Looking for friends who are losing weight without a God's help.

Psalm 4.97 - You only have yourself to blame for getting overweight. You only have yourself to credit for your success.

    what does it matter anyway?
  • Sorry no atheist here. But my view is God gave me this perfectly good body and gave me the responsibility, opportunity and choice to take care of it.
So no God's help in losing weight.

Maybe she doesn't appreciate being preached to/at. So in a way, it does matter.

Basically fed up with all the God chat on here - it is really inappropriate imo. Don't see why I can't try and seek out some rational thinkers for friends, in the same way people look for God worshipers for friends.

Well if it bothers you so much why don't you just tell them up front your not interested (if they decide to "preach") and carry on with the friendship? I'm not saying this in a rude way just so you know.

I do think the "God chat" is inappropriate on here. It shouldn't matter . But then I suppose everybody is entitled to their opinion , and if that is what is giving a person inspiration....live and let live. Atheism discussions equally inappropriate!

I haven't seen much "God chat" on here, compared to other forums.

I agree with you. Not meaning to disrespect anybody but I do not not believe in god and while I totally respect everyone elses views I don't feel comfortable having them thrust upon me at all and there's a lot of that goes on here but hey! Each to their own, I wouldn't have been daring enough to post this.

Feel free to add me for practical advice and support x

I agree wholeheartedly. I just don't understand the "haters".
edit: on either side. I hope everyone has success with losing weight.

I hardly think the OP was being a 'hater'.
In my opinion, that term is bandied about way to often, and seems to be a shorthand for 'someone who expresses a view I don't like'.

    I accept you! :)

I think I understand where the author of this thread was going and I don't understand why people are questioning her. Similar to what someone else said, if you don't like her point of view, then just ignore it. Don't go to a thread marked "looking for some good atheist support" if you take issue with atheists! ;)

The "God talk" doesn't bother me much to tell you the truth but, if someone were constantly aiming religiosity toward me, it may start to become grating. I just ignore any religious inspiration on here. Hey, if that's what helps you then more power to you! To each their own!

ya...its just like these forums..its ok to post things about christian support, or married people support etc etc...but soon as you post gay or lesbian or now atheist support, is when all heck breaks loose and people get all defensive. saying 'what does this have to do with weight loss' blah blah, same old rhetoric. and we can say the same to those god lovers..if you dont like gay or atheist talk dont read it..dont be hypocrites

It isn't hate, just people with different views and everybody is entitled to try to find like minded people on here to support and motivate. Religion makes some uncomfortable, to others it is a major positive part in their lives and they talk about God a lot of course they do and good for them but some people don't like to hear it.

In that case. Maybe us atheists can carry on our conversation in peace. THANK YOU.

So, question #1. Is being godless better or worse for weight loss? Kneeling does burn more calories than thinking folks....

Also, if I thought I was losing weight to keep myself out of hell (gluttony is a supposed sin after all) I might be less likely to have a naughty chocolate bar.

Seriously does that happen? That's pretty sad, I would have thought that if some was asking for support it has everything to with weightloss regardless of what their religion, race, sex or sexual preference! Everyone faces challenges on the road and if you can find people who understand it's going to be helpful in the long run.

Exactly!! Here is one woman, looking for a certain kind of person. I've seen some posts on here "looking for 5 ft tall women", "Looking for people from the UK", "looking for people with 40lbs to lose", these posts don't apply to me I wouldn't go and challenge the posters' reasons, I would just accept that that is a person looking for something I am not. I would not become offended, that's one reason I am uncomfortable with religion, everyone's veins seem so set, no room for others opinions. Get off your high horses and leave the conversation if you don't like it.
