Several of us have mentioned that we're not that keen on yellow, except maybe in small quantities.
The Color Psychology of Yellow
https://www.verywellmind.com/the-color-psychology-of-yellow-2795823
Some of the key characteristics that are often associated with the color yellow include:
Attention-grabbing: Since yellow is the most visible color, it is also the most attention-getting color. Yellow can be used in a small amount to draw notice, such as on traffic signs or advertisements.
Difficult to read: Yellow is also the most fatiguing to the eye due to the high amount of light that is reflected. Using yellow as a background on paper or computer monitors can lead to eyestrain or vision loss in extreme cases.
Energetic: Yellow can also increase metabolism.
Frustration: Yellow can also create feelings of frustration and anger. While it is considered a cheerful color, people are more likely to lose their tempers in yellow rooms and babies tend to cry more in yellow rooms.
Warm: Yellow is a bright color that is often described as cheery and warm.
(the article explains further)
I've read elsewhere that yellow is a bad choice for a room because of that frustration factor and because it's very hard to relax in a yellow room.
We've got yellow walls in our place, but they are a very light yellow, so it's not bad. I would not want them any brighter/darker than that. And there is a lot of blue to off-set it: full-length blue curtains on four large windows in the main living area.

Here we go! Spring Break week! More kids and more noise (hopefully more fun and laughs as well). I set up one bedroom as the "Lego room" for the older ones to work with Legos and other smaller manipulatives that I can't have around the littler ones. I am thinking the two older boys will disappear for a few hours into that room, each day. They love Legos. I have also brought up the recycle bin (filled with all kinds of tubes, jars, pieces of this and that) so that the kids can "create". I have a gallon of glue, six rolls of tape, all kinds of twist ties, etc...It should be a good week. Both of the big boys have Thursday off from my care and will spend the day with either parents or grandparents.
Kylia- Your time at the farm sounds busy, but joyful! I hope you were able to relax a bit yesterday!
I weighed in this morning and am down five pounds! Yea! So...I will continue with the nutrition plan the way I have it, I will continue to refrain from alcohol (with a little less crabbing on my part, as it is helping me lose the weight). I DO need to push myself a bit more on the intentional exercise. I will try to get more walking in. Walking with the kids really isn't much cardio for me. It is spring. So our walks have slowed considerably as the kids stop to examine every green thing growing, every woodpecker hole in a tree, and turn over every large rock or log looking for bugs and salamanders. Fun walks; just not covering a whole lot of ground and moving intermittently at a snails pace-then at a run.
Oh well. Kids arriving. Love and hugs to all who need them. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -

Rori:
(((Dr. Katie))): I am sorry that your DH is unwilling to go to services with you, although I can understand his reluctance to go. :flowerforyou:
Thanks. It's not so much that he's unwilling, but that he doesn't think he can comfortably sit in a pew for an hour. His stitches from his surgery are all right at the bend of his waist. He needs to slightly recline or stand to be comfortable. We watched the sunrise service together in the sunroom, and he watched the 11:00 service online while I attended in person.
Here's hoping that this week will bring success for him in healing and success for me in getting back on track with my weight loss/eating/exercising/working my finger goals.
Barbie, what is your opinion of the guest hosts so far on Jeopardy? I liked the first two and enjoyed seeing Katie Couric's outfits each day, but Dr. Oz was not a favorite.1 -
Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Celebrated my 61st this weekend by doing exactly what I wanted to do, which was not celebrating at all...
Got a birthday call from my best friend on Friday, and one from my brother on Saturday - and an actual conversation with him, which is most unusual. He's in the middle of his sixth divorce, and this one is going to be the most contentious one of all. He swears he's never getting married again, but he's only 63, and I'm betting on one more. Daughter and son also called, and I got to "talk" to young Levi. Son-in-law and oldest grandson were here to drop the camper, and helped plant my birthday present from my husband Friday night, the redbud tree that I mentioned. He got it wholesale from work, and it's already 10 feet tall. Took all three of them to plant it.
And... yesterday morning, at my husband's urging, I bought a few things for myself - two climbing roses, one red, one deep pink, and an orchid. Love the things, even though we've only gotten one to survive and bloom the second time.
Unfortunately, as the weekend progressed, it was clear that my gut was going south again. I'd been vigilant for a week, because I started falling asleep without warning (once for a split second at a stoplight - scared the living caca out of myself) and my legs started feeling like I was dragging concrete blocks again. So... when the intestinal spasms began Sunday afternoon, I gave in and started the antibiotics. This is the fourth month in a row... but the gastroenterologist told me it could take as many as six. I just had hopes it would be less.
Anyway... there are worse things.
Later, y'all, and I'll leave you with my beautiful orchid, which is also in one of my favorite colors, along with the whole red/purple/blue range:
Love,
Lisa in AR7 -

