What’s your driving force for being here?
Be honest.
Be honest.

my ma died a long time ago now. one of our last convos before it happened she said she wished I'd lose some weight. after she was gone it was all I could think about. so I did.
nowadays im here for me. developed some heart issues a few months ago and am having to teach my body how to do certain things all over again.
also here for the memes and laughter sometimes. helps reduce stress.9 -
Because I’ve made connections across the ethers on here with people who I consider true friends.
Because I like causing hate and discontent and it’s really easy to do that with some people on here.
Sometimes I ain’t got nothing better to do.
Stuff like that. 🤷🏼♂️

Because I was danged sick and tired of being my own lowest priority.
I took care of everyone else in my life for years. I took better care of my pets than I took care of myself. I took better care of people I DIDN"T EVEN LIKE than I took of myself. I had this whole LIST of things I wanted to do, that I kept putting off for 'later' - after the kids were grown, after I lost weight, after no one else needed me.
I got sick of it.
I matter, too and later may not even EXIST.4 -
Bored at work3

To answer this question, we would first have to understand my origins. I come from a long lineage of fitness buffs. My grandfather was a bodybuilder at Venice Beach in the 1960's. He may even still be there today, I'd have to find his tent (haha). My mother taught aerobics classes when she was pregnant with me well into her third trimester. They say I had little jazz hands when I came out of the womb. Adorable.
Quite simply, health & fitness is my passion. It's not uncommon to find me waxing poetic in the Waffle Toppings thread until the wees hours of night. It's what I was put on this earth for. Good luck to all of you on your magical weight loss journey!5 -
Why?
I have no idea.5 -
I was involved in a serious automobile accident that left me bedridden for several months. Gaining weight due to the physical inactivity and emotional trauma forced me to find a tool to help me get back on track.
Now I just come here for the comic relief that pushes me through my stressful work day.
Also, @motorsheen has threatened me with bodily harm if I leave again.
I honestly have met a great group of people that have supported me through some very trying times in my life...so I'll stay for now.8 -
I’m just here for the lulz7

Hate looking like crap

Started out years back because I was actually trying to get fit 😯. Now, Bla bla bla I can’t quit you2

I feel as if I fit in with all the other misfits wonderful people here. Some of them make me laugh, some of them listen to my woeful stories, some of them agree with me(yes, it's all about me ) and I'm still working up to 1K disagrees.
In 3 little words, I feel safe.5 -

Helping you get to 1k... cause I'm that nice of a guy.5 -
I've always been overweight since middle school. I had two summers of drum corps in my early 20s where I lost a ton of weight but quickly gained it right back. Even with that weight loss, I still had a belly. Ultimately that's what I'm wanting to get rid of. I don't like already having a dad bod when I'm not a dad! On that topic, at 34 right now, if I'm ever going to hopefully be a dad, I want to make sure I'm healthy enough to keep up with them through college! It'd also be nice if I gained confidence through here to help me meet my future wife. (I'm extremely shy when it comes to approaching women)6

Three forces...
1. Mastering mindset

I love calorie counting, planning/recording/analyzing and trying to meet nutritional goals
...even tho I fail hard, often
Calorie and exercise counting is easy for me to do in my head - but I prefer to look at it visually
I found the forums, (chit chat specifically) - find them (it) fun (and / or triggering) both of which are a win?! Engages your mind? Being triggered and going on a rant - I love it!
...side note (success stories forum is super cool too ❤)
I found another site that is "better" for calorie/exercise counting, easier to use with a better, quicker to use database of ACCURATE entries - but mfp has more customizable features for free - so it reigns a smidge superior.
Forums here win over other health/fitness sites I've tried by 10,000,000% - I can't even...
People biitch about the moderation here, but it is quite liberal, (or maybe just has funner people engaging?) than all the other health/fitness sites I've 2 and 3 timed with
...so I keep coming back
Basically for the people - as I said, there are better, more easily accurate calorie/exercise tracking apps out there, but the social aspect and customizability (for free compared to other apps) are the reason I come back here.
...Its super cool to note too, I've been here since 2017 - a lot of people come and go, change names - but come back
... ... ...
either (we/they) are possessed and mind controlled (I can buy into that)
...or its a good, fun, (generally) positive experience (and community)

It should be either Monday or Wednesday since everyone is here when they are most bored at work.2 -

I'm just looking to have a source of social engagement online that is positive and healthy.2
-
Created an account almost 6 years ago because a friend suggested it, used it for a few days and almost forgot about, just let it go. Years later I picked it back up and started playing in community.
I like the conversations and games. Also, I've run two Marathons since being here and runners and others in this community taught me so much and encouraged me through it.
Also when I'm sad or a little lonely, I come here. People are usually supportive and motivating. I also come here for inspiration sometimes.4 -

Scandinavian pop music can be quite divisive.3 -
I'm here because MFP is one of the few social networking sites not blocked on the computers in the prison library.5
