@polskagirl01 Love that race shirt! I would wear the crap out of that shirt. Nice run up the mountain too. I laughed at you making it through the whole run unscathed then tripped on the sidewalk!
@SummerSkier I got my booster several weeks back. I timed in to get it after a long run since I wouldn’t be running the next day just in case I didn’t feel great. I felt fine but I also never had a significant reaction to the first 2 shots either.1 -
Nov total: 5.3/70 miles
11/2: 2.2 miles
11/3: 3.1 miles
Did the first couple of miles with my husband then peeled off to round out 3 miles. He is struggling to get back into the habit of a training plan so I try to run a bit with him if I can just to get him out the door. I really hope he sticks with his plan and we can actually do the HM together.6 -
11-1 7k easy
11-2 7k easy
11-3 7k slow
11-4 rest
November Total: 21k
November Goal: 180k
I am firmly in the grip of the covid booster monster; it was all I could do today to put on my socks and shirt.
@shanaber Thanks for the tip!!
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

@shanaber Great pictures!
@polskagirl01 Congrats on your 3 year streak! You’re awesome!
@Tramboman Hope you feel better soon from your booster.
Since I have an all day online training, I am working from home today. I decided to go out for my run this morning. It was about 48 degrees. My training run again called for 20 minutes at 11:13-12:13 pace. My watch told me twice that I was too fast, so I *thought* I was slowing down, but my pace turned out to be 10:48. Oops. With warmup and cooldown added, I ran 2.4 miles.
This weekend I should start some different kinds of runs, including strides, thank goodness.
Training runs: 2/16
Total miles: 4.716 -
Hope you feel better @Tramboman. It's so variable how the booster affects people.
Date :::: Miles :::: Cumulative

11/03/21 :::: 3.2 :::: 7.3
11/04/21 :::: 2.1 :::: 9.4
Treadmill warm-up before strength training today. I meant to get there earlier, but as usual didn't drag myself out on time. I thought about running after work to add a little more because I'm getting behind on miles. But it's my birthday and I am going to choose walking the dog and then going out to a nice dinner.5 -
Lately my only option during the week is the treadmill and I am so over it. I am very much looking forward to some trail time this weekend.
11/1 3.2
11/3 3.2

11-1 7k easy
11-2 7k easy

11-4 4k slow
November Total: 25k
November Goal: 180k
Liar liar pants on fire!!!
As the morning went along, I was feeling better, and thought I could get away with a slow run if I didn't do anything crazy. Looked for deer tracks in the frosty grass, but didn't see any. It was mostly sunny in the low 30s F, with just a light breeze from the northwest.

I'm feeling your pain from falling. Today everything hurts, and I think it's honestly more from the fall than the mountain. Hopefully it will just be like this today and I can get back to normal tomorrow. But then my daughter tripped going out the door this morning and is now similarly injured. Seriously, no one else needs to join this club! Be careful, everybody!4 -
I think I forgot to post yesterday, so here is the recap:
Wednesday: Easy 5.5 miles, combination of DG path around the lake, a little road and some RTP trails.
Today: 7.5 miles, easy effort with 6x12 second strides, 1:00 jog recovery. <-- This is one of my favorite types of workouts. I LOVE to run fast and get the legs moving.
Month: 18 miles
Goal: 165 miles3 -
I wanted to run this morning, but an appointment I had this afternoon got bumped up to this morning. Not too sad about that as it is currently POURING. Of course I run in the rain in Seattle, but prefer it to be our usual light misting rain - not this bone-soaking type!4

Happy birthday @katharmonic 🥳1

Today was another 25 minute run of 3km.
It was a bit warm and sunny for me but I managed it without stopping, except once when crossing a road. Hate waiting for cars!
5 -
Happy Happy Birthday @katharmonic! Hope you had an amazing fun day!
No run for me again today. Had a bone density test in the morning and then appointments all day for work on our house and real estate scheduling on the house where we are staying (final clear out of all the junk, cleaning and then the open house with the realtor). Got window coverings for our house ordered for all the windows but have a 6-8 week delivery delay! In just a few days though we will be back in our house and I can't wait!

