SW (starting over--May 24, 2021): 160.3I started mfp on 2/20/11 at 160.2 lbs.
My lowest weight on mfp was 140 lbs in 11/2013 and 5/2014.
My highest weight ever: 168+ (and I wasn't even pregnant at that time... ) That was in 12/2016.
Just for the record used to be an athlete a long, long time ago. Used to teach Aerobics and Step Aerobics. Used to LOVE exercise.
Nowadays, I don't exercise at all. Why, oh why not? How can I go from loving exercise and doing tons of exercise to nothing at all?
Going from low blood pressure to being on medication for high blood pressure. What have I done to myself?!

8/23 199.3 Well I had Chinese food on Friday night and apparently it stayed with me a bit. I realize that I haven’t logged food last week at all. So that is my weekly goal to log all food all week. Including the Oreo cookie (apple cider donut) that someone just brought over to my desk. Food does not equal comfort, food does not equal comfort…my new chant…
8/24 200.9 My clothes are starting to seem really tight. Even when I am working out lately, my heart isn’t in it anymore. When I go to Zumba class on Saturday, I have to really concentrate to stay in the moment. I know that right now I am going through some form of PTSD and trying very hard not to fall into depression but I am struggling. Can stress make everything you eat just stay with you? I thought I did pretty well yesterday but when I put in all my numbers, very high sodium, high fat, high sugar 2234 calories. Well there’s my answer. It felt like a regular day though. I felt like I was being good but upon review, I really wasn’t.
8/25 200.3 1990 calories better but still higher than it should. High sodium, high sugar.

8/20 DNW Dinner yesterday (my only meal) didn’t happen until about 9PM, steak, broccoli at Outback. Today chef’s salad for lunch and pizza, pasta and breadsticks for dinner. Ate topping from 3 slices and 1/2 breadstick and iceberg salad.

08/21 …..186.8 ….. (trend weight 189.3) My renovation handmen were here until late (9:30 pm). One helped prime my well pump and it’s still working this morning! Hopeful! I didn’t get in the walks I wanted and my dinner was very late and eaten in bed. Frozen pizza filled with sodium so I am happy the scale isn’t going crazy on me this morning. I finally settled in at about 11:30 pm to an Episode of Columbo which is one of my greatest pleasures. I had a heckofaday (with water problems and drywall dust) and deserved all two hours of it! Today I have pulled pork going in the crock pot to share with the workers.
08/22 …..185.4 ….. (trend weight 188.9) That’s better! Ended up having dessert last night which was unnecessary really. A double whammy – A little too much and totally of the wrong thing but the scale was still kind to me this morning. It was probably catching up to some good days a few days ago. Today is my DGD’s 1st birthday. She is about 65 miles away so there’s a tad bit of travel and there will be food and cake. I expect an uptick tomorrow but a wonderful day today! I will consider today my higher calorie day to keep my metabolism from dropping. Making it part of my plan instead of against it will help keep me in check in the coming days.
08/23 …..187.4 ….. (trend weight 188.8)The birthday party was fantastic for my DGD turning age 1. So beautiful with lots of things for toddlers to do (trampoline, kiddie pool, castle playing, bouncy house etc). Food was catered and delicious. I didn’t eat much real food yesterday, mostly junk. The cake was so sweet that, even after taking off most of the frosting, my teeth almost fell out. I felt like I died and went to heaven, truthfully. It was the land of milk and honey. Abundance. So…..two pounds later, I am planning an extra good day today. I’ll never forget her birthday celebration, but I will forget these 2 pounds. They will be gone before the end of this round!
08/24 …..187.4 ….. (trend weight 188.6) Still trending down and still below starting weight which is goal met. Yesterday I remained under calorie and with pretty decent macros. However, I didn’t drink enough water and I must have crawled like a snail or a turtle (at best) all day because I got in basically zero extra activity. So I am not surprised by no change on the scale. I will try to some lower carb healthier choices today and see what happens. On a positive note, today was morning 4 with water (and without priming well). Perhaps they’ve finally got the right settings!
08/25 …..187.0 ….. (trend weight 188.5) I am going out of town in a little while unexpectedly. Rain is due and the planned outside project is on hold for the day so it’s a perfect day to go buy the power/pressure washer I need. Lunch will be out, probably Chinese or Thai food. I drink less water when I am away from home, but I’ll try to get in extra tonight and tomorrow to offset the sodium. I do expect a temporary uptick on the scale tomorrow but temporary is the key word here…..

08/27 …..xxxxx ….. (trend weight xxxxx) Early travel today to take a friend for a medical procedure where she’ll be knocked out. Forgot to weight before sucking down coffee. Lunch will be at the hospital cafeteria but they usually offer some decently healthy things for on-the-go so hopefully it won’t be too bad.
08/28 …..188.4 ….. (trend weight 188.4)Finally my scale weight and trend weight match. I just wish it was about 40 pounds lower lol. Travel yesterday and I did pretty good overall on the diet front. Just a serious lack of movement and water though. I have creeped above my start weight due to the birthday party and several days of travel. I don’t know if I can hit goal in 24 hours (any weight loss at all is my goal). I’ll get as close as I can by trying to have a good food day. However, it is thunderstorming so no walks. Extra workers will be here today for the renovations so no privacy. I plan on going up & down my stairs to at least get a little exercise/movement in. Everything counts!
08/29 …..188.4 ….. (trend weight 188.4) 4 days in a row at the same weight. Very strange! Yesterday I was well within calorie and incorporated more exercise after all. However, only 3 hous of sleep last night. Perhaps that is affecting me. And, of course, my stress levels are through the roof with this well situation that keeps stopping! Flowing water right now, but for how long this time?

