WFTY: Persistence. I did my first volunteering stint at the library today! It was pretty awesome. I'm probably going to continue volunteering there every once in awhile even after I get my card. I need to update my Google Calendar because I've signed up for a couple of webinars and I have a family thing coming up and I don't think I've overextended myself but I need to make sure I don't end up with conflicts.Reminder: Last year's WFTY was progress, and I am ... actually, I was going to say content, but it's more than that. I'm proud of myself, and I'm pleased with the progress that I made. Even without the challenges throughout the year, I accomplished things that I should be proud of; and given those challenges, I'm even happier about what I was able to do.2 -
@mytime6630 - yes, we do hike a lot, especially on this trip with the dogs. The dogs and DH are good motivators!
Had Thai food for dinner.. really good. Then shared a treat with DH. Now I won’t eat again until tomorrow.2 -
Hour commitment - I won’t eat again until dinner, after 5 pm.1

Hopefully I will stay in the green today as I still don't feel great so don't feel like eating much.

JFT M 9/13 ~ Hubby's last day off work
1) Walked dog 4.23 mi before work, watched two deer disappear into the sunflower field, saw low-flying cranes & bunnies happy dog & happy me
2) Net cals zero / 14c water
3) Clear some email backlog / OnDemand training course (expiration this week)
4) 5:00 haircut / hubby time
5) Unplug 9:00 / FLOSS / RETAINERS / Voltaren / Calm app before bed / 5:40 alarm (walk dog before work)
Beautiful sky just before sunrise this morning. Little more than an hour later, thick fog rolled in. I had headlights on for my drive to work. Freaky.
2021 Goals:1) Weight 150#Word for 2021: Gratitude ~ be mindful of & appreciate my many blessings
2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
3) Post weekly weigh-in on JFT for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I peek occasionally other days. My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
4) Take measurements & log on MFP every month end ~ remember this year! ~ 1.31.21 ~ 2.28.21 ~ 4.3.21 ~ 4.30.21 not pretty ~ skipped 5.31.21 & 6.30.21 ~ 7.31.21 accountable ~ 9.1.21 horrible after vacation but recorded
5) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x) ~ mostly walking but include weights/circuit & other x-training
6) Participate in race or challenge events even if virtual ~ started MapMyWalk You Vs. Year 1021K on Jan. 1 / virtual 50 Mile Frenzy 11.27.20 - 1.15.21 (replaced Frenzy on the Fox for Jan. 2021) 50.37 miles 12.17.20 and completed 97.44 miles total / Tour de Northeast WI virtual challenge: cover distance from Oshkosh to Gills Rock (139 miles) 1.1.21 - 3.31.21 ~ completed distance on 3.21.21 / 30/45 Build to Bellin virtual challenge 30 min. activity for total of 1,350 min. in 45 days 3.1.21 - 4.15.21 = 146 out of 339 in 34:00:42 / Hope 2021 Face Mask virtual 5K (benefits No Kid Hungry) anytime 5.11.21 in 58:04 / 100 Miles in May virtual challenge ~ 134.68 miles would've been more if I hadn't sluffed off on dog walks one week / Bellin (virtual) 10K on 6.19.21 after thunderstorm in 1:45:49 ave. pace 17:02 per mile / Titletown Wellness Shoreline Challenge: virtual distance from Gills Rock to Pleasant Prairie (232 miles) as many times as possible 6.12.21 - 11.26.21 / Packers 5K IN PERSON 7.24.21 48:36 ave. pace 15:39
7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together ~ excellent goal last year that should be repeated
8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states) ~ had this goal in 2020 and how ironic
9) Declutter bedroom, home office and basement ~ made good progress in 2020 & want to keep it up2 -
Just for Monday, September 13:

Back from vacation but lots of urgent issues, including my dog having its ear torn on a walk yesterday (loose dog ran over and just attacked) and my father-in-law needing more (very expensive) care. We have to get care and find a way to pay for it. I probably won't be putting too much pressure on myself for a few days, but just some simple goals:
JFT
1) No desserts
2) Walk the driveway 5 times if at all possible.
3) Drink water
Hour commitment : finished coffee stuff, now I won't eat again until after 12 pm.
@cschmitz110515 - beautiful photo! The pink clouds are so pretty.
@Snowflake1968 - Love the photos from your party. What fun!5 -
@Snowflake1968 Love, Love Love the party theme. Looks like y'all had a blast!
@more_freggies76 Sorry to hear about the pooch and your FIL. Take care of you.
Yesterday was our anniversary. Saturday we went for a bike ride and Sunday we cleaned up the bikes. I was feeling fancy, but not so fancy that I wanted to shower or cook, so I set out the China and we ordered pizza and salad. The other choice was left over chicken tacos, if I'd done that I could have used the gravy boat for queso.
JFT Goals

- V to Orthopedist by 10:00
- Lunch at home

Hour commitment - After I finish my peach, I won't eat again until after 5 pm. I can still have my serving of metamusal in awhile. (I always like to include my metamusal in hour commitments because it's a little like food to me... and crazy me, I like the taste!)1

There's no real right or wrong way to post here, it's mainly just posting goals that you want to achieve that day and then posting back later saying how you got on! Keeping yourself accountable
A lot of the time goals can be the same most days, but don't let that put you off because doing something consistently over time makes it a habit.
Some people have long lists, some people have short lists, some people have the same list every day because they want to focus on particular things. And most people have a mixture of fitness goals and home goals (like doing the dishes 😂)
And we all love a bit of chit chat too!
So where do you struggle the most with your food/exercise? What is it you want to change?

