful for all of us! 😀5 -
@mumof6sv I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. You have made very good progress this week, though - I hope you'll allow yourself a moment to be proud of that!
@Laughter_Girl When it comes to weight loss, the only thing that matters is calories in < calories out. As long as you maintain that deficit it does not matter what you're actually eating, you will lose fat. Don't force yourself to eat foods you don't like just because you think you're supposed to eat them, that's a recipe for burnout and "to heck with this apple BS, I'm having a g--d--- donut" types of feelings. (There is something to be said for nutrition and satiety, but those are only tangentially relevant to the calorie deficit required for weight loss.) Slow and steady is the way for weight loss, and remember that water fluctuates much more readily than fat and can mask fat loss over time especially for women.5 -
It's Friday weigh-in time!
Age: 29
Height: 5'3"
Original SW: 252.8 lb as of 11/13/2020
Month SW: 243.8 lb as of 1/29/2021
Weigh-in Progress:
2/5: 243.1
2/12: 241.4
2/19: 239.8
2/26:
GW for February: 238 lb
GW for 2021: 196 lb
I'm trying very hard not to get ahead of myself, but I'm thrilled with my progress this week and fully expect to get within spitting distance of my monthly GW next Friday. This process feels very doable in a way that it hasn't for a long time, and it's hard not to get excited. I think I'm going to set my UGW at 144lb - that's 1lb per week for 2 years, so I'm aiming to reach that goal by the end of 2022. Maybe when I get there I'll want to go lower, but ultimately I want to be stronk like binch who fight bear in the forest.10 -

Hi all❣️ Happy weekend❣️
I’ve been gone a while. Working on my recovery. This morning I sat on the side of my bed to wash and get dressed. It was a shining accomplishment❣️
I’m still in a wheelchair but hope to be on my feel by April. That’s my goal. 🤞🏽

Yes, I reached my goal weight during my recovery. I hope to maintain my weight loss and my recovery. The doctors say my recovery will occur over a year. I’m going to devote my time and energy to achieving that goal.14 -
@pamiede welcome back, and congratulations!! This internet stranger is proud of you!2

Not only does my new scale weigh me 5 lbs more than my last one but it apparently only goes in one direction - up.
However since I was having issues with logging food this week we might not want to put all the blame on it. It was a short work week. I didn't get as much exercise. I did better by the end of the week when I was less busy. I was to get my 2nd vaccination this weekend but it was cancelled due to delay in vaccination deliveries with the snow and freezing weather. We just got a rescheduled appointment time for next week. Phew! I did better with planning meals and ordering groceries despite our dairy delivery being cancelled last Monday due to snow that day. I made some great meals: tortilla soup, lamb meatloaf with yogurt sauce. We had mashed potatoes and cauliflower with that. My husband made oven fried chicken thighs to die for. Tonight we have left over tortilla soup and tomorrow pork pot roast ( I avoid beef due to iron overload). My husband made blueberry scones last weekend (Valentine's day) so we had them for breakfast early this week. Based on my post logging, I actually have stayed under my calorie goal but Tuesday was highest. That was the day we picked up groceries and got take out hamburgers. I got something I haven't had for years (almost 10). A milkshake or mocha malt to be exact. Our Valentine's days plans were disrupted due to snow so I figured this was my Valentine's day treat. I shared it with my husband so it wasn't too bad. Don't need another one for another 5-10 years now. During the snow we had to eat what we had in the house so it was nice to go back to having planned meals and groceries again.
So this coming week I need to get back on track with logging. Although we have meals until tomorrow it is time to plan and get ready to order for the week. At least we will have our dairy deliveries again on Monday. I also need to do better with water intake, and exercise.4 -
Goals for the rest of February: To get back to the weight that my old scale said so that I am under 250 by new scale. Which will be a loss of over 6 lbs.
- Get 8+ glasses of water, log in calories daily, get enough sleep and stay under my calorie goal.
- Up N.E.A.T. (steps, stairs, cleaning and cooking)
- Get regular exercise:2 strength training a week (1 with weights and 1 with resistance bands), 5 days of exercise (Start with 25 minutes and work up to 45-60 minutes for most days)
- Meal plan so we avoid grocery shopping and make healthy meals at home. Limit take out to once a week.
- Take another step towards lowering sugar intake./ Get more fiber
- Wait to have breakfast until I feel hungry while I am working remotely.