Happy birthday @katharmonic !
10k today, planned easy run but it was too cool to run easy. We’ve gone straight from “sweat through a singlet” weather to “wearing sleeves and shivering until you warm up after the first couple miles” weather. Last night we had our first freeze. Oh well, at least all the mosquitoes are dead now!
So, due to being chilly we went out too fast, my usual easy pace is 10:52 like clockwork but first mile was under 10. Took a brief walk break in an attempt to reset, same thing happens when we start up. Just did not feel like running slowly! So we ended up doing a sort of unplanned Galloway method tempo run, fastest 10k since my husband got a Strava account in August - which is not saying much, 1:02 - but that’s pretty fast for walking a good portion of the time. Felt pretty good. Will try for an easy run later this week on trails, since we aren’t doing Chuckalissa this week and should be on easy terrain.4 -
Good luck with your HM tomorrow @kgirlhart!
You've been training well so just go out and enjoy the experience 😊2 -

Hi all. Been busy busy still at work, getting up at 4:00 am is exhausting LOL, then stupid me told a friend who is a race director sure I’ll help with your race this weekend…at hour from home…starting at 6:30 am
Trying to catch up on the posts from the 1st of the month.
@kgirlhart and @martaindale good luck on the half, you’re going to kill it
Happy birthday @katharmonic
@CarsonSurfs I’ll to go look at my race shirts, great question. I think the shirt from my first 5K I recently got rid of (I’m trying to slowly purge stuff out of my house). Some of my shirts are part of my daughter’s t-shirt quilt. If she really loved to still wear a shirt but wanted it in her quilt I gave her mine for the quilt if it was one I didn’t wear.
@martaindale sorry to hear about the fall “good faller” just cracked me up. I’m a professional trail faller and lots of scars and hardware to prove it ha ha. That is the rough thing about running in the fall on trails is the leaves hide so much. Pretty pictures
@quiteryoyo sorry your back is giving you trouble
@johnisrunning I can relate to the sluggish, I swear I was born to be an ultra runner LOL I always feel like crap the first 2 or 3 miles, around 3.4 I start to feel good.
@mshawski I’m a shirt and medal wh*** (don’t want my government computer picking up that word LOL). Give me good swag and I’ll sign up to run pulling a sled behind me in August.
@rheddmobile I almost spit out my drink at “race pants” OMG what a great idea, why aren’t race directors getting like sweat pants made. You’re on to something here.
@polskagirl01 you have the coolest race shirts! Congrats on the streak.
@ssseattle I’ll run in cold and rain but not cold rain. That’s where I wimp out. Pouring rain I just can’t seem to start in, I’ll keep going if I’m out there, but starting is hard.
I think some of you will remember last XC season my friend’s coaching business put on a big XC meet here in town and HS runners from all over the country came, national records were set etc? Well the meet is going to be even bigger this year and GARMIN is now sponsoring the event. I’m so excited to Will and his team, what a great thing he has going on there. They put on the best trail races around here and I’m super excited for him.

And today, pseudo winter has arrived.
Woke up to a brisk 34°F. My SoCal wife swore she would perish is she had to leave the house. I, on the other hand, love running in cold weather. So, I donned my shorts, threw on a base layer and technical top, grabbed my hat and gloves and out the door I went. Headed over to the woods. I had to do a bit on the DG around the lake to wait for the sun to come up. There was frost on the grass and a heavy layer to lake effect fog hanging over the water. This coupled with the pinks and reds of the impending sunrise really added to the bucolic nature of the surroundings. As soon as it was light enough, I headed into the Forbidden Woods. Got a couple miles in there. I didn't want to go too deep as I had to get the car home to get the little to school. I still needed a couple miles, so I finished up in the RTP trails across the road because I know those trails like the back of my hand. All in all, an awesome run on the first really winter like day here in RTP.

Partly cloudy, mid 30s F, and just a little wind today. Legs felt a little heavy, but not too bad.

First run of the month: 5.1 miles, average pace of 9:55 min per mile with 581 feet of elevation.
Due to work and family commitments I can only run 2-3 times a week. I struggle with this as running is my 'me time' and what I used to switch off from everything.
Got a 7 hour timed trail race on Sunday. Hoping to run ultra marathon distance of 30+ miles. Weather is looking dry and around 13 degrees in termerature, so good conditions.8 -
Happy belated @katharmonic!
Ran 3 in very brisk 25 degree weather this morning. I may need to lean on this group's sage advice for winter running gear. I haven't gotten it right after all the years on and off running in the winter. Part of the problem is I walk a mile before running (my very achy body dictates I need a walk before running to avoid injury) so I'm either FREEZING during the walk, or comfy during the walk and a sweaty mess during the run. I can't figure out the layering between the two. What's you're favorite winter gear? (Happy to be redirected to a previous convo if it's already been had - and sorry for the repetition if it has )
ALSO - suggestions for shoes for running on unplowed trails? Is it ok with the right shoes or a straight up femur death sentence?
November mileage:
R: 10/60
