Hey MFP, I’m starting 75HARD on Wednesday.
Just wondering if anyone else has done it and how it went?

Sorry This challenge is a bit too random, and partially also unhealthy. Drinking a gallon of water is too much and might flush out important electrolytes. 2x sport per day? Most people won't manage without getting injured. And starting again if you had one M&M? That's just a bit silly. In my opinion of course.5

Hell no. If I wanted to create a bunch of dumb rules I'd create my own rather than adopt someone else's!
Follow a diet - why? I'm happy making my own choices.
2 x 45min workouts - individual duration is far too short for my exercise goals. I can manage my training and recovery far better than that.
No alcohol or cheat meals - I enjoy a moderate amount of alcohol and who would I cheat by eating?
Take a progress picture - sounds a bit self-obsessed.
1 gallon of water - that's frankly idiotic. What a stupid way to manage your hydration needs.
10 pages of reading - why ten?
If you want a set of rules to live by I'd suggest writting your own list as I'm sure you could do a better job of it.10 -

I’ve adopted the rules as I won’t be taking daily pics, rather weekly. I read more than 10pages a day already and the water I already do.
For me, it’s being accountable and cutting out alcohol and treats.
I guess each to their own.5 -

Sorry This challenge is a bit too random, and partially also unhealthy. Drinking a gallon of water is too much and might flush out important electrolytes. 2x sport per day? Most people won't manage without getting injured. And starting again if you had one M&M? That's just a bit silly. In my opinion of course.
This is not entirely true. I drink a gallon or more of water daily and have for years. if you work and sweat you need to do so... maybe not if you are sedentary all day, but everyone has different needs4 -

The way I read the program is 90 minutes per day, 7 days a week.1 -

Yes, one of your workouts has to be outside and can be a walk. So 45mins of walking and 45mins of bodyweight exercises or stretching/core or lifting.
You wouldn’t lift 7 days a week.

Hmm interesting, I can't do that with my schedule but I'm on my feet all day at work.1 -
I did it. there were a few days I asked myself why.. but overall I gained some great habits. My outside workout was walking every day, that taught me not to make excuses about weather or planning and I listened to some great podcasts, and my dog was super happy. My second workout was weights, yoga, or YouTube videos. I was not there to get injured, that's for sure. The avoiding sugar and alcohol was very helpful, I had gotten in a bad habit of having a drink every night after dinner that I needed to break. Having a time limit on it (75 days) gave me a target to strive for and feel like it wouldn't last forever. I already read and drink water, some of my water went in my protein shake, and hot tea, coffee ,and green powder. so it didn't seem like too much after the first few days. I stuck to my diet which was IIFYM so that was flexible. I had a couple of sugar free treats that fit. strangely the worst part was taking the pics. I hate pictures of myself, but doing it every day made me get over it and focus on the positive as time went by. I needed a reset, because I felt I had lost my mojo and I liked the mentality of me vs myself in order to get my self respect back. So if you need a kick in the pants and some consistency I don't think it's a bad thing to do. it doesn't have to be CRAZY like everyone makes it out to be.3

I read about it. The rules were random and there is no ability to customize for your own lifestyle and preferences, which I consider to be important for any weight management or fitness program.1

You don’t have to stick to it rigidly. I’m taking the concept and outline but making it my own.1 -

I mean, I don't want to be a nitpicky jerk, but if you're making it your own, the guy who developed it would say you're not really doing it. He's very explicit about that on his front page. Also, I think he's full of crap and you should definitely modify it to make it something that will make you feel accomplished and not harm you. But the issue I have with 75 Hard is this right here:I see people trying to change or modify the program ...
That's the WHOLE PROBLEM OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE.
As if somehow a person brand new to exercising is a failure for doing only 45 minutes instead of 90 minutes? As if not exercising outdoors because it's dangerously cold or hot is "cheating?" That somehow, if you try to do things safely and sensibly, you're not building up mental resilience? I really don't get this fad. Agree with @sijomial that you're better off making your own set of rules to stick to... which it sounds like you'll be doing anyway.7 -

Devil's advocate for discussion. Is it really suppose to be a weight management or fitness plan though? The write up on the 75 Hard site says it is not. Sure the elements are pretty random but they can be physically done by most people, The instructions tell one to discuss the program with their doctor before starting.
In many cases when individuals set goals or challenges for themselves, they don't set "stretch goals", they set goals that they are pretty sure they can accomplish, which in theory results in less growth than a real challenge.
With that said, I'm not on the program, but I get the theory.1 -

Yikes. I dont understand why people have to put in negative thoughts instead of just scrolling by.. It's not like you were asking what people's thoughts on the program were. I read it that you were looking for support about a structured program you were already committing to. I plan on starting this in a couple of weeks. I hope nothing but the best for you!!2

Agree. I'm pretty sure more people do significant damage to themselves drinking 2 liters of Coke a day vs a gallon of water a day.2 -
So finished 75HARD. Didn’t go as well as I hoped as gyms were closed for first 3 weeks. Then injured my lower back in the last week. But still enjoyed the challenge and it’s been worthwhile.

Then it is NOT 75 HARD but your own program.
In which case you can add in anything and everything you feel like...
and which would be a much smarter thing to do than 75 Hard.
