@goal06082021 Yeah, we were joking about the "sunshine state". Still, much better than the highs below zero that we had at home. It was my first time to Florida and it was nice to see all the different types of plants growing there and to see the gulf coast. Just beautiful. I had never seen such white sand before!2

@goal06082021 @kali31337 - Such a good point about us all having different mindsets and behaviors, just the same way we all have different physiology. I'm 100% a moderator when I'm "on the wagon", as long as I'm actively - preferably pre-logging - all my food I can just take a reasonable portion of whatever treat that works for now and put the rest back in the cupboard. When I'm not logging or tracking at all then if I want to eat a whole "share bag" of crisps at 1000cals a go then nothing is going to stop me, besides having to go out and get it!4

Hello all... I'm very new to the community and fresh on my weight loss journey (I've only just logged 7 days in a row haha).
I'll jump in with my cw/ugw etc when the March thread pops up but I wanted to say hello and give thanks to you all for sharing your journeys here... it's super motivating to see y'all working so hard (which means maybe I can too!!).
Sending love and good vibes out to y'all... good luck!!13 -
@jacconcia welcome! I just passed my 100-day streak (today is day 102). You can do it!
@emmclean you're so right about the pre-logging. I feel so functional when I'm able to pre-log an entire day including snacks. It's something I really should have noticed about myself much earlier - I shouldn't have taken nearly as long as I did to figure out meal prepping and pre-logging are so good for me, mentally and physically.
I'm not optimistic about tomorrow's weigh-in. I've been going over pretty much every day this week, sometimes by rather a lot, and I know I've been less active this month compared to January or December. There's no excuse for it, I'm (thankfully) not dealing with any Major Life Crap right now that could reasonably be expected to derail my progress. I think I'll step on the scale tomorrow morning (1) expecting an increase, (2) hoping for maintenance, and (3) being pleasantly surprised if it's a loss.
I *am* pretty excited for next month, though. I've changed up my workout plan to something that will be a LOT more fun than the "28-day beginner challenge" I pulled from runtastic for this month. Gonna do 30 minutes of Ring Fit Adventure, story mode on Tuesdays and Saturdays and minigames/focused sets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (legs/arms+abs/yoga respectively). Thursday mornings I now have about 5 hours between waking up and heading out to work, so I'm going to use that time to get in a nice long walk outside - there's a beautiful park about 10-15 minutes from my house with some lovely walking trails. A couple years ago I was wandering around there regularly a few times a week, then my work schedule changed and I wasn't able to get out there as much, so I'm glad I now have that kind of room in my schedule again.6 -
@goal06082021 What is Ring Fit Adventure- story mode?
1 -
@goal06082021 @kali31337 @emmclean I am totally an abstainer. If it is in the house, I can hear the siren call saying "i'm here, you want me, come get me" until I have to silence that voice with my mouth!!! I admire moderators more than you can know. The freezer is a help, I will admit.6

@spotteddingo Ring Fit Adventure is a video game for the Nintendo Switch console, where you fight monsters by exercising at them and save the world with the power of fitness, LOL. It uses controllers strapped to your leg and a Pilates ring to detect your movements, count reps, give you feedback on form, etc. There's a story mode, where you exercise to advance the plot (jog in place to move through the level, do various bodyweight moves to fight the monsters), as well as several mini-game modes where you can do different activities to target specific areas of the body. It's a lot of fun, if you have access to a Switch I highly recommend it. The music and character design are excellent, but that's like Nintendo's whole thing, so of course it is.3
-
@goal06082021- I thought it had to do with the Switch. My daughter was talking about that this week. It sounds like a fun way to get some exercise and something my daughter and husband might enjoy, too! I will look into it! Thanks.1

Some things I'm a moderator and others I'm a total abstainer. But some things for months I can moderate and then a mood switch occurs and there goes the rest of whatever. I don't keep most things such as sweets or chips in the house most of the time though. I do allow things if I'm having it away from the house. If I really want something I'll plan it into the calories and work around that or plan to be higher that day.
I'm doing the happy scale dance today. Scale is going back down again. I've been used to fluctuations for a few days but don't think I really had seen a full week+ of the scale continuing to go up each day even though I was doing things in line. That was a tough one.7 -
Really depressing day for me. I moved here with my daughter and grandchildren to Guam from the US a few months ago. I am disabled and was planning on applying for SSI here in Guam, but found out I cannot get it here on the islands. This was a big blow for me because I have always been financially independent and I now have to rely on my daughter. I ask for very little but have asked her to purchase healthy food for me because she does not eat healthily. She did buy a few things a couple of weeks ago but it wasn't much and is gone. I applied for food stamps over two months ago and should be receiving them so I could at least make some of my own food choices, but human services here does not follow the law when it comes to processing applications, nor do they answer the phone or respond to emails. It is necessary to go there in person and raise hell to get them. My daughter has been promising me repeatedly to go and get it resolved but she never does. Today I asked her if she would please pick me up a loaf of thin-sliced 21-grain bread but she refused, stating it was too expensive. I would be understanding if I didn't watch here constantly go to fast food places, buy cigarettes and soda etc. I realize it is her money to do with as she chooses but at the same time I do babysit my grandchildren so it's not like I am not contributing. I feel as if this is a control issue and it is very hurtful. I now find myself having to starve myself to stay within my goals since there are no healthy food choices in the house. It is just very depressing and very discouraging. We also buy bottled water since the tap water is iffy and I am being limited on how much I can drink of that per day. I am allowed 2 water bottles so about 32 ounces. Her boyfriend and she are making good money so that isn't the issue. I am sorry this is sooo long for anyone who took the time to read this, I just really, really need to vent. I don't want to give up and throw in the towel so I'm trying to clear my mind. Thanks for listening.