Eugh not done so great the last few days.
And not over eating, more under eating.
Just got home stress, you know how it is lol.
Sorted most the problems today so can relax a bit for now.
I logged today, unfortunately I can't complete diary because it's too little calories. Although atleast I can have guilt free snacking tonight and can complete it later.
As of now I've ate 825 calories and burned off 275 for 20K steps. So all I've had is 550 calories today. Doesn't surprise me why I feel so rough and tired!
Anyway there's always tomorrow! (And late night snacks 😂)4 -
10K not 20k steps. Lmao think I'd be dead of I did that many x1

Have had a dreadful day of stress eating, pizza, chocolate and no exercise!!
Just need to get my commitment to tomorrow being a better day.. out of my head and into the world. Who knows, maybe it will stick if I do that?!! 🤣
Hi! Set goals for the day (or the hour!), check back in the next day and then set new goals. I find that having a tiny bit of accountability helps.
There isn't a right way or a wrong way, but the best goals, generally, are SMART:
Specific
Measurable
Actionable
Realistic
Timebound...just for today!
You can google SMART goals for lots more ideas about how to set goals that really work.
My goals are pretty simple at the moment because I am just getting started again, but they will get harder and more specific over time.3 -
So the weekend and yesterday were a complete *kitten* show. We finally got the letter Friday night that explained that Matt got denied any more unemployment because his previous employer finally got around to looking at the claim and realized why Matt was let go in the first place (an angry, public outburst about something that happened that was exacerbated by his brain damage). But because we didn't have any kind of documentation with the company about his disability, there was no way we could fight either the termination of employment or the termination of unemployment benefits.
Then later that night, I was researching the amount of money Matt would get while on disability, and it is actually less than what he was getting on unemployment which was pretty much pennies. And the claim can take anywhere from 3-6 months to be processed, and then he won't get his first payment until 6 months after his claim is approved... So now, he has no source of income except what he MIGHT make working on bicycles.
The other problem is that Matt has fallen into the deepest depression I've ever seen. He is completely and totally hopeless, joyless, and lacks all motivation to do absolutely anything.
Oh! And I forgot the fiasco with jury duty which is partially my own disability's fault. He was supposed to show up for Jury Duty tomorrow, but I put off actually figuring out how to get him excused for like a month. I called the doctor 2 weeks ago and asked for an excusal letter bc there's just no way his brain will let him be able to do it. It's just not possible. On Friday, I went to the website to fill out the form, and I found out that he needs to have an official form filled out and signed by his doctor. I put in the request for the excusal anyway, and on Saturday, I got the email that it was denied, and he had to either get the form filled out and emailed back or show up in the state capital 2 counties away. Since it was Saturday, I couldn't call the doctor and go, "Hey, can you fill this out for me?". So Monday, I dropped off the letter to pick it up today.
So all of this compounded yesterday when I realized that Matt had given up all hope and was so completely guilt-ridden about the money issues that he was barely living, let alone thriving as I needed him to. So I reached out to my parents and to an amazing pastor friend I work with. And decided to start spending time with the Lord again.
So yesterday and this morning, I did that. I listened to many sermons from a pastor that a few coworkers had suggested(Steven Furtick is AMAZING btw) and realized that I couldn't fix Matt. And if I tried, all I would do is burn myself out and end up in the same boat as him. So I decided to start taking care of myself first and foster my faith again.
Well, then this morning happened!
So I'm off today, and I wanted to sleep in until 10 am because I actually had a chance to. But I woke up when Matt came to bed around 8 am (even longer story than this one. Lol), and we cuddled and talked a bit, and he told me that he wanted to see a psychiatrist about his depression because he knows this isn't something he can just push through like he can with most things. I had asked him about it over the weekend, and he said he didn't want to.
So that's miracle number 1!
As for miracle number 2,
I got an email from the NJ Jury Management office that Matt's been excused from jury duty! I didn't even get a chance to go pick up the form from the doctor, let alone scan it and email it back in. They just decided that they didn't want him and gave him a free pass! Thank you, Jesus! Because I was legit freaking out about what would happen when he missed it.
We are still in dire straights money-wise, but once Matt gets the help he needs, he'll be able to do more things and actually get the workshop up and running! So that will really really help. He has his first appt with his new neuropsychologist on Thursday, so hopefully, that will start us on the track to getting him onto disability which will also help.
And I realized I did pretty much everything on the To-Do list already today. I didn't realize it until I looked at it a few minutes ago. Lol, I'm going to post it anyway so that I can see all that I've done!
