Got my second shot this morning! Hubs got his on Tuesday. He's getting the man-hot flashes again but he's prepared for them this time; he's not dizzy this time around, at least, but I also think he was severely undereating at the time he got his first shot, so that probably didn't help.
Re: snacking - lately what I've found myself doing is eating something roughly every 3 hours during the day. Not the "six small meals" so beloved by certain segments of the diet industry, but a similar idea; basically I just bring 2-3 small snacks along with my lunch main and plan to eat them a couple hours before and after my actual lunch break. Stuff like granola bars, fruit, cheese, hard-boiled eggs - things I can eat quickly at my desk or put in my drawer for later. It's not purposeful, I just get hungry, lol. My schedule is a little different on Thursdays, and I noticed today when I wasn't able to eat at 1 PM that I started feeling pretty terrible. I guess my body has gotten used to my "six small meals." I'm not advocating this for anyone, and again I'm not doing it on purpose, but just...maybe those folks are on to something, IDK.6 -
So, I have been bummed out lately. While grocery shopping, I hit my Garmin on the car and it fell out of the holder and I did not notice. When I got home, I wanted to sync it and that is when I realized it was missing. I drove back to the store and parked away from where I was previously, when I walked back to where I was parked, I saw it on the floor. Unfortunately, either I or someone else had stepped/driven over it and the screen was all blacked out. After several tries, it did let me sync one last time to get my 140 days steps met record, but, it would not work after that. I have ordered a new one, but, it will not come until the 10th, so I have lost my step streak!!! Oh well. Life goes on.
Have also been so busy with, moving and unpacking that I have not read any of your posts. Will hopefully get to see some of them this weekend.13 -
🌺One more month and then summer will be upon us! What are your plans for the rest of spring? Will you be trying anything new this month? Or is it back to the tried and true methods that have been working for you thus far?
- I am going to do a little of both. New will be a 3-day juice cleanse and tried and true will be starting my T-25 workouts again.
-
🌺Is there anything you're looking forward to or, conversely, worried about this May? - I am looking forward to my birthday at the end of May!! I turn 39 and I am super excited!!

Things were going well, but we have had life hit us with two crises at once and you know, if I need to eat a little more so I don't fall entirely apart or get dependent on my rescue med, I'm going to do that.
I will say that these days "eat a little more" is an extra 200 calories of snack, as opposed to 800 calories or something. That's a good change and something I really like.
I let myself have chips and cheese tonight with my tacos, because that's just where I'm at, and I probably won't do it again. The chips were not as fresh as they could be and it was just there after the first few bites. That's where I'm at with a lot of side dishes these days, and that's just as well. But I can't tell myself that I can NEVER have this again. It's just that next time I'll remember, "Eh, it really wasn't worth the calorie cost." and I'll just... wind up not. Which doesn't trigger off the binges the way that outright restriction does.10 -

Welcome to everyone who is new here! If you haven’t met me yet, my backstory is that I have struggled with weight my whole life: I lost 70lbs when I was 15 and developed a raging eating disorder for my teen years were I consistently hovered around 114 (not pretty on me). In my 20’s, I dealt with some of my issues surrounding food and finally got healthier by 25 only to swing the OTHER way and gain 40lbs in the past five years due to a stressful job situation. I am committed this time to losing the weight right, while still staying healthy. MFP has been exactly the right thing for me, at exactly the right time!
I have really zeroed in on my eating this week and it has clearly made a difference! I haven’t lost this much in a week in a while. I’m encouraged because these last 20 pounds feel like the “home stretch” for me in that I’m anticipating slower losses as I get closer to GW, so every pound that comes off is a celebration!
I did have a knee injury while hiking over the weekend that has nixed my workout videos (at least for my legs). Instead, I’ve done more swim workouts and some arms + abs videos. I’m hoping to get back to my lunges soon but for now, the pool has been a good alternative.
My best NSV this week was seeing pictures of myself from the hike over the weekend! These were the first pictures of myself taken by somebody else that I had seen since starting to lose. I was so surprised! Even from some pretty unflattering angles, I look decent!
Sending love and light to everyone here! We can do it!8 -