So a brief summary of what I did write.

Well, ladies, looks like it's not gonna happen for me this month. That's OK. I'm just glad to see maintenance and not an increase. It would be nuts to expect a loss given how much I've gone over budget this week, so I'm not disappointed about that...well, I am, but disappointed in myself for snacking too much, not disappointed that my body didn't magically burn extra calories without me having to do anything. Like I said yesterday, I'm expecting those numbers to start going down again next month, probably.
I'm going to take body measurements this weekend. I took measurements at the end of January and decided to make that a monthly thing, in addition to the weekly weigh-in. I remeasured myself for a bra at the beginning of January, so I have some data to compare; of course I didn't think to take measurements on Day 1 in November, but I do have BWH measurements from when I was wedding-dress shopping back in August, so I have some kind of baseline for comparison.7 -
@mumof6sv OMG, I do that ALL the time. The app is terrible, I much prefer to access the forums on the desktop site. Great job this month!3

My girlfriend went to the doctor yesterday because of the sebaceous cyst on her back that will need removal at some point. (They said, wait till it starts to fill up again, then call us and we'll take it out.) She was weighed, came home and said, "I'm dying. Things have to change. I HAVE to go to the gym and start moving, regardless of COVID risk." So we are going to get up and go together every morning, and while I shove and pull weights, she is going to get in the pool and walk around. It's not a big start, but she weighs 443 pounds and has a ruptured disk giving her sciatica, so this is a beginning she can do.
And she'll help me. I'd been staying out of the gym for her sake; I didn't want to bring COVID home to her. But if she's going, then I'll go, and needing to take her will get me there even on the days where I don't "feel like" doing anything.
(I have exercise intolerance, so what I have to do is do very low-stress exercise every single day and stop when my heart rate increases or I feel it at all in the muscles. That way I can sort of sneak in the fitness without triggering a bout of exhaustion or a flare.)6 -
Been a little under the weather this past week (and lost my logging streak), was just tired. I'm feeling better now and back at the gym. However, I'm going to give it a week before daring to step on scale.9

Friday Weigh-in
Feb 26: 204.4 - Down 1.6 lbs
Thoughts:
It was a good week and nice to see progress. I think the additional fruits and veggies paid off. I know the model is a long as one eats within their allotted calories, they will lose weight, but I don't just want to lose weight. I really want to be healthy. So, for me that means eating more fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes and nuts. I want to reduce - not eliminate - my intake of processed vegetarian meatless products, which I plan to challenge myself to do this upcoming week. Finally, I want to continue consistently exercising and drinking my water.
I have a lot of life left to live, and I want to be able to enjoy it to the fullest.
Hoping March will be a success for all of us!4 -
@BethWallace1 Definitely praying for you. It's obvious you are frustrated and seemingly discouraged, and that's understandable. Hang in there.
@mumof6sv Been there for that... more than once. It's so annoying. Congrats on your loss though. You're on fire!
@goal06082021 Good job maintaining! Although you may have went over your daily goals, you obviously didn't go crazy. That's worth mentioning. I think I'll measure myself too. I haven't done that in forever, and it can be a great motivator when the scale is not cooperating.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Enjoy your time at the gym and just be safe. You and your friend encouraging one another along the way will help I'm sure. It's great to have that support.
@IsETHome So glad you're feeling better. May the scale be friendly to you when the time comes.
@pamiede Luck is for leprechauns. All you need is will power and determination. You've got this. Congrats on reaching goal number one!4 -
@pamiede Congratulations on achieving your goal, and so much more actually!! Your strength and perseverance are inspiring to me and I'm sure to other ladies following your posts xoxo2

WOW!!!! It has been a rollercoaster month for me!! Finally at 90lbs lost!! I had this as my February goal in the back of my mind, but was not sure that it would happen, but, it did!! Just finished midterms and they were brutal!! I was able to keep up with my workouts during midterms week, which is huge for me. Eating deteriorated a little with stress and all, but, surprisingly, I stayed within my goals (most days). Passed all exams, so resting up this weekend and doing basic chores like boiling and filtering my water and doing laundry. My plans this weekend are to get in my workouts (including at least 1 hr of yoga or pilates or stretching) and steps and lay on the couch to watch the hobbit or lord of the rings trilogy and sleep anytime I feel it coming on!!
I know I have missed a lot of posts over the last few weeks, but, I hope everyone is doing okay and remaining safe and healthy!! See you in the March thread!!
@speyerj and @KeriA You were both right. Thank you!!9
