You know, I have a mum of 3 as an MFP friend, and it really drove home when she posted about food prep, etc that as a retired, 60+ person - I have it so easy!
So although there maybe some obstacles that come with weightloss & aging, there sure are some benefits! At least for me, in my position. I can focus on me. And I am sooo grateful. And I also have all the wisdom of my previous efforts ๐๐ ๐7 -

This is exactly how I feel. For me, the best part is that in the winter months I now get to walk, ski, snowshoe, or hike, in daylight! When I worked full-time I would stop at the gym on my way home (of course it was also the busiest time at the gym) and the only time I was able to be outside in daylight was on the weekends. I would walk the dog in the dark. I would go skiing in the dark. But now I get to do it all during the day! ๐

Greetings, all. Got a weekend away Saturday and Sunday. Helped to unwind a little bit. Scale was up big this morning - no surprise. Should settle out in a couple of days. Ready for more fun and games! HAHA!๐๐ Trying to maintain my "attitude of gratitude".
Keep fighting the good fight, people! You all are an inspiration to me!9 -
Just dropping in to say hi and hope everyone had a great weekend.1

Hello, everyone. I'm trying again, but need to try harder. I need to eat less when I'm cooking! Just went up 1.6 lbs since yesterday. I overdid it with Chinese cooking. I lose, start cooking (nothing exaggeratedly unhealthy), eat, plateau, gain, and get frustrated. Where is my will power of the past?
So happy my little Boston Terrier is better. Really worried last Friday.
Will exercise today, bike and pulleys, finish housework (ughh), get back on constructive schedule and be mindful of my eating!
Have a good day!3 -

Just checking in to see how everyone's week is going so far. I have been tracking my food everyday and have been at or below my Calorie goal. I got out to walk 2 times so far. My goal next week is to walk at least 3 days. I usually walk for about 25/30 at our local arena as it has a nice level walking path. My knees, hip and back have been very sore this week. I had an acupuncture and massage appointment this week hoping that they would help with the pain. I have had acupuncture before and it seemed to help for awhile. The massage therapy is new and I preferred it to the acupuncture as I felt it help more.
My name is Sherri and I live on British Columbia.
Good luck to everyone and have a great weekend2 -

Hey @Sistersue3285 - I am from BC too! Hello! Good for you getting out and walking.
Everyone that has a little pedaller:
- do you actually use yours? How & when.
- if you were to purchase a new one, would you get the same one, or ?? Brand/model recommendations please ๐
Thanks group! ๐1 -
Good morning all. I thought I wrote in to join, but maybe I posted somewhere else by accident.
I'm 64, facing bariatric surgery, and want to do all I can to not have to do that. I've got a goal to lose 125 pounds. Bad knees, bad back, heart condition but I want to be healthier and lighter.
I want to look back in 3-5 years and say I'm glad I did this.
Support, encouragement, accountability, Joy and laughter is what I'm looking for.8 -
Welcome to those new and returning!
Yes, this stuff can work for our demographic. I used MFP while losing 50+ pounds (class 1 obese to a healthy weight) back in 2015-16 when I was 59-60, and have been maintaining a healthy weight since, still using MFP routinely, now age 66.
Dunno whether it's easier for men, or not . . . I've never been one. ๐
Seems like time I should report in, just to wave at y'all, and cheer y'all on, whatever your current goals may be. Usually, I'm doing that quietly from the sidelines, reading the thread regularly and enjoying everyone's updates. Keep 'em coming: If we don't encourage each other, who will?
I've been totally boring, so nothing useful to post here: Other than going out for groceries and what-not, and getting meals and workouts in, I'm not doing much worth describing.
Thanks to a few post-holiday indulgences, I'm still sitting a little (1.6 pounds this AM) above the midpoint of maintenance range, but not too stressed about it. I'm doing OK on strength training (which I try to add back into my routine in January), and alternating machine rowing and stationary bike 6 days a week.
We got 10-12" or so of snow on Wednesday, but I was already quite hibernate-y, so it was nice to look at, not much inconvenience. That's not massive snow in some places, but it's unusual (not unique) all in one day for us here in mid-Michigan. My (80-year-old) neighbor, who is a prince of kindness, drove his riding snow-blower over - twice! - and cleared my driveway, saving me several hours of shoveling. (I don't mind shoveling; it's a good workout. But it's nice not to have to bother.)
This is a view of the back yard, part way through the snow accumulation: It's kind of Christmas-card-like, when we get a snow that's fluffy because it's cold, and there's no wind to blow it off the trees and such.
Have a great, productive February everyone!7
