Goal for this round: Maintain weight while continuing to focus on strength training and running
Previous days12/6 119 post workout. Did not post, had a work thing and the day got away from me.
11/28 121ish I think it was. I’m not sure if weight creep is happening or if it’s just water retention from the strength training/running at a higher level/where I’m at in my cycle/Thanksgiving splurges. This week I’m going to focus on my protein intake and reducing my sodium intake. All of the Thanksgiving leftovers are just about out of the fridge which is a good thing/I’m sick of the thought of even eating any. I indulged a little too much over the past few days with pumpkin and apple pie but that is now out of the way and I’m looking forward to having a good week.
Started the day with some toast and dandelion tea to help flush out some bloat and also upped the water. I made some cranberry sauce oat bars but have already shared half with my in-laws, had one for lunch with plain yogurt, and then froze the other 4 servings to have in the future. I find if baked goods are in the freezer, I am more likely to eat them more sporadically versus having them out. So, if I have a day where I can splurge on 400 calories (like my long run days), I will happily enjoy it. The good thing about the bars is that they are filled with healthy fats from the hazelnut meal and butter and a touch of fiber as well, so they are quite satisfying.
11/29 ? Not completely sure of my weight this morning. Ran 6 miles this morning and did my strength workout on my lunch. Food was good all day. Breakfast was toast and eggs, lunch was a protein shake plus an apple and peanut butter yogurt dip, dinner was pork tenderloin with roasted Brussel sprouts, fennel bulb and leftover fiber gourmet pasta with a touch of butter and Trader Joe’s cheesy seasoning blend. I decided that at least during the week I am going to cut a little bit of calories to slowly work my way back down to 114 over the next few months. I like that weight and know I’ll be able to get back to that point again or at least that size even if I weigh a little more because muscle takes up less space than fat… If I’m doing all this work to strength train, I would like to be able to see the definition at a leaner size. I should be able to go back to cutting 200 calories a day relatively easy on the days I strength train because I burn over 700 activity calories. Then on just my running days, I’ll cut 100-150 calories. Even with the cutting I will make sure I prioritize protein and make sure I get at least 100-120g per day.
Also will start tracking grams of protein here daily: 142g today.
11/30 121.something Feel good today. Accidentally ran longer than expected this morning clocking in at 6.8 miles because I miscalculated how far away from home I was during my run. Tomorrow will be a 5 mile run most likely. Food has been good today and I will be at 160 g of protein after I finish my chili for dinner tonight.
12/1 122.2 pre workout. Hoping this uptick drops soon. In general I feel good though and don’t feel like my body has gotten larger. I tried on a pair of my jeans and they still fit well, so that was a good thing and made me realize that I haven’t gained in the wrong places. I got a 5.6 mile run done this morning and a strength workout on lunch.
12/2 Got a solid 6 mile run in this morning with a few faster miles in at the end. Food was good yesterday but dinner ended up being salty even though I was within calories plus a 200 cal deficit, so it blew my weight up this morning. Protein clocked in at 119 grams and today will be 118.
12/3 121.8 Did not post.
12/4 121.4 I think it was. Happy to see some sort of drop. I got a slow run in yesterday but ended up doing too much and am now resting my knee for at least 4 days… I don’t think I kept up with stretching as much as I should have after my runs and I paid the price. On the bright side I was still able to do a nice 60 minute spin bike ride this morning without irritating my knee. Then I stretched for like 20 minutes afterwards. Food was good yesterday even though we got Thai for dinner last night. I chose a ginger chicken dish that was chicken, veggies and a ginger sauce with brown rice on the side. It was pretty satisfying and didn’t kill me with the sodium either because I only had a minimum amount of the sauce. Today my husband was craving chicken parm and I wanted pesto chicken with pasta. I ended up making my own pesto chicken and got takeout for him and was able to resist the take out which I see as a win. The kale cashew pesto from Trader Joes is so good and easy to toss with some Fiber Gourmet pasta and roasted chicken breast and topped with some freshly grated parmesan cheese. It was still a high cal meal but I was able to control the amounts and I still have 550 calories leftover for dinner tonight. I think we’re getting our Christmas tree today or tomorrow, so that’ll be fun!