So it's Friday, weigh in day for me, and I’m happy with another 3lb loss this week, however I’m also fully aware that I tend to lose quite quickly at first and then it REALLY slows down, so I’m expecting it to get harder over the coming weeks. This month is also a difficult one for me to stay focused as it's my Birthday month and about 20 other people I know, so it's all cake and drinks and celebrations which makes it a little tough.
We did get a bombshell dropped on us yesterday though as our Landlords have decided they would like their property back after 6 years of living us here, out of the blue, just like that, so it's all panic stations at the moment trying to organise ourselves and find a new place to live. Only bonus is due to the current pandemic they've had to give us 6 months’ notice (we're in the UK) so at least that buys us some time to get properly organised and hopefully find somewhere nice rather than just 'anywhere' for the sake of having somewhere to live. Here in the UK the rental market is pretty rubbish now where we live with not much on offer, so it may take a little while to find something nice. I expect I will be spending the next few months packing. Does anyone know how many calories you can burn from moving house?
I hope everyone else has had happy and productive weeks.8 -
@goal06082021 I'm glad you have found something that works for you! I think that everyone is different and what's hard is the "what works for you" can change over time. For me, I need to feel FULL so it's big meals with no snacks. I probably would do best with an intermittent fasting schedule of 20:4 where I eat from like 11-3, but that doesn't work for my family life so I'll stick with lunch and dinner. It's my "works for me" at the moment.
@uyister it really $ucks when you lose your step tracker. I didn't realize how much I used mine until my Fitbit died. I realized that I kept looking for it 3-4 times a day. Hopefully your new one comes soon.
Since I just got back onto MFP in April I'm going to stay with the current plan for the summer. I would like to start swimming but we are going to be traveling and building a retaining wall, so I think I have enough on my plate for now.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 it is great that you have a good plan to help you deal with the stress. I'm really proud of you for being able to recognize that somethings are just not worth the calories. This is something that im still working on.
@girlinkaz congratulations on your NSV!! That is a huge accomplishment that you have been working on for a long time!
AFM I've been on track for the last couple of days with drinking a gallon of water. I have two days where I limited my calories but ate all my exercise calories and had a crazy amount of salt. So my weight had jumped up 3 lbs over the two days. I'm hoping that today all of that salt weight will be gone and I can start working on my goals again.
I've been trying to measure my hips and waste, but I'm not sure I'm in the same place as before (my measurements has changed by inches since last month). For everyone out that that routinely measures their body, do you have any suggestions??4 -
Hi Cari, same thing happened to my daughter, they were lucky to find a place but for sure stressful. They live in London ( Crouch End). Great progress on your weight loss.3

I'm pretty confident that tiny gain over last week is water retention and/or food in transit, and at worst I may have maintained. It's been a high-sodium week, I upped the intensity of my daily workouts, and work has been N-V-T-S NUTS this week so I'm more stressed than usual. (I work for a college, Monday starts our Summer A term, and lots of students found out/decided about five minutes ago that they want/need to take classes over the summer so it's been a mad scramble lately - it happens every year, that doesn't make it suck any less.) I'll be racking up some OT tonight for a student who waited until today to get back to me. Oh well, can't say no to time and a half, and at least I'm WFH today so I'm already here when I finally do get to log off.
I really need to decide what my workouts are going to look like next week when we're traveling. I could keep getting up at 6 and doing something alone, I'll have space for that. Or I could count on just taking a long walk at some point during the day. Or both. I dunno. I'll figure something out.4 -

Thank you Vicky.
We're just north of London, in Knebworth/Stevenage. I've managed to secure a viewing for Monday week, but the agent said the property has a lot of interest so we're going to be up against it. Fingers crossed. A stressful time for sure!5 -
Happy May everyone! It's always so inspiring to read everyone's comments. It makes me feel so much less alone!

30 min cardio/strength building every other day (4x's per week)

(5/07) Lost 2 pounds this last week and I'm now out of the 270's and into the 260's - Yipee (avg weekly loss was 1.2 so the scales were nice to me today)! I also managed to meet most of my Weekly NSV's/Goals but did fall short today when I just totally sank into depression and just couldn't talk myself out of it as hard as I tried! Things on the homefront are very terrible at the moment so I feel totally alone in the world. Today is supposed to be strength training workout day but I just feel like doing absolutely nothing. There's gotta be a happier life out there somewhere for me, please!