I love Ken Jennings (I listen to his podcast, " Omnibus"), I liked Mike Richards, the producer, I agree with you about Katie Couric's outfits, but I was glad to see the end of Dr. Oz.

That's one of the things I like about cycling. It's too hilly to go right from home, so we drive to better locations and then ride ... a weekend ride can take me away from my computer for 3 or 4 hours!
M in Oz
I'm envious you can take your bikes elsewhere. Mine won't fit in my car and there isn't a hitch and ball rack for it yet. I don't want one that hangs off the back. My bike is heavy and those are not as sturdy. Our roads around here are atrocious and dangerous for biking. I'd love to take them where there are better surfaces.

I love wearing yellow, if it's muted a bit or mixed with a pattern of some type. One of my favorite shirts is yellow with big white flowers. Unfortunately, it also has skin colors mixed where the moths got to it.

Catching up here.
Has anybody been watching the Stanley Tucci series Searching for Italy? What a beautiful examination of the relationship between culture, environment, economics, art, and food. It is so nice to see such respect for the different cuisines.
Debbie I am so sorry that your cat has died. Our furbabies are so special to us and are family in every possible way.
Lisa A very happy birthday. I remember reading your first mystery. Have you published more? DM me.
CheriAre you still crocheting beautiful blankets. I am in awe of your skill. They are all so beautiful and you seem to finish them in no time at all.
Kim It is so hard to take care of family members without work being affected. Maybe your brother will wake up.
Heather What fun for Easter. I understand what you mean about noise! Antiques Roadshow and Midsomer Mysteries are 2 of my favorites. Are they still being produced in the UK? Both are here only on reruns. The US version is posting the current values of the pieces selected. It is fun to try to guess whether the value has increased or decreased. It appears that no one wants dark furniture.
Rebecca Athena looks just like a tiny you. I love the name. On each side of the family, we had Minerva. One was always called Minerva and the other Min. Elegant ladies, both.
Kelly A new grandchild on the way. I will hope along with you until further along.
Matchka Keep those biking pictures coming. It is great to see Australia. I worked there years ago and I know that everything has changed. About the only thing I recognize from pictures of Sydney is the opera house and the bridge and nothing from Brisbane, Melbourne, or towns on the Queensland south of Cairns and north of Rockhampton. I still remember how excited I was to see a kangaroo for the first time in the outback on the way to work.
Karen The Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation is having its annual big fundraiser and many people are having virtual silent auctions. You never know what people will bid on for a good cause.
Pip Your decorating is so inspiring. Do you conduct virtual consultations? I never know what to do for window treatments. I love the light curtain.
Pat Needle phobia is so common. I think it is the reason that some people are reluctant to get the 2-shot COVID vaccines and are waiting for the J&J.
Barbara "Earth tones look soiled to me. Oranges and yellow need not apply." My exact thought about these tones for clothing for me. Although I do have an apricot dining room and yellow trim in my kitchen with cabinets and wall two shades of green - mint and avocado. It is a craftsman style house with the original painted cabinets and so I continued the paint rather than try to strip them. I am redoing the kitchen and putting on addtion this year (if I can ever get contractors to return calls or give estimates). This will necessitate all new cabinets. I am going against the white trend and putting in wood cabinetry. I also will match (I hope) the original wood floors throughout the rest of the house.
My favorite color is blue. I look best in royal blue and wear navy blue most of the time instead of black. I also like fuchsia and frequently wear a fuchsia pashmina. I have one red pashmina that is blue toned. Other than that, I do not wear red. I do wear red matte lipstick with my navy and a dark matte fuchsia lipstick with other colors. In the 70s, for about 3 years, I really liked earth tones and yellow was my favorite color. Some pictures of me in these colors disabused me of the thought of wearing them and about that time, the earth tones/hippie trend seemed to disappear. I have always liked blush pink and sage green together for decorating with touches of a rich burgundy thrown in.
Everyone- stay well.

