Yes I am, oddly more so mentally than physically. My drinking pals from the past aren't given me flak in the least.

I respect everyone on here who can limit themselves, which is something I just can't do and won't ever be there. It's my goal to be AF all this week to continue my streak to make it a month! Not easy but definitely worth it. I am already feeling better physically and mentally. Was looking through all the posts and congrats to all who hit their goals and thank you for posting you success stories...it helps a lot!
Nice work hanging in for a month.5 -

Big shoes to fill (or whatever the saying is--I'm not calling your feet big, @missmay! And I may need a tutorial ;-)6 -
AF this evening. Dinner out (Salmon Florentine with saute veggies) which was nice. I wanted to join DH in finishing the wine at our home and a glass at dinner but I held firm with the water with lemon. Then both DH & I had decaf coffee at home.
Tired and my arm is sore from the 2nd COVID vaccine but we are both doing fine. I understand that tomorrow might be different as the vaccine kicks in. We'll see. After the first vaccine shot we had no symptoms until the next day. DH had fever & chills for a bit about 36 hrs after the shot which were gone in ~3 hrs and I had a dull headache for a couple of days. Hence my reason for really not wanting to drink last night or tonight. Don't need a double whammy.
@mainelylisa - Thank you for picking up the ball for us on the kick off of the threads each month!
@MissMay - I really appreciate all that you've done! Thank you! Good luck with the downsizing. Is this the cleanup that you've been working on ... with the possibility of moving into a roving RV?

Update: Vaccine shot at 8:30am and around 11pm it finally hit both DH & I. Very rough night … headache, arm sore, chills/shivering, achy all over, little to no sleep. Going to try to push through it today and walk the dog but likely will be back in bed trying to sleep later today.
Sipping coffee … headache and fatigue is the only thing left now.
So very glad that I did not drink during this situation.8 -
Not every night has been successful, and Monday was probably my worst in terms of drinking. I deserved a hangover, but didn't have one...just horrible sleep.
I am sure all of you can commiserate that when you make the decision to drink (especially a few drinks), it leads to other bad decisions. I ended up waaaaay overeating, which led to stomach upsets, not sleeping well...etc. The snowball effect.
So yesterday, I pulled up my big girl panties and made a point to have a good day. AF, stayed under my calories and got a small amount of cardio in. I even was able to have a small dish of ice cream and stay within my calorie goal!
February's momentum has been slower than January. While I am having at least 2-3 AF days a week, it isn't what I was hoping. While that doesn't sound optimistic, I am using my motivation from yesterday to keep going!
@Lilylady3k hope you are able to rest and continue to improve!
@MissMay I feel like I am way behind on my reading comments, so whatever is happening I hope it is for good! You will still be on the thread? We adore you.8 -
I am going to miss you @MissMay! I do hope you pop in every now and then to "visit" us . Thanks to @mainelylisa who will be great at the role...
On day 24 AF here, hubs on day 16 AF I think. No issues to report, household is calm and happy....
Found this 1 minute "relaxation" exercise on youtube I really like:

AF last night so that is 18 out of 23 this month, in Jan I was 18 day AF total so I am on target to be AF more in February. I am rather proud of myself. I am feeling better and I have to say my complexion is actually starting to look a bit better. My face (nose) is not so red/purple looking it is (and my face) taking on more of a cream/blush color. I am using less makeup (not that anyone can see) to cover dark spots and discoloration. who knew?10

Got a couple more AF days in, and don't have calories for drinks tonight. Trying to settle into an AF M-Th pattern.
Week 1: 6.5 drinks, 3 AF days
Week 2: 5 drinks, 4 AF days
Week 3: 11 drinks, 3 AF days
2/22 - AF
2/23 - AF
My friend called me and asked me to be a groomsperson in his wedding last night. I of course said yes and I'm very excited and very much want to support him, but I'm also panicking a bit. All the photos I'm going to have to be in! I won't even take selfies with my husband that no one but us sees. I already wanted to lose a bunch of weight prior to this event where I see a ton of people I haven't seen in ten years, but now my deadline is moved up because I'll need to be fitted for a wedding party dress a month or two before the wedding. I know I'll feel a bit less self-conscious if I can lose at least 30 lbs before I'm locked into a dress size. Logically I know all the attention will be on the couple, and this isn't about me at all, so I'm feeling kind of ridiculous worrying about this. It would just be really nice to celebrate with them without feeling self-conscious. Lots of motivation for the next 346 days to limit the alcohol!

