I know there is the bmi to find out but the healthy range is quite large so I was wondering how you worked out what was the right weight for you? I'm 5ft 4" and 148lb my goal at the moment is just to reach 145 and be at the very top end of healthy but I was wondering where to set it from there. Any advice would be great

Your bmi should be around 21 or so, right smack dab in the middle. A website I found helpful was http://www.cockeyed.com/photos/bodies/heightweight.html which gives you a chart of weights and heights, and peopel who are those sizes to compare0

Hi,
I'm also 5'4". I have been around 140 for a month or so now. I am trying to get to 127 because that will put me at the middle of the healthy BMI range. I keep shrinking in clothes size though, so I wonder if I am going to stop losing weight and just continue to get smaller. Body rearrangement or something like that, swapping out fatty areas for lean muscle.0 -
The problem with BMI is that it doesn't take into account muscle mass.
Rather than pick an ideal weight, pick an ideal fat percentage. Chances are they'll be pretty close, anyway. For guys you want to try and be between 8-15%. For women it's higher, about 20-25%.
Here's a good chart: http://www.builtlean.com/2010/08/03/ideal-body-fat-percentage-chart/0 -
wow thats a pretty cool site. Needs more guys though, in the 5'11-5'10 range0

I've heard that 22 is the best for health but there was a bit of research out ages ago saying that the most attractive BMI is 20.85 - which is what Kate Winslet is.
