Mostly cloudy, mid 30s F, with a gusty southwest wind driving the occasional snowflake. Had about 2 inches of snow yesterday, so I got to see deer tracks and otter tracks. Legs are not liking this no rest November stuff. Wait until they find out they're going to be running daily until golf season starts up again in April!!!
@katharmonic Great job on your half!!!

I had a crazy week last week as my youngest kiddo had to stay out of school and get tested due to being a close contact. Thankfully everyone is negative and healthy.
I'm plugging along still trying to reach my 1000 (176.4 to go) miles for the year. This will be my lowest mileage total in 3 years but I am finally feeling injury free

Got out this morning for a walk. My car was back in working order after about a month to get it fixed so I went into town so I could walk my favorite trails along the canal. I parked my car at the Cancer Center because when I got back from my walk I needed to drop of the crocheted afghans I made for the cancer patients. It’s a ministry I do. When I get through with the afghans I package them in a storage bag and put in a laminated 8 X 10 card with an uplifting scripture verse to bring them some hope and that they can also frame it.
Mileage for November:
11/11 2.0 miles walk
11/15 6.4 miles walk
Total miles walked 8.4 with my goal being 30 miles this month. I don’t like this new format

I ended up missing my Friday and Saturday runs in favor of painting our downstairs family room. Seems my old body can't handle 6 hours of edging and painting ceilings on top of running. LOL. Back on the trail today.

So far behind on the posts!
Sunday Skip and I ran in the Battleship 12K in Mobile right near her college. We had a great time, this was without a doubt the straightest route I have ever run, pictures in spoiler. I got down to Mobile Friday night, we spent the day doing stuff together, like lunch picking up our packet etc. The weather said 37F at the start but sunny, I was okay shorts and short sleeve shirt, then someone told me over the water it’s really breezy on the bridge, okay shorts and long sleeve, wish I had the short sleeve, but I was still good. We started on the main street and went downhill about a mile going the opposite way on an off ramp to the “causeway” aka old 98 bridge to the Battleship Memorial Park. As you entered the park they gave you a small American flag to carry in, lots of American flags everywhere, great crowd support and they announced your name as you came to the finish. As usual I was running alone, Skip finished 30 minutes ahead of me. I was happy just running a long at my whole pace, lots of people who started out faster were walking so I passed bunches of people. I thought I’d finish in 1:45, I thought 1:30 would be a miracle, my watch said 1:36, but my chip time they sent me was 1:30.30. I did start my watch before I got to the start line when the starting cannon went off but don’t think it took me 6 minutes to get there. It’s all good, Skip’s time was weird too. She finished 5th is her AG and was happy with that, I was like 25th in mine, I was happy to finish good and run the entire race so win for us.
Races:
Spooktacular 5K – Oct 30th
Battleship 12K in Mobile – Nov 14th

@skippygirlsmom great race!!!
@julieannegannon I love the afghan! When I lived in PA I was part of a group of ladies who gathered to make knotted blankets that mostly went to the Ronald McDonald House. I was in a separate group that hand-quilted quilt tops people brought to us. We had a long waiting list, and people had to pay a donation for our work, so we basically funded the materials for the blanket group. I was - by far - the youngest lady in the group, and they taught me so much about quilting and other things. I got good at it too and sometimes took on commission pieces on the side (like Grandma passed away and her kids brought me her old quilt tops and I'd get to finish them in the antique style). So many fun memories with those ladies.
Sorry I'm not talking about running 😝 Wednesday will be 2 weeks since my last run. Unless you count the almost 400 meters I did today before getting in the water at Polar Bear Club. Maybe I'll try a longer walk tomorrow.9 -

Short 4 mile run whilst eldest Son was at Karate training, very slow pace of 10:40 min per mile and 319 feet of elevation. Just 'not feeling it' today where every step from the start felt like hard work.
Also, now that it's dark at 4:30pm I hate running in the evenings. Just can't seem to get used to it and it just feels a lot more difficult. Doesn't make any sense as I can run the rockiest of trails, be ankle deep in mud etc, but there's just something about night running that I dislike.
Hopefully tomorrow's run will be better.
November cumulative:
52.9 miles & 3,811 feet of elevation.8 -