12/5 121.6 Food was good yesterday and should be today too. My husband and I went for a nice walk this morning and my knee is feeling a bit better, so that’s a relief. Hoping to try running again on Wednesday. Smoothie and an oatmeal waffle for breakfast (both recipes from my current favorite cookbook Rise and Run). I made a batch of the waffles yesterday morning and froze the extras. They toast up so nicely. I’ll also be making some ginger molasses cookies for a cookie swap at work tomorrow. I plan on not eating a ton of cookies and won’t feel bad about tossing any cookies from the swap. I do plan to freeze some of the cookies I make because they are made with black strap molasses, whole grains, and have a good amount of potassium in each cookie. When I did the math they are only 100 calories each and would be a decent snack when I want something a little sweet but satisfying.
Got in 158 g protein yesterday and hopefully at least 100 grams of protein today but it might be a little short. I did check my 7 day average and it’s about 120 a day, so I’m right on target with where I want to be.
12/7 118.8 post workout. Most of my weights are measured after I workout because I like to try and get my “dry” weight because fluid fluctuates so much on me. It’s nice to see a little drop again. Did the spin bike yesterday and this morning for 60-minute rides. I also plan on strength training after work today because I didn’t get to it yesterday because I had to go into the office. I’m going to try and run tomorrow morning, so wish me luck that my knee is a bit better!
The cookie swap at work yesterday went well and I tasted a small piece of each of them and then threw them out afterward. So in all, I probably had the equivalent of 5 or 6 cookies versus 18. Not too bad in my book.
Nonscale victory if my measurements were correct, I lost another ½ in off my waist and ½ in off my hips since November 3rd.
Not sure of my protein intake as it was hard to track yesterday but I had a smoothie and protein shake for breakfast, ½ a chicken wrap for lunch, and rib-eye steak last night with roasted veggies. Today so far has been two eggs with leftover roasted sweet potatoes, Brussel’s sprouts and a whole wheat sandwich flat. Dinner will be bratwurst with potatoes, onions, and peppers.

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable but I’ve been doing it for over 4 years with amazing results!
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

11/28 - 180.8, Ave 180.5
Yesterday was still a challenge — still too many yummy leftovers — but they’re gone now. Back to the plan!
11/29 - 181, Ave 180.7
Boing boing. But it’s ok, just normal post-pig out bouncing. I’ve got half my office painted but have to paint in short spurts because of other things. I’ll be glad when it’s finished, and happily I love the dark green coziness of the color! Off now for a walk with Rory. He turned 5 months yesterday and is in full adolescent goofiness. Here’s a pic I took yesterday.
11/30 - 180.6, Ave 180.7
A little better. Now to keep going this direction!
12/01 - 180.8, Ave 180.8
It’s all on me—I had some chocolate fudge truffle ice cream last night, and dinner was a bit salty. I did spent 90 minutes walking/running/standing/moving equipment at doggy school, though, so I did get some exercise. Today I’m determined to get some more of my office painted—nothing scheduled except a puppy play date with a friend’s Golden, and she’s coming here. Otherwise, paint is me!
12/02 - 180.4, Ave 180.7
Slowly, slowly. Not unexpected since my calories average is still above maintenance, but I behaved myself yesterday and everything will level back out. All good!
12/03 - 180.4, Ave 180.7
Okie dokie.
12/04 - 181.8, Ave 181.2
Aaack! But this is time lag and salt, so I can live with it. I’m finally at the end of my office painting project—it has dragged on because of life. Just need to put to second coat on 2 walls and do a little touching up and then I can reassemble the room and get back to writing. Yay! I’ll post a couple of pics when I get it all put back in order. I hope your weekend is as fun as mine!
12/05 - 181.2, Ave 181.3
Ok, two days to get back to or below last round’s end weight. I can do it! Have a lovely Sunday, everyone.
12/06 - 180.2, Ave 181.2
A little better. Not sure I’ll get much exercise today—cold and very windy out—but I finished painting my office and need to reassemble and schlep books back, so that’s something. Plus doggy school tonight. 😁
12/07 - 180.6, Ave 181.1
Okay, pretty much a draw this round. I turned into a Cookie Monster last night, so I’m not too surprised. On to the next round!

