I have lost the first 15 of my 70 (ish) since joining 12/28/20. Here's the thing that most people with this amount of weight to lose already know: it's going to take a long time, it's going to take dedication and rededication, it's going to take support however you can find it. I'm walking more than I ever have on a regular basis, I'm logging in my food and exercise and eventually it's going to pay off. In the meantime, I'm building new habits, enforcing healthier choices 95% of the time, and feeling pretty darn good.
Let's do this!13 -
That is so true, Lisa Small wins everyday will get you closer to your goal.2

I'll go with you2

Good morning all! I've been logging foods for 100 days and losing steadily until last week. My weight has stayed stuck and even bounced up a pound for at least ten days, so I guess that is called a stall or plateau which I understand are normal but I still don't like it. Finally, the scale moved downward again this morning, thank goodness. It's frustrating when you know you're not overeating but the scale goes up or doesn't budge. I think my body was holding onto a lot of water from the extra long walks and other exercises I was doing. I took two days of rest, stayed strictly within my calorie budget, drank a lot of water and then the scale moved. I thought it might because I was in the bathroom a lot yesterday, the water seemed to go right through me.
Today's Tip: You will stall in your weight loss efforts at some point. That is normal. Wait it out, be patient, and maybe try resting your body for a day.
Gratitude: I am thankful for my sturdy legs and hips and feet. I have been pushing them really hard and they have not failed me, even if the left hip is still a pain. I will try to remember to warm them up and stretch them out before I ask them for mileage.

Hey, I would like to lose 30 lbs, but I need help doing so.
Can someone please tell me how to add people?1 -
One way to add friends on MFP is to click on the persons name, then click again on their name and choose "Add Friend" that will send them a friend request, and it allows you to send a note with it but most people just send the request.
Another thing to try is to join a group. That's a little tougher because you have to find a group that is active and request to join it. but it's worth it to find a group that you jive with if you can. There's a lot of groups, depending on what your interests are, Low Carbers, Weight Watcher, Runners, Moms, etc....
I joined one called "Stick With It, Lose 1 Pound A Week" and it has challenges and accountability because you have to check in regularly and post your weight weekly. So it requires a little bit of attention. If you miss three weeks in a row, you're thrown into the brigg. After signing up, you're assigned to one of two team. Weekly the points each team accumulated through challenges and check ins is posted, so there's a little rivalry but mostly nice people who are in it for the long haul.2 -
Hello!
I went on a long break that didnt do me any favors!
I weighed my breakfast today and I reset my goals. I have 50 lbs to shed in order to feel less pain and be more mobile.
Here's to a fantastic year!3 -
Here, here to less pain! I discovered the hard way in 2020 that if I don't move very much I end up in greater pain so I've been moving more lately even if I'm going to be slow about it. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Sooner or later it should get easier, right?4

I have a lot more than 70 to lose but I need all the support I can get. I’m 57 and have let COVID lull me back into bad habits.3
-
I'll come!1
-
Coming back and trying to be motivate post birth of 2nd child and withCovid bad habits as well. Let’s do this.3

Today I walked over 5 miles and ate 1760 calories. I'm leaving 250 calories on the table when I close out this day, hoping to kickstart a good losing streak. Last January I was losing 1.5 to 2 lbs per week but it has slowed to a crawl 16 weeks in. However my stamina for walking has come very far, today was my longest walk yet.7

I'm in, back again for the 100th time it feels like

I would just like to say that there is no shame in starting over.
Begin again.
And again.
As many days as it takes to get you where you want to be.
One little step in front of the other.3 -
Hi there! I lost 65 lbs six years ago...and then gained 70 right back within the space of 18 months. I stopped logging, figured I could "coast." I started having health problems. Well, now there are more health problems and I have to start all over again. At 63 years old, the Ghost of Christmas Future has made an appearance and it is time to turn back. I know what to do. I know how to do it. I just need to do it.5

Just like everyone else, I just need some support and to see others that are working towards a goal. I need to lose 25-30 pounds to feel comfortable in my skin and be in the healthy range. Looking for others that are positive and trying to get to better health.2
-
Hello everyone. I support you and feel free to friend me. I want to lose 50 -75 lbs.0
-
I don't really have a set goal yet, just a range I want to get to, which is healthy BMI. For my parameters, 5'4" /Female/64yrs old that puts me anywhere from 110 - 146 pounds. So, my tentative target is 145 lbs. for now. I hope to reach it by the end of this year, or by next spring at the latest. I am in this for the long haul.
My plan:
Calories: 1200 plus 75% of exercise calories
Macros: trying to increase protein and decrease fat/starch carbs
Exercise: mainly walking and biking
other: IF, eating between noon and 7 p.m.; and one or two weeks of "maintenance" every 90 days or so.
Good luck to everyone on reaching their goals! What kind of plan do y'all have?0 -
Happy monday1

You all sound like my people. I joined MFP in 2012. My weight only went up from there in spite of diet and exercise. I've lost a 25 chunk 3x in recent years and this time it looks like I'm keeping it off. I'm feeling motivated to control my diet with the hopes of adding some exercise in when I feel like I can maintain the motivation. Yes, it is a long haul, and it is a hard change to make. After many defeats, and falls, and fails, it is hard to get back up and try again, but get back up you must. And it is Spring (in the Northern Hemisphere), and the world is opening back up!3

Feel free to add me as a friend!0

I am not sure how to add friends, so feel free to add me. I would like an accountability partner/group.1