08/20 - 162.8 STEPS -19,850. Big drop from yesterday, hopefully that's the water weight from all the camping activities leaving. Didn't eat enough yesterday and lots of walking so I expect a bounce back up tomorrow. Not going to adjust Round GW just yet. Feeling tired today as only 4 hours sleep so it's going to be a slog to get the steps in.
08/21 - 163.2 STEPS - 10,771. Had more fibre than usual yesterday and not enough water so am not surprised to be back up a bit. Still below goal but no unhatched chickens counted yet. Rainy day and lots of housework so getting my steps in might be tricky.
08/22 - 161.0 STEPS 1,635. Really poor performance on the steps yesterday as I was stuck indoors on the computer all day. Not great with the food and drink either so I'm shocked to see another big drop today! I must've been holding on to a lot of water. Glad to be back at a weight from ten days ago, fingers crossed it doesn't swing back up again too far tomorrow!
08/23 - 162.2 STEPS 7,090. A little short of my walking target yesterday, went for a lovely walk in the woods but felt really sleepy when I got home so spent the rest of the day watching movies. Food was on point but I did have some yoghurt and granola before bed and I wouldn't usually have carbs in the evening which may account for the uptick on the scales. Waiting on a call from the GP to discuss concerns I have with my heart, really nervous as I don't know if I'll be able to communicate my symptoms over the phone. Once the call is done I'm going for a walk in the sunshine to release the tension.
08/24 - 161.2 STEPS 11,700. Good day yesterday all in all. Went for a 3 mile walk in the evening around my town and discovered some parts I'd not seen before. Felt slightly unsafe walking alone in the evening though, I guess this is one reason why people get dogs. Cats don't care! My birthday is coming up this Saturday and I'm off to London to visit my bro for a few nights then pub lunch and cinema on Sunday, it's gonna be a challenge to keep on track! On the last day of this challenge I will be away from the scales so will have to wait until Monday to weigh in.
08/25 - 160.4 STEPS 10,419. Another good day and another drop, so close to the 150s! Went for an evening walk again after spending a lot of the day in the car. I'm finding I need to fit in at least a one hour walk each day to achieve my steps goal in top of my normal steps activity. I think I need to get up earlier and go for a short morning walk before the rest of the house wakes up. Snacking in the evening of yoghurt and granola and ham and cheese didn't seem to have a bad impact, surprised at that.
08/26 - 160.0 STEPS 12,520. Yay, I hit my first mini goal today, 20lbs lost! Yesterday was a really good day, busy all day and I had lots of energy. I think all the extra walking is doing me a world of good, I don't feel breathless and sluggish anymore, I'm sleeping much better and getting more done. I read a thread this morning about ways to up your NEAT and have been consciously trying to keep my body moving by taking the longer route to get to places and avoiding multi tasking so I have to do more trips around the house. I'm also trying to stand still and sit down less, pacing when I am looking at my phone and putting things away when they are done with rather than piling things up to deal with later. So far I have walked .... today and it's only 1 30pm!
Hopefully I won't have to walk for 1.5 hours this evening to get my steps in if I don't want to.
08/27 - 160.4 STEPS 10,866 Started off as a really good day calorie wise but ended at the pub followed by burger van on the way home, whoops! Had a cheese burger but left the bun and had a box of salad with it, not too 'naughty'. Paying for it this morning with a bad head and a 0.4 gain. Oh well, I had fun! Just got to resist the urge to have a lazy day today.
08/28 - 161.0 STEPS 4,411 Upswing, sigh. I had a low energy day yesterday and didn't manage much other than cooking and housework. I really missed going for my walk. Think I'm retaining water again as my ankles look puffy. It's my birthday today and I'm going to my brother's for a couple of nights. They're very foody people and will no doubt be putting on a spread. How do I politely decline having a piece of everything offered? It's actually giving me anxiety the idea of not having control over what I can eat and when. I could just say f it, it's my birthday and one or two days of excess won't matter in the long run but the whole of August I've been going back and forth over the same 8 pounds and really wanted to start September on a new low. I guess I just need to relax a bit.

08/29 - 72.9 well, I know why it happened & i’m Back on track as of this morning. The nice thing is when I hit the high number of my maintenance range, I don’t like how my body feels as much-particularly my midsection, which makes the effort to shift my weight back down much easier.

8/20 - stayed with calorie budget for today and logged everything. Increased my water intake slightly but still need to work on getting better.
8/21 - not a great day. Went over calorie budget by quite a bit🤦♀️Managed to drink a ton of water tho😁 Will have a better day tomorrow 🤞
8/22 - great day today. Stayed within calorie budget and drunk loads of water.
8/23 - over calorie budget by 200... hopefully pull it back tomorrow.
8/24 - another day of going over on budget 😭
8/25 - 204lbs... glad to see a slight loss on scales even tho the last few days haven't been great.
8/26 - Couldn't stop eating today 😭 consumed double my calorie budget. Was really emotional too.

8/28 - had a sneaky weigh-in this morning, before I had a shower, was mortified to see I'd gained 4lbs!! 😯 I knew I'd been bad for the last few days but not THAT bad 😭then I remembered - oh yes...its that "time of the month" any day now🤦♀️phew... panic over🤣

REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