I refuse to be a slave to a scale so I will check my weight at the beginning of month.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions and curfew all the gyms, pools, etc are closed which means lots of walking.
I'm walking about 6km a night regardless of the weather. On my days off, I try to push for 10km.
I'm keeping a close eye on what I eat and I've cut out the junk food and the drive-thru restaurants (talk about saving money)

Reflection: I tried intermittent fasting this week for the first time to support my BFF. Their weight loss had stalled, and I could see the disappointment. I recommended we try it since neither of us had done it before, and I figured it definitely couldn't hurt. We did the 16:8 version eating from noon - 8p, which worked better than we expected. Both of us noticed that around 11 is when we started getting hungry, but we both did the same thing; we drank more water. 😁 I wasn't expected a big loss (my number speaks for itself), but I think I should have eaten a few more calories. Nevertheless, I feel & look lighter, and most importantly, my BFF lost a whopping 10 lbs. Talk about breaking a plateau and feeling good! Woohoo! Also, I received my 2nd vaccine, and I'm doing well. Overall, great week! Finally, because this week went so well, I reckon BFF and I will continue doing intermittent fasting for a bit.

@trinati2001 It really does suck. .. Thank you!!
Update...
My new Vivofit arrived today (3 days early). I lost my step streak since I could not record anything from May 4th till this evening, but I now have a new goal: to get back to where I was previously.
Thanks for all the hugs!!! 😘😘😘🥰🥰🥰10 -
Decided to weigh in on Saturdays this month since the 1st was a Saturday. Have done my usual walking this week, only had 20 minutes on the exercise bike this week but have been working on my arms too so I'm giving them a break till Monday now because I'm definitely feeling this week's arm workouts. Happy with this week's loss because my muscles are definitely healing and more than likely holding on to water so was pleased to see movement on the scale and I'm one step closer to onederland, still a long way to go but things are heading in the right direction.

Decided to weigh in on Saturday since my last weigh in was a week ago. I was worried about Mother’s Day since my husband got me some amazing Godiva chocolate. @CariTJR - WELCOME TO ONEDERLAND!! You just posted that number up there without any fanfare. Congratulations! 🥂🎉🏆
I'm sorry about losing your rental. Wishing you good luck in finding a new home
Thank you. I think I kind of missed it myself, just in terms of the fact that I'm focusing so much on hitting my first stone (14lbs) loss that my mind is just blinkered to other milestones haha. Must pay more attention!
Well done to everyone, it's encouraging to see everyone's posts and amazing progress, not just in terms of weight lost, but attitudes towards the whole process and people's commitments to exercise etc. 👍7 -
Nice work everyone! Was great reading everyone's progress! I had a pretty decent week and got 3 good workouts in. I plan to do a good workout tomorrow and am also going to go swimming. My goal for this coming week is to continue tracking my food, get 4 workouts in and at least 2 walks. My excitement for this past week is that I ordered a rower with some performance points I accumulated from work! I am pretty excited for it to arrive!

I didn’t feel well all of last week so I didn’t exercise much. I think it’s from the 2nd shot. I still don’t feel right and am tired almost all the time. In the step challenge I’m doing I only made the 9,000 steps (the daily goal) twice since May 1st. So hopefully this next week will be better! Happy Mother’s Day!8 -

Hi, not sure how this will work. I am not sure what my CW is the scale is broken. I will check in tomorrow. I want to change eating lifestyle so the weight stays off.
Goals
log in calories daily
8 cups of water- didn’t do very well with that today
3 days or cardio, 30 min each
2 days or weights
That’s it for me now.8 -
Happy Mother's day! I usual check-in on Saturdays but it was a busy day. I got an ice cream maker for Mother's day. I wanted one so I can make ice milk with less sugar and fat. To replace ice cream. Today we are making Java chip with dark chocolate morsels with just a bit of half & half and 2 shots espresso but mostly milk. I want to experiment with making it with 1% milk and the least amount of sugar possible.
After feeling better I exercised everyday during the work week. My water intake was good most day. With car repairs and mother's day we have had more take out so next week I am planning on healthy home cooked meals and exercise each day.8 -