@mumof6sv so sorry for your loss. Sending support and strength your way.
@pamiede I've not doubt you can hit that April goal, you're making a great recovery!
I've just started a free trial of Openfit, has anyone used it? Just tried a live barre class and a recorded stretching class today. I like the live trainer encouragement, and it's less than €100 for a whole year. Figure it's worth a go as lockdown here in Ireland isn't being lifted until summer based on the latest government announcement.
Had a few drinks last night whilst Zooming with a friend in New York. Felt a bit ropey today, but had a craving for fruit and veggies (always what my body wants on a hangover!). Managed to get up off my backside and go for a 45 min stroll into town to treat myself to a few things at the fancy grocery store and still stayed under my calories, rather than what I would have done before and ordered fast food delivery and blown my limit. Not to mention that I could well have also ordered food when I was drinking last night, despite already having had dinner. The fresh air also cleared my head - small successes!4 -

45 active minutes/day: 5/7
Didn't do so well with exercise, but I'm happy I adjusted my calories accordingly and managed to stay within my goal range all week.

Things are slowed way down for me, but the regular variation is at least as low on the low end as I have ever gotten, so right now what with everything going on, I'll take it. Once I get vaccinated I'll feel okay going to the gym, and being able to shove weight around will help. (I have loose joints so using machines that don't let me sprain my joints dropping the weights wrong is the way I have to do it.) I really miss that.
I do stand and "do" more on a regular basis, so that's a good development, even if the last two days have been a hard fibro flare with a lot of pain. But tomorrow is another day, and we'll see how it does for me.5 -
@AlexandraFindsHerself Your valentine’s day sounds nice. My Mom has a birthday that day too. My daughter put our overgrown kittens on leashes and let them play in the snow for a few minutes.
@jennordhavn I was thinking about an overnight at a hotel on Valentines Day too but then we decided that we weren’t going to risk it until after we get our 2nd vaccination which was to be a few day after and then it takes a couple of weeks to get to full immunity. Then we got snowed in so no take out either and we would have had to cancel the trip to the hotel anyway. Your Valentine’s day sounds very nice.
@Tarzan37 I think I am a spring loser, I lose slowly in the summer. However I struggle from late fall to late winter.
@changeforeverlj yes quite a milestone!
@WasteNotWench Valentine’s day, a 3 day weekend and snow did throw off my routines for me too. I did go out for a snowy walk and short cross country skiing down my street but I think it is hard to beat a good healthy routine
@Angief05 I am enjoying all the Valentines’ day stories but yours is hard to beat! Congratulations. I have one son settled. Our youngest seems to have a steady relationship now but with COVID 19 it is hard to date. My niece had to postpone her wedding in Hawaii. It wasn’t a destination wedding. Their family is there.
@wanderinglight and @AchievingMyDreams We didn’t have to coax Ambrose inside. Looking back on it he was in charge. I was fine with him being an outdoor cat because I am allergic and my son who visits is too but he wasn’t having any of it. We bought him a cat house and put a warming pad in it. Norwegian Forest cats don’t have the same fur that other cats have. They have more like down fur with a water proof layer of fur on top of that. Both layers are very long and soft. They are meant for the cold. I was petting him one day. He was on our deck railing and he literally put his 2 paws on each of my shoulders and pulled me into a hug. So I can see why you are worried about Patches. She seems to have some good survival skills though. So I think I am not the one to coach you on getting Patches inside. Ambrose worked on my daughter to let him in and then he worked on the rest of us. I found out I wasn’t as allergic to him anyway. I came home one day and he was doing a good job trying to scare a raccoon away from his food and water dishes. So we gave up and started to let him come and go as he wanted. Ambrose took a while to warm up to my husband though. I think he had bad past experiences with men. However my husband is the one who makes sure the cats are fed so soon Ambrose thought he was pretty cool even though he pets cats like they are dogs. So that is the way to Patches heart. Just let him know you care and let him set the path. Once Ambrose started to come inside we talked to a vet and they gave us a sedative to put into his food so we could get him into a cat carrier and take him in for shots etc. By that time he trusted my daughter or he knew he had her wrapped around his little claw. I am already a little bit in love with Patches. Cats are like that. You have to take them on their own terms especially when you don’t meet them when they are kittens.
@Goal06082021 I love BBQ. The last restaurant I was in was a BBQ place for my birthday last year the 1st week of March. People were getting nervous but restaurants weren’t closed but they were starting to take precautions. This birthday it will be take out even though restaurants are open on a limited basis.
@mumof6sv I am sorry to hear of your loss. I have heard of a similar case in the news. 6 people have received a vaccination in my family and I will be getting mine with my husband this coming week.
@pamiede Knowing you from this thread I am betting that you will make your goal. Always am glad when I see one of your posts. Take care!3 -
@pamiede Good to read your post! Well done on reaching goal weight, I wish you well on your total recovery, you are an amazing strong woman and I am insipired by your journey xoxo2