Hi all, 😁 this will be my third round.
I have lost 10 pounds so far from highest from previous rounds.

Day/Weight/Comment
11/28/ 172.6/ dropped quite a bit from yesterday, recalculated my SW from 174.2, had lots of tea this morning, green, spiced and camomile, two wee mini burgers for lunch total cals 160. Feeling positive I can reach goal, once this round is over, if I stay on track, I'll have lost a full stone. A quarter of the way to my UGW.
11/29/ 171.8/ so close to my first benchmark, will try hard this week, plan to go swimming 😀
11/30/ 170.5/ didn't expect the drop, this is good, lots of herbal teas and moderate exersise, played pool for an hour last night. Had pie for dinner. Good news, getting there.
12/1/ 170.4/ kept within my calories for day yesterday, although I had a takeaway, its important for me to exersise more so going to horse riding tomorrow. Had a hot bath last night which is good for weight loss. Missed breakfast today as it was my day off and I slept in, so hoping the sleep burnt some extra cals through the night..I usually try for a 12 hour sleep on days I can, I sleep like a log. My pedometer arrived, so my steps where very low yesterday, it reset so I lost some data, but hoping to see what walking to shop counts as. Plan to just have a hotdog for dinner, should be enough, and tasty. Hope everyone else is keeping well, and reaching their goals 😊 gotta keep that mojo!
12/2/ 170.6/ went to country park for walk in morning, and also horse riding this afternoon, plenty of exercise is what I needed. Havnt ate much but my monthly is due so I'll prob make up for it next few days, I'll try my best 😊 also it's the weekend coming up, so will try not to snack. Had veges for dinner there, and will just drink herbal tea tonight.
12/3/ 170.6/ 😮 oh exactly same weight as yesterday, was stuck in car today for hours, few stop offs to get food, and when I came home had a blow out on crisps and three budweiser to relax since its been a while and it's the weekend. Will see in next few days if I can reach my target. Have four days to lose one and half pounds. Bad habits need to stop, my target was 1200cals, about 1700 atm and about go go to bed. So will try better tomorrow.
12/4/ 171.4/ didn't get exersise today as I was stuck in house, max 5200 steps, ate small portions tho.
12/5/ 170.2/ my pedometer reset but did over 6000 steps so far, it's 4.30pm, walked around shops, bought steamed veggies and fruit and lots of yoghurt. One pound to go until target, think I've done well today, busy day tomorrow, should get to target by 7th. 🙂 on monthly so when it finishes should drop enough I hope.
12/6/ 168.8/ went to art class today, and pool table session planned for later, long day, no time for snacking, reached target, will hopefully keep it off and stay stable tomorrow. Really want to lose 0.8 of a pound to be stone lost by tomorrow.
12/7/ 169.0/ stormy here today, so no walking, nipped out for a fast food meal eariler which I regret, but I am on monthly so temptation won over, going to do 20 minutes on excersise bike to make up for it, reached my target for this round! 😄 so all good, four pounds lost this week at lowest, bring on round 171! 😊8 -

Thank you all for another round!! Perfect timing - I need this again.
I'm a 5'7" 54yo woman in SE Michigan.
SW (this fall): 161 lbs
UGW: 145 lbs. (I'd be happy with 150 right now.)
Day/Weight/Comment
11/28 - 159.6 Ate OK during the day. Tracked all food. Ate dinner at friends' home, and she brought out the mint chocolate covered almonds after dinner. I indulged. 🙄
11/29 - 158.8 Snacked too much in the afternoon - got very hungry
11/30 - 159.4 Thought I ate OK but was way over WW points; did well controlling snacking and portions. Went for a 2 mile jog! My back was OK - a little sore a few hours later. I think I can work back up to regular jogging! My body was so happy to be active outside!!
12/1 - 158.6 Limited snacking; just one serving at dinner - but it might have been a bit more caloric. Didn't figure out calorie count. (Husband cooked.)
12/2 - 158.8 Jogged for 30 minutes; controlled snacking and ate well
12/3 - 158.0 Went to a nice restaurant for dinner with hubbie last night. Didn't have dessert but did eata full entree.