@Scott6255 @quilteryoyo Thanks for your nice comments and sorry about your ailments.
30 minute run today on a cool and still morning. *Nearly* 4 km. Even a couple of little hills! Yay!
This was the last workout in Couch to 5K and I'm now supposed to be able to run 5 km but I'll do some intermediate runs before that.5 -
@skippygirlsmom @katharmonic great job on your races!
@julieannegannon very nice afghan, and such a nice sentiment.
Thanks for the hugs and suggestions. I've tried zero drop shoes before, but I didn't like them I know it takes awhile to acclimate to them, but I don't think they are for me.5 -
Nov total: 30.6/70 miles
11/2: 2.2 miles
11/3: 3.1 miles
11/5: 2.1 miles

11/10: 2.2 miles
11/14: 3.5 miles

My family went out to our hill country house this weekend. My kid had a climbing competition on Saturday in a town only 35 mins from the house, so it worked out perfectly! We got to see some friends that live out that way as well. My last 2 runs were on the hills, which I haven’t done in about a month. Yesterday’s was hillier and my calves reminded me that they were still a bit tired from the race last weekend. Today, I drove to a different part of the neighborhood that has more long rolling hills than short steep ones. It was gentler on my legs. It’s a nice change when I am running back to back days out there.6 -
@Tramboman I won't tell your legs if you won't. Nice consistent running.
@run_sara_run Glad everyone is healthy. Also glad you are injury free. 1000 miles for the year isn't anything to sneeze at. You've done great.
@julieannegannon Glad you got your car back and had a nice walk. That afghan is really pretty. We have a group at our church that crochets prayer shawls. I got one when I had my surgery. It's a great ministry.
@johnisrunning My HR can be all over the place too. Sometimes I think it may be my monitor, but when I check it manually, it is usually pretty close. I often wonder if it is due to not drinking enough water or something. Nice run though.
@mshawski Yea. You don't want to overdo and get injured. I'm sure the family room looks great.
Congratulations to you and Skip on your race @skippygirlsmom . You both did great.
@polskagirl01 I think I would have been running away from the water, not into it. LOL I think I must have missed something. Are you injured?
You're doing great @SummerSkier !
@sweetdaisy13 Way to get through a tough run. I think you did great, faster than I can run on my good days.
@Orphia Congrats on finishing the C25K!

I wasn't supposed to work today, but one of the ladies was sick, so I went in from 10 - 3:30. I was in the 2-3 year old class today. They are very energetic. Fortunately, it was warm enough for us to take them to the playground this morning, so they ran most of their wiggles out. LOL After I got home, I did a run on the treadmill. It was supposed to be speed play today, but since I didn't run much last week, I decided to switch with tomorrow and do a foundation run - easy pace. I did run 4/1 minutes at 5.0/4.5 mph. I was pleased that it didn't feel hard, but I could feel my back tighten up. I'll be glad when I don't have to worry about that anymore. I ran 2.50 miles and walked one for warm up and cool down, total, at 3.8 mph.6

Thank you @marisap2010, @quilteryoyo, @polskagirl01, @Tramboman and @Scott6255
@polskagirl01 I can't remember what you are recovering from? Hope you are back to running soon.
@scott6255 I couldn't get used to zero drop shoes either and had a lot of calf pain from them when I wore them for a longer run after I thought I'd adapted to them. I've struggled some with shin pain on and off but I'm not sure what triggers it or what helps. I had a bout of it a few months ago. Not terrible pain but very persistent and then it just went away. So I have nothing to offer but sympathy.
@skippygirlsmom great race. That is a very straight route. Glad you and Skip had a good day!
@quilteryoyo glad your run didn't feel hard today. Hopefully worrying about your back will be a thing of the past very soon.
I didn't run today - no time to get one in before strength training today. This week is crazy before I leave Thursday morning for DC. I'm not hopeful about getting much running in all week.5 -
Thanks @katharmonic . I hope so too. I hope you are able to have a fun trip to DC. Is it work related or fun or both.0

@quilteryoyo it's for work - the presentation I mentioned I was throwing together, for a national convention. The presentation is *almost* done. Hopefully I will at least have some good food while I'm there! And relax in my hotel after the presentation is done.4 -

Went from partly cloudy to cloudy, low 30s F, with some ice that needed to be dodged. Only saw a couple of squirrels but a bunch of geese.