Thank you everyone for your kind words of support.
Friday really was a bad day. Not only did my aunt die. My treadmill decided enough was enough and stopped working. Then I got a call from my daughters school saying that she had a bad fall and was in a lot of pain. Got to the hospital only to be told she’s broken her elbow. So this weekend I’ve been pretty much eating at maintenance and I changed my workouts to Leslie sansone workout videos and going at a slower pace as my knee is acting up a little. Not expecting much of a loss this week weight wise. Despite everything that’s happened I’m determined to keep with this journey even if it means eating at maintenance and not overeating, that in itself is a huge acheivement in my books.12 -
@mumof6sv Oh goodness, when it rains, it pours! I hope your daughter's elbow heals quickly. I love that you're proactively saying "I'm switching to maintenance" and not "I'll get back on the wagon when life stops happening," because life sure has a way of happening, doesn't it? You're right, it is a huge achievement, and this internet stranger is proud of you.6
-
@mumof6sv “I’m sorry” let’s you know I care but just doesn’t cut it some days, does it? Sending you a giant socially distant hug—the only kind I want from a stranger. I hope your daughter is healing quickly for all of your sakes, as well.
Life has been trying to take the mickey out of me for a few years now, with one death after another. Oddly enough, now that my beloved, vibrant, always-younger-than-me mum is coping with cancer and I’ve upended my family’s lives to be at her side, fitness has become my sanity and lifeline. May you find something equally useful to calm and center you on those extra rough days. With love.6 -
@mumof6sv So sorry to hear of the loss of your aunt. Your poor daughter, that must have been so sore! Goodluck with maintaining and sticking to walking,I've done 100s of leslie's videos on utube they work!!

@pearsonlinda30 I'm sure everyone on this thread can relate to drowning their anxiety with food!! Hope your next meal went better and you are back on track with your plan x

Ok. I was initially a little upset since my weight this week has been all over apparently. I did do all my measurements and I have lost 1.8inches in my waist since 2/6/2021 (the last time I measured). I almost did not update my stats because I just could not understand what is happening, but, I promised myself that I would be completely honest with my journey regardless of what is happening, that way, I can keep tracking how my body is reacting to things. So to anyone that this has happened to or that it is happening to, you are not alone.
I am now, going to continue studying for my midterms (all week long), I will keep tracking and doing my workouts while getting in my steps to meet my step goals and see what this next week brings.
Have a great week everyone. I will catch up with you all after my midterms.

Frustrated as mid-month has come around, and February is short so almost over now. I have not been doing so well. I am tracking what I eat and I go over almost every day. I want to be healthier just have a hard time doing it. along with not exercising I say I will do it I put it on my to-do list but doing everything but that. Any advice on jump-starting the motivation and the will to actually be healthier. Nearing 300 pounds you think that would be all the motivation needed. Instead, I feel like at times I just give up and am happy with the way I am. Even though deep down I know it is not normal to be this heavy, I feel it in my feet at times and other things that make me feel unhealthy. So another week down and at it again this week with the hope of making changes needed. More exercise, eat less, drink more water.8
-
@uyister - I've gained 8 pounds in 3 days. It's totally normal. Usually, the spikes are from:
1) Eating more carbs than usual
2) Being stressed, sleep deprived, injured or sore (physical and metal stress causes water retention).
3) Eating more salt than usual
4) Being constipated
The weight always, always, always comes off if I have a couple of low carb days, get a good nights sleep, and drink a lot of water.
Just relax and try not to let the weight spike get to you. Your whoosh will come.6 -
Weigh in on Saturday down 2 lbs even after a tough week at work. I'm on a staycation this week, puttering around painting and putting our house back together, from a recent window replacement project. We moved into my childhood home ayear ago and it has needed a lot of updating. So our lives have been Topsy tervy or in complete disarray for at least a year. We are on the downside with only a few major projects left. Goals for the rest of February keep tracking, start exercise on the 1stof march.7
