My NSV is that I finally had the guts to up my daily calories on MFP and drop my weight loss goal down to 0.5lbs/wk for my last seven pounds. I've been scared to let my weight loss slow for fear that the scale would Never-Go-Down-Again-EVER. That I'd be right back where I started if I let myself relax even a little. That all my progress would magically VANISH if I dropped my guard!!
Intellectually I knew that wasn't true, but it's taken several weeks for me to finally say..."It's ok to lose more slowly, OR to not lose at all. The world won't end if I decide to stop right here. As long as I keep weighing and don't go back up, there's nothing to worry about. I feel great, and I like how I look, so what's the big deal?"
Actually , I know NEED to learn to maintain and let my mind let go of weight-loss mode. But the prospect of maintaince is turning out to be just as scary and emotional as the weight loss. So I'm proud of myself that I've taken my first step on that part of the journey. I've told myself all along that this is a forever lifestyle change, not a passing obsession. Now I need to learn to walk that out. Changing my MFP goals is the official first step.32 -
I was able to put on a shirt and have it be loose! It's a shirt I picked up years ago and I've gone through stages with it from it being loose, to too tight to imagine wearing. It's just a t-shirt, nothing special. But, feeling comfortable in it and comfortable enough to wear it OUTSIDE where people might SEE me is a good feeling25

I’ve had a stressful week at work and, as a result, did a lot of stress eating. What I didn’t do was give up on myself. I still exercised. I still did nice things for myself like getting a massage.24

Today at the gym I was lifting about 85lbs compared to the 45lbs before24

Good for you!!!! That's a great accomplishment.9 -
This week I ran 40 miles in total, this was a goal I set myself on the 1st March when I could barley run 1 mile. I am tired but very happy.27
-
Ran 5 miles this morning, stopped to walk, then realized after a few minutes I was still a mile from home and I was running late. So I started running again. Haven’t run 6 miles in at least 6 years, probably longer.
This afternoon I was thinking I was getting some definition back in my arms after a mid-Covid demotivated slump, and when I was at a friend’s pool and met a new lady, who immediately commented, “You look really fit, what do you do?” I guess the past two or three months’ worth of re discovering how much I enjoy working out are starting to show!19 -
Last night I went to put on a pair of jeans since it was rainy and cooler out. I found a pair in the closet that I was sure were my son’s. I didn’t know how they got in there. But when I took them out and looked at them more closely, I realized they were mine! I didn’t recognize them because I only wore them a couple of times and the color and style were different from what I’ve had previously.
I am still quite a bit larger than my sons (and husband), but the fact that I thought the jeans weren’t mine is a NSV. 😋19 -

Five pounds IS a lot. Just think of 5 butter boxes sitting together. That is how much volume you lost. Puts things into perspective!

I had a slightly similar one - DH was folding some clothes and asked "is this *son's* or *daughter's*?
It was mine!!
Okay, it was a quite slim fitting tee that is probably just a tad on the small side still, but it's definitely mine! And there was another one he'd already put into the son's pile too.13 -
What does "NSV" mean?2

Non scale victory.
Fitting in an armchair without squishing your hips.
That moment when someone literally doesn’t recognize you because you’ve lost so much.
Needing to buy a new belt.
Being able to walk up a long staircase without huffing.
That kind of thing.11 -
I'm an evening snack kind of gal. Throughout my weight loss journey (nearly two years now), I've always kept a number of calories aside for an after dinner snack. Sometimes a small snack, sometimes a large one, but always something. But lately my body/appetite has been fighting me and I've been eating more at lunch and dinner and I was still having a (small) snack in the evening, out of habit.
Yesterday, after eating more than originally intended during the day, I simply did not eat a snack at all. And lo and behold, the world didn't end, lol. I won't stop my evening snacks alltogether, but perhaps there is value in freeing myself from the habit of snacking every evening, in light of my goal of keeping the weight off long-term.24 -

For people who don't know butter boxes (like me ) because butter is packaged differently where they live, I like this image to visually represent 5lbs:

Two weeks ago,I set small goals for myself dealing with self care rather than weight loss. Things like using really nice body and face products daily. Getting up and moving for five minutes every hour during my work day (I work from home), making my bed. I put a sticker on my calendar for each goal I accomplish daily and seeing all of them is really motivating.
I am working on the same types of things and I am finding it really gratifying!12 -
I got on a bike and rode this weekend. And two weeks ago I paddleboarded. Neither were great distances but it's a start and I'm excited to go do both again.19

I like leggings. Bought myself a pair of XXL a month ago. Bought myself two pair of L from the same brand last week, expecting they won’t fit.
They arrived today.
They fit.
I skipped a size in a month.
OK. They’re really stretchy material. But…. I’m putting this in the W column.26 -
I broke my step record on Fitbit with over 14,000 steps in one day.29

Leg pressing with a machine I’ve never seen the likes of before. Was really thinking I’d lost strength bc a 95lb warm up felt rather more challenging than I’d expected. Well. It was 95 kg. So not a reading NSV, but I suppose it get easier than I’d expect 210 to feel like.18

Yesterday, I ate dinner. Then I didn’t eat anything else. I ate what was on my plate and then called it a day. This is big for me because I am a dessert kind of person.23

I found a size small (but slightly oversized) button down calvin klein shirt in a thrift store a while ago and got it hoping I'd be able to wear it as a sort of light jacket/overshirt/open because I really liked the material. It fits now.

My boy short panties look like boy short panties again when I wear them lol!!19

I noticed today that my jeans are a bit loose, and my belt fits again!16

I had a couple yesterday. First, I got takeout for breakfast and they included a "bonus item" because it's Wednesday! WTF? So, instead of one chicken biscuit, I had two. In old times, I would've scarfed both down. Instead, I put one in the fridge for breakfast today. Then, I went to work but forgot to pack a lunch. *sigh* They put lots of yummy snacky things including all the GOOD candies! I managed to limit myself to some string cheese, slim jims and one piece of candy. I was pretty hungry when I got home at 7, so I had a small dinner and stayed under calorie. I was very proud Sad that I'm plateauing on the scale (and gaining super small amounts each day), but I know my body will eventually catch up with all the goodness. And this is about NSVs anyway!22

I bought a shirt at Goodwill nearly FIVE years ago. Been trying it on every once in a while and say 'just 15 pounds' and I might be able to wear it. Well, here it is 28 down....finally wore it last night **with compliments! I felt proud of myself!

That's wonderful! I have one hanging in my closet that still doesn't fit. But, I'm gonna get to a point where it does6 -
Brought my TRX and bands to the playground and coerced my friend into working out with me while the kids played. Always felt too weird and self conscious to do that before….and we were in the park with a whole summer camp of what looked like middle schoolers.
A mom came up to us on her way out and said how we were inspire her to do the same thing!22 -
I bought one of those adjustable (by cutting) belts and got to cut off another notch!15
