What's Your Most Recent NSV

I've kept some old shirts that have sentimental value to me. One is a denim pull-over beach shirt my grandmother gave me when I was around 14. Another is a double-knit shirt my aunt made for me when I was around 22. They both fit this morning. I'm 65. Miss you both!

BrightEyedAgain, that's awesome on your bike ride and very impressive to accomplish it with hills and in such heat.

I took the kids running for their first time yesterday. We may have looked like goofballs but they learned a new way to relieve stress/coping skills and I have no excuse to not run. So I consider this my NSV of the week.

NEVER disparage what you have accomplished (not nearly as much....) Every person has a private battle and every accomplishment should be recognized and celebrated. That is a huge loss. Think of this - you have lost the size of a toddler!! and free closet shopping is the best.

I need some advice am really struggling so I decided to Came here to seek some advice/information to get batter I will be brief trust me!
I sit 9-10hrs day infront of my monitors working I have have tried to stop the habit of snacking, I can2 find anything to help me or replace, I can’t find something to motivate me I have been fighting to loss weight for all my life.
I can’t find motivation to keep going because I don’t see results regardless of how much exercise or diet I take that cause me to stop.I have healthy Issues too it’s a lot going on with my health so I need someone who been through this journey to help me or a partner who we can fight together throughout.Thanks for your time to read and respond God bless you.

I feel like I'm noticing a lot more of these NSVs lately. Today, I grabbed a soda out of the vending machine, feeling like I needed a break from my water bottle. I took 3 sips, and it tasted horrible! Instead, I'm munching on some super juicy watermelon for a hydrating, sweet break from plain water!

OK, so every person and every body is different, but this is what helps me. I also sit at a computer for 8-12 hours a day, so changes needed to be made. This works for me.

a) get a food scale
b) get a scale
c) use these daily

1. Drink fizzy water. I add a little bit of apple cider vinegar to make it taste a little more acidic and fresh.
2. Sometimes I have a Coke No Sugar. It's a nice treat and essentially zero cals
3. I do not eat after dinner.
4. I try not to eat breakfast before 10am. I try to push it out to 11 if I don't feel hungry
5. 200g Greek yoghurt and banana. Try not to eat again until 1pm, push to 2pm if you can
6. 500ml soup (200-350 cals, depending), or 3 boiled eggs, or 2 boiled eggs and 1 piece of toast. 150-350 cals
7. Dinner I try to have 200g lean protein and vegetables 350-600 cals

Make a rule to 1) never eat at your desk, 2) never eat in your car/public transport. Always sit down to eat at a table

The above system leaves spare calories in your budget. FEED YOUR CRAVING. Feel like chocolate? Ice cream? Potato chips? Then have some, but make sure it's in your budget. I do this after dinner as a dessert. You can have cake, pudding, just measure the portion. I measure out 37g of plain salted potato chips. And for me that keeps me from going off my diet because I feel I am not being denied.

Try and get at least 30 minutes of heart-rate-increasing activity into your day, preferably an hour if you can. Walking is simple, it's great. Find some hills. ONLY CREDIT HALF THE CALORIES to your budget. So if you exercised 500 cals, only increase your eating by 250 max.

Have a packet/tin of low-calorie mints handy. When your mouth wants to TASTE something, or wants to have something IN IT, then pop a couple in and you'll distract your mouth while not going backwards on your budget. Same can be done with pickles and raw vegetables if you don't mind those.

My NSV this week was walking 6.5 miles yesterday. I took a fall walking my dogs mid-January, and broke my back. After I got out of hospital at the end of January wearing a back-brace, I did nothing, physically for two months, and put on weight. My first walk in March was 7 minutes! The injury also took an inch off my height, which oddly I am really miffed about! For a long time 15 minutes was the most walking I could do. After a few weeks of physio I started to increase the length of my walks, and can now manage over an hour without pain - a few lbs gone also...

Wow.... a few weeks ago I was updating my meal planner (sticking to it diligently), and my husband actually said he admired my determination. Feels so good to get the unexpected nod of support!

I'm waking up rested and fresh in the morning and have started going for morning walks. I love it!! I'm not a morning person and used to wake up really grumpy and angry despite sleeping for 10 hours
I'm trying to wean off sleeping pills and trying natural methods (sleep inducing foods) like warm milk with nutmeg powder. It's working!!

@Frompumpkin2cinderella I saw your post right after I wrote mine, and I love the idea of not being a grumpy person in the morning anymore. Maybe I'll start taking regular morning walks like you're doing and see if it helps me. Likewise getting off of the sleep aids. I hate taking pills, but I usually take a benadryl every night so I don't snore. Maybe now that my weight's down some, I wouldn't have that problem as much. Worth a shot! I definitely know I'm sleeping better in general from all the exercise. Thanks for putting this idea into my head!

Have been injured since Mid March and have had to stay off my feet since. Despite this, I have maintained my weight. Last time this happened I gained weight and did not lose it until last year. While healing is frustratingly slow, so glad that I learned about CICO instead of thinking that exercise is the only way to lose or maintain weight.