12/4 - 159.0 Not surprising after the restaurant last night. Church group meeting potluck tonight - that will be a challenge. Will go for a jog today! - I did manage a short jog.
12/5 - 158.8 2nd small group meeting today; I became socially exhausted and made OK choices - but not great
12/6 -159.2 Heavy payroll day
12/7 - 159.4 I'm disappointed to basically be back where I started 10 weeks ago; a weekend with several social events + a busy week (this one) have made it harder for me to stay on track. But I'm game for another start!!
Thanks for your understanding comment QuiltingJaine!7 -
I’m 5’7, 29 years old, female. I follow a lifting program and would like to decrease my body fat while maintaining muscle mass. My strength programming is 6x/week and I’m considering doing doubles twice a week since it’s so hard to fit in a workout when I leave for work at 6am and get home around 8pm 3x a week.
My starting weight in Oct 2021 was 156.6
Goals: stay in a mild calorie deficit, hit 110-140 grams of protein per day, avoid added sugars, 20-30 minutes of cardio on lifting days (4xweek, non-work days), add one day of double strength training per week.
Previous Days11/28 151.2 surprisingly stayed the same weight after the Thanksgiving feast yesterday. Cardio for the day 20 minutes of single arm devils press, overhead walking lunges, and box jumps. Reload week on my strength training programming, but still lots of Bulgarian split squats today (the worst move ever). Meal planned and bought groceries for the week. Dinner was sautéed mushrooms and riced broccoli with a balsamic reduction and baked tofu. Protein: 135g
11/29 150.2 woke up with a bit of a head cold, but the weather was lovely! I took a walk, did some a farmers carry step up and rowing workout for some cardio and then a press day for strength. I intended to do double strength today, but felt pretty sickly. Dinner was a bok choy, mushroom, soba stir fry with baked tofu. Protein: 143g
11/30 151.2 still have a cold, but it’s a minor annoyance and not a miserable bug.. Plus it’s during a stretch of 5 days off. Took a walk, did 20 minutes of KB swings, push-ups, wallballs, jump rope, lunges for cardio and then a light pull day. Dinner was spaghetti squash, mushroom, kale, leeks and seitan. Protein: 141
12/1 152.1 cold still lingering but improving. Another day in the 70’s (isn’t it December??), so I’ll take a nice walk. I’ve been double checking my recipes for accuracy since the scale hasn’t been moving but can’t find any discrepancies and I weigh everything to grams 🤷♀️ Rowing, DB snatch, sit-ups for cardio and light leg day for strength. Lunch will be leftovers as always, dinner is roasted cauliflower and chickpeas with a herbed tahini sauce and baked tofu. Protein: 131
12/2 151.8 workday 1/3. Thought the head cold was improving but I had awful sleep and today was rough! Last night’s dinner for lunch. Broccoli edamame fried brown rice and seitan for dinner. Protein: 118
12/3 151.4 workday 2/3. Leftovers for lunch. Roasted eggplant and chickpea pitas with seitan for dinner. Protein: 126
12/4 151.2 workday 3/3. I’m so grateful for my husband who makes whatever recipes I leave for him so that o have good lunches and dinners on my very long days! We have a good leftover lunch/ new dinner cycle going. Roasted carrot and potatoes with lentils and a miso parsley sauce. Protein: 122
12/5 149.4 Did a power snatch, thruster, rowing workout to get the heart rate up. Started a new cycle on my strength program that kicked it off with a ton of my favorite … Bulgarian split squats 🤪 My mom’s birthday was today and we had a family meal. I didn’t attempt to track it. I declined leftover cake though.
12/6 148.1 Ran around all day buying more Christmas decorations. Did a rowing, kettlebell, box jump workout for some cardio. Push day for strength. It’s always nice to switch over to a new lifting cycle. They normally last 6-8 weeks. Dinner was a stuffed bell pepper soup with seitan. Back to work tomorrow. Protein: 142
12/7 148.3 workday 1/2. Sesame soba with cabbage and peppers with baked tofu for dinner. Protein: 1354 -

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
