I heat up Crystal Light and drink it as if it were coffee. it fills me up and I like the lemon taste. I really like it in the evening when I want to eat and shouldn't.

I would love to know the science behind this. The only link referenced above is a livestrong article that quotes another article in the Daily Mail (*cough*)

Vitamin C is found in abundance is most fruits.

Methinks this is a potent placebo effect at work here - unless someone can show me a study by a medical journal.

Ok...I looked at both of those links. The first is about laxitive abuse, and the second mainly about ipecac and dangerous diet habits. They don't prove...or show ANYTHING to benefit lemon water.

Yes. . it is great. . . I add a bit of cayenne to it. . Just make sure that you brush your teeth well afterwards as to much citris can cause them to crack.

Half of a lemon diluted in a glass of water isn't going to do much of anything to your teeth. Now if you're sucking on the lemon directly...sure.

No offense...but the livestrong website is written by someone with a business degree, and the http://www.outofstress.com/lemon-water-lose-weight/ website is written by someone that does not say ANY credentials.

No offense to people...but you need to start looking at your sources. Anyone can say anything and it will get published in some "help yourself" type magazine or website. But...you need to find a registered dietician that has degrees to tell you legit info.

The Livestrong article is referencing material from a nutritionist(the original writer has a degree in JOURNALISM...not business). No offense, of course.

I was a waitress - oh about 30 years ago - in Alberta, and it was very common for customers to ask for warm water and lemon instead of coffee or tea. I never knew the benefits of it though.. Thanks for posting this and all the replies. Very good information!

Simple. Then don't try it. Good grief. She's just trying to share something that works for her.

If you could please send the link to that info, I'll retract my statement. However, I clicked on the links under "references" and there was nothing about anyone with nutrition info. And not all nutritionists need degrees. Hell,...I'm a nutritionist!

I agree! I understand if I was stating a diet pill or some quick fix diet plan, but this is just natural WATER and LEMON. If it can harm you in any way...then i'll be damned if I eat another fruit or drink water again! There are many people in this post stating that it works for them, it can't be that much of a load of bologna! Not to be offensive in any way, of course.

People asked for the medical research backing anything with this, someone tried to give that(not the OP) and they responded to what they saw. Simma down, have some lemon water.

I have no problem with people sharing what they think works....but there are some people who believe anything without doing any research into it. That's where my problem is.

If you want to try it.....go for it! I just have not seen anything shown on here that shows it works, scientifically.

Here's a tip: When you start a sentence with "no offense to people".....that means you already know what you're about to say is offensive. At that point, you should stop what you were about to type and think about a more constructive way of saying what's on your mind. It goes the same for, "not to be racist".....or "not trying to be rude, but"......

The link to that info? How about you try reading the article?? It's right there:

    Overview
Consider swapping your standard cup of coffee for a glass of hot water and lemon first thing in the morning, recommends nationally known nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, author of "Fat Flush for Life" and other books. The combination can benefit your body in numerous ways, including helping you to lose weight and keep hydrated, improving your digestion and upping your vitamin C intake. You can even spice up this morning drink to boost its benefits.

I guess you were on such a mission to debunk the article you didn't really care what it said.

eta: Just because I know you'll question this nutritionist now...here:
Gittleman was born in Hartford, Connecticut. She graduated from Connecticut College in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in English. She received teaching and principal certification from Hebrew Union College in 1976. In 1977, she graduated with a master's degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. She earned a Certified Nutrition Specialist credential from the American College of Nutrition, a non-profit nutritionist organization, in 1993.

In 2002, Gittleman was awarded a PhD in Holistic Nutrition from the non-accredited and controversial[1] Clayton College of Natural Health.
