This sounds just like something I need! 36F here. Put on weight last year due to some stuff that happened. Almost starting again from scratch but I'd love some chats.4

I’m so glad I saw this group! I’ve been looking for a supportive place for women here on MFP and would love to join. I’m 36 and focusing on daily exercise, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, hitting my calorie goal, and doing mindset work (keeping a fitness journal and meditation). This past year I’ve learned a lot about what does and doesn’t work for me now (vs my 20s). I’ve lost weight (20-35lbs each time) successfully and then gained it all back (+ 5-10lbs) multiple times in the past but I’m taking a new approach focused on lifestyle change and sustainable habits. I feel confident about keeping and building on my new habits as we head into 2022. If there’s anyone who wants to connect, please send me a friend request! I’m new to using the MFP community section even though I’ve used MFP for many years. I’ll try to check in here too but would love to have connections that I could interact with on food logging, exercise, weight loss posts, too. Wishing you all success and health in the new year!5

@makattack220 I appreciate your reflection about learning "a lot about what does and doesn't work for me now (vs my 20s)." I am in my 40s and I find that I just keep building upon my self knowledge here. I've done so much trial and error that I have narrowed things down a bit! It's been helpful.3 -
Welcome to the group ladies. How are we all doing? Happy new year1

Happy New Year everyone!
It's already halfway through the first day of the year and I feel awful. I'm not hung over, I'm grappling with the idea of a new year, the first year of my life wihout my dad. Not knowing how I will enjoy anything good that might happen without being able to tell him about it.
But I've been for a short walk and had a mango smoothie, they didn't make me feel any better, but they didn't make me feel worse either, so thats important too. One step at a time and one littke improvement on my health each day. I'm here for the fitness more than the weight, I want to have more energy and ability, so every little step counts.

Ok Kate, get the batteries and let's get this year started off right!! I'm so excited to see what this year has in store for us all!!0 -
Happy New Year ladies! What a crazy last couple of years huh? I'm 45 and have been on MFP for a long time, always seem to come back to it. I feel best when I log, drink lots of water, get enough sleep, and move my body. I'd like to lose about 35 lbs. Thinking of re-joining a gym to try the rowing machine. This year one of my goals is to make more connections so feel free to add me!1

Hello ladies! My name is Kim and I am looking for a good accountability group or person. I am 45 with 2 kids 21 and 11. I've been on MFP for a while. I lost about 30lbs and then gained it back a few years ago. I now know it's not only what you eat, but how much you eat and your mindset about it all. I am looking to change habits and work on myself while losing the weight. I want to lose 15lbs by the end of March. I know it can be done. I would like to lose it by increasing my daily water intake and portion control. I eat when I am hungry and stop when I have had enough. If this is something that interests you feel free to add me or message me. If we can still do that lol, I have not been on MFP for a while and it looks like they updated a lot. Hope to hear your thoughts soon!!2

@bosskitty Also doing dry January here! A good start to the year so far and noticing lots more available calories when logging and not adding in alcohol!!0
-
So everyone. I now have 101lbs to lose. It's going to take a lot of time, consistency and motivation but I know i can do this!! One day at a time. My goal for end of March (12 weeks) is to drop 24lbs! Let's go!3

Exactly @metaphysicalstudio - I'm keeping it simple, focusing on the basics. I don't need to constantly try to wonder if I'm eating the right foods at the right times, etc etc (trial and error, doubting myself, deep diving re: nutrition at the library have just led to yo-yos for me!). I want to just be consistent with the basics and go from there.
Happy New Year everyone!1 -
Hi guys, 4 days in and 4lbs down 🥳
Weighing bloated after Christmas and the day before AF has it’s advantages!!!
I guess most is water weight but I’m feeling good so far!
How has everyone else found the beginning of the year?3 -
Hey everyone, I'm up 10lb so back on track to lose it. Feel free to add me!2

Morning all. Turning 45 this year in august and my goal is to hit 140. Currently 163. Have a few extra Xmas lbs there. Lowest weight last year was 156. Have 2 kids boy 16 (just got his liscense) and girl 13 (14 in March)
Back at it today. New year reset. Going to be slow at it. Did this last week. Was stepping backwards off of our back step clearing snow in the -35C coming from a warm vehicle and I seriously pulled my calf. So I couldnt walk for a few days. Then Started limping around. Went shopping yesterday and obviously over did it cause my leg is aching today. So will do some stuff. But don’t think I will be able to hit the treadmill. Was hoping to do a slow walk on it.

Take it slow girl. That looks bad for just pulling a muscle last week.2 -
@jonsek it’s going slow over here. I’m trying to set small goals daily.
@Tattoos_and_Tea good luck! You got this!

Hi all,
I'm working on my small habits, longer extended fast each day, and water. But I don't have room to exercise at all now that we're packing. I've been working on playing music to keep focused and get stuff done, so that's good!
@20KimmieKim16 ouch! Take care of yourself!1 -
Sounds awesome! Thanks!1

Day 5 of January! I’m petite and small boned at 5ft 2.
MFP has recommended 1260 calories per day. I’m sticking to it and my diary is ram packed with healthy, enjoyable foods with good range of fiber, protein and healthy snacks … but I’m HUNGRY!!
I haven’t been eating back my exercise calories and have lost 5.8lbs in 5 days (lots of water weight)
I’m going to give it a few more days then I might start eating back some exercise calories and see how that goes.
What is everyone else’s plan? How are you all getting along?1 -
Hi, ladies! 36 y/o here who also gained during lockdowns. I’ve been a MFP user for years, of course on and off, and I’m a yo-yo-er as well. I don’t do fad diets on and off, just calorie counting on and off.
I’m an experimenter with my body and have watched a lot of docus about weight loss and myths, so I know what I need to do, and yet…
My constant struggle is with my addictive voice telling me to eat junk. And I have no idea why! It’s this lizard brain that moves my feet to the fridge before my human brain realizes what is happening! Quite wild. I’ve taken to yelling at myself out loud when these thoughts creep.
In my self-experimentations and self-learning, I’ve discovered that I’m a feaster, so the best option for me is one meal a day.
I’ve discovered that my body LOVES fasting and responds quite well to it (no, duh, you’re not eating!). The way I make it sustainable now is one meal a day.
Previously, I’d go more than 24 hours without eating (don’t freak out, I put my caloric goals into a weekly form instead if daily, so I was always at my correct daily average calories), and this was wildly successful for me - losing > 20 lbs in ~2 months. That was when I was employed, however.
Then I moved to Germany and changed my career to be freelance. I cannot do more than 24 hours fasting (OMAD), so I just eat dinner every day and try to keep busy or distracted during the day.
Anywhoo, sorry for the rambling, but I’ve been looking for a support group (maybe especially for anyone who may have food addiction tendencies), and you ladies all seem very nice.
Thanks for the community!3