@MissMay
Thank you for all of your service.
I hope that you will still be a part of the thread although not moderating it any more.
@mainelylisa
Thank you for volunteering to keep us going.
This thread has made a huge difference in my life, and checking in daily is key for me.6 -
Hi
I originally decided to drink less in order to lose weight.
I have been on this thread since Nov 28.18
Thank you to @MissMay for keeping us going.
I am going to post with my usual diary style to keep track of my AF days.
I will be keeping to my usual goal of 16-20 AF days per month. It is manageable for me and doesn't put too much pressure on me. So far I have been able to keep with it. One month I raised the goal and failed miserably, so I learned from that. I think this is my sweet spot.
My rule for myself: No drinking 2 days in a row, strive for 2AF days in a row in between at minimum.
Sunday Feb 21 - AF - I will be tomorrow also to get my 2AF days in a row.
Monday Feb 21 - AF - Very early workday start tomorrow, so AF tonight. Always happy to see my 16 : - )
Tuesday Feb 23 - Drinks. I enjoyed them, but eat completely differently when I have alcohol for sure.
Rolling total 16AF days out of 23 days4 -

2 glasses of wine with dinner & then zoom book club. Crazy day yesterday... exhausted not sleeping during the night and ended up with long naps both in the morning and afternoon. DH had to work but ended up going to bed at 8pm since he too was sleep deprived.
I guess I did not have the will power to drink water when DH opened the bottle of wine I've not tried before.5 -
I, too, hope that @MissMay will be engaged here--I could never fill her supportive shoes. Just the starting-a-new-thread shoes!
I think I'm at 20 out of 15 planned drinks this month. I stress drank a shot (and a half? hard to tell when you don't measure) yesterday...thought I was going to lose my little 4-legged old girl this week, but she's on the rebound. I have to figure out how I'm going to handle this rainbow after dealing with one last year.
Just so glad to see so many people here supporting one another! And please don't stay away if the wine/Scotch/whatever devil gets the best of you. And I encourage you to share your struggles--not just your victories. I think by all of us sharing our struggles, it helps those of us who have been struggling. No one wants to fall off the planned drinks wagon, then pop on here to everyone doing a fabulous job 100% of the time.10 -
Day 25 AF here, day 17 AF for husband....
@chocolate_owl how fortunate you are to have something exciting to look forward to! I love weddings! Imagine it will be better than you ever dreamed of, and it will!
My days are getting better. I wake up happy. Mid-afternoon fatigue and sleepiness is gone! Hair texture and shine is way better. Running speed improved. No cravings, even skipped my non-alcoholic beer last night.
My next challenge exercise for the next few weeks is to work on removing barriers to my own success - barriers my brain is auto-generating that prevent me from realizing my goals.
I need to practice replacing any thoughts that prevent me from realizing my goals such as "fearful" thoughts and self-doubting thinking, examples:
1."I don't think I can"
2."I am not sure I can"
3."I don't know if I will"
4."Let's see what happens"
5."It will be too hard"
6."What will they think of me"
7."I am nervous I won't make it"
8. "I am scared of"
9. "Who knows what will happen"
10. "I won't be able to"
With "Confident Thinking".....
1. I can.....
2. I want to....
3. I have the power to....
4. I will...
5. My achievable plan is....
6. I will make this easy by...
7. I am in control...
8. I am taking charge...
9. I create my own destiny....
10. I follow my own path...
Each time I catch myself thinking or stating a fearful or self-doubting thought, I will record it and then write the replacement "confidence" thought next to it, then practice saying it. It's doesn't matter if I don't feel confident at the moment, it's a re-training exercise. The idea is correcting the thought to the point where it becomes more automatic.
Confident thoughts drive confident emotions which drive confident behaviors which then create the desired outcomes.9