Lisa: Happy 61!
Last night I called our daughter to chat and was surprised to discover that she was hosting a large party. We’ve been in lockdown so long that it is our new normal. She lives on an acreage in a small town in rural Illinois. I was surprised that she was hosting a party with many guests. I know that she has been vaccinated for some time. I hope that is true for her guests, too. There is plenty of room for social distancing if some guests have not been vaccinated.
Our niece will be getting married in a few months, and our daughter is planning to come. We are thrilled that she will be here. She may bring her daughter along & it will be a treat to see and spend time with them both. I miss them and will be delighted to see them.

Basedment is now a light yellow. I love it because it brightens the space.
Lisa Happy birthday :flowerforyou:2 -
KJ--check out " Every woman matters" They pay for mammograms and pap tests. Great news about the new grandbaby. Praying for all to go well.
Debbie--sending hugs to you and DH. Losing our furbabies is not easy. But remember you did what was best for her.
Happy B-lated birthday Viv and Lisa.
It was a very nice weekend. We had Easter with DS and family on Saturday and yesterday we went to church and then to other DS's and had dinner with them and DD and husband. Also it was 85 degree's yesterday. So DH and I went for a motorcycle ride. Rode just over 100 miles. It felt go to drive the trike again. It is going in to the shop to have some front end work done as DH says it is to hard to turn and keep straight in the wind. I did get a little sunburned but sure was nice just being out.
Have Bible study tonight. It is only a 6 week study and got my reading done for tonight so I am readly. Woke up at 3am this morning, It is starting to catch up with me. Pray I sleep better tonight.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND NE2 -

Hi all! Just dropped in to say hello and introduce myself. I'm new to the group, new to posting here on MFP, new to Keto lifestyle.
Lots of health & weight loss goals. Just turned 60 in February, and I'm ready to lose about 40 lbs that I've been carrying for too long.
Lorraine2 -
Lisa- Happy birthday, dear friend!
Yellow. I don't care for yellow, but have lived in three yellow houses in my lifetime. Current house is yellow. When we moved in, I painted the entranceway, living room, and one bedroom different shades of yellow. Then I read that warm tones (yellows, oranges, reds) tend to make kids more agitated and warm tomes in the dining area/kitchen make you want to eat more. Lol. So...cool colors in my house, now.2 -

Welcome Lorraine0 -
KJ - congrats and hope things go well with DD's pregnancy.
Lisa - Happy birthday! Enjoy the new plants.
The deer got to the little cherry bush we planted last year and we thought it would probably not recover. We built a cage around it and it has lots of buds on it and we anticipate building a bigger cage to allow it more room to grow and still keep the deer away. All of our blueberries are caged too.
Everyone take care Sue in WA3 -
Afternoon ladies
Got outside for walk. Well i was walking out on the sidewalk and there was one part that was lifted and I tripped ,thank goodness I caught myself and didnt fall.. will let the powers that be know about it.. because i don't want anyone else to fall or trip..2 -
Happy Birthday, Lisa!

Sue—We have three blueberry bushes and I cover them with netting to protect them from deer. The netting is very helpful. The band of deer ate my beans last year & I’m not planning to try growing them this year. I was soooo frustrated. I’m planning to “harvest” my beans at the grocery store. :ohwell:0

A Very Happy Birthday Lisa!!!!!!! :flowerforyou: Sorry your digestion problems have reoccurred.
Proud of myself this evening for using up lots of old vegetables to make a delicious curry. Added half a tin of chickpeas.
I still have a sweet potato, parsnips and some cauliflower left, so I'll be roasting those tomorrow and need to think what protein to go with it.
I think I will have to sleep upstairs tonight though.
Back to my editing tomorrow and hope to make progress on my LPA Also move towards booking next year's cruise. Need to decide on cabin grade.
Yes CJ,they are still making those programmes, though I'm a bit frustrated with MM. The plots have got just too ridiculous. We have watched so many antiques programmes that we are pretty much experts now! We were asked to appear on one last year, but D H wimped out. Grrrrrr! I hope they'll ask us again.
Going to be freezing tonight.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
