I had two NSV's today! One was that, after a long day, I came home and made a healthy dinner (chickpea and rice casserole with turk'y cutlets and gravy) instead of getting takeout.
The other one was, while the casserole was cooking, I got in a quick weight workout-- it's the first time I've worked with weights since last year and the first time I've done any kind of workout since getting COVID back in mid-January. The weights were really light, but I'm proud that I got up and made the time to be active again

I'm back on MFP for the first time in a long time. I'm really, really tired of the way I feel and look.
One day down and lots more to come.30 -
My NSV is seeing full body photos of myself about a year apart, and noticing how small my legs have gotten!

I'm only two weeks in, but my underwear around my bum are quite loose

I was able to size down in work-out leggings, from a large to a medium. I haven't been a medium in so long! My rings are also becoming too loose (which makes me sad, but it is a constant reminder that I am making progress).21

I went from Size 16 pants to size 12. They still feel a bit snug, but losing 5 Ibs more should make them fit looser.22

My goals might be a bit different from some of you on here but I still have days that are an emotional battle as well. I have lost and kept off 30 pounds for the past 3 years and have been working the past 2 years on recomping my body through weight lifting and nutrition. Right now, I am trying to build more muscle, so I started eating more, and those memories of carrying extra weight are suffocating me.
When I was in college, I gained weight and was about 160 pounds (my highest weight too that I lost 3 years ago) I was laying in my bikini in the grass and some boys called me a whale. That moment still haunts me and impacts how I see myself.
I texted my partner earlier today that I am feeling a lot of fear of failing at this attempt to build more muscle. He sent me words I am going to share with all of you:
You can't fail if you don't try. You also can't succeed if you don't try. You're trying and learning from it all so remember that, my love, and that in itself is incredible.
So my NSV is trying. Trying to be my best self and cultivating the belief in my self! Thank you all for being here.36 -

Oh, friend, I'm so sorry they were cruel. One thing that helped me with something similar was that I wrote what was said at the top of a page, and then I wrote my very angry response underneath it. I wrote all my feelings, all my anger, every impact it had on me. My response took up pages.
Then I got a big metal mixing bowl, I tore the pages in half, set them in the bowl, and lit those suckers on fire. Those words that were said to me cannot hurt me anymore. I'm not bound by them and I'm not defined by them. In fact, I'm free of those hurtful words - I'm free to be the person I am.
Maybe doing something similar would help you?
And ps - give that partner of yours a gold star. Those are wise words and they meant every word of it.12 -
MY workout partner came over and the first thing she said was "You look skinny today " I had on new leggings in a smaller size- they actually fit.17

I got up the nerve to try jumping on the boxes at the gym. As much weight lifting as I've done, I've still been afraid to try any of the agility type exercises for fear I'd fall or hurt myself. But I did it and I was able to jump up with both feet. Sure it was the shortest box, but I jumped and didn't die or end up in the ER. Yay!!25

I have finally graduated to "Overweight BMI" I haven't been this size since 1994 (109 lbs lost). 28 years... I have been obese or morbidly obese! But I think the best NSV is this conversation last night between me and the hubby:
Me: I still have maybe 30 lbs more to go. I never even thought I would get this far!
Him: Well, you can do it because you got all Conan about weight loss (in Arnie's voice) "If it bleeds, you can kill it."
We have been married for 27 years, and I know when he gets out the Conan voice and that particular phrase, that "the thing" is incredibly hard. And what makes it so hard is the fact that it takes a significant amount of time, in addition to not quitting, in addition to being constant and disciplined about it.28 -
Another female coworker mentioned how thin I'm getting. I really liked how she focused in on the fitness aspect, asking me what my fitness goals were. Our company has an employee fitness incentive, which I take advantage of, and she pointed out that "this" is what it's made for. I feel the need to point out this conversation happened while we each ate a miniature bundt cake.
So in short, my NSV is: a compliment focused on fitness over thinness, women supporting women, and delicious bundt cakes.34 -
I had to send a copy of my driver's license to my corporate office the other day. That picture was taken about a year before I started to lose weight. I wasn't quite to my heaviest yet but wasn't too far off. It made me really appreciate how much thinner my face looks now!15

I got a haircut last night and the stylist asked "are you still losing weight?" After that affirmation, she could have butchered my hair and I still would have given her a tip! People notice, but it's good to hear someone tell you once and a while.17

I stopped myself from binge eating last night.
I waited far too long to eat dinner, I was far too hungry, and after dinner I ate things above my allotted calories:
Two elite sweets protein donuts (480kcals) a quest bar (190kcals) and a giant plate of reddi whip with cinnamon sprinkled on top (250+kcal estimate).
I stepped away. Told myself no. Tried to get my mind off it. For the next couple of hours all I really wanted was a cheese quesadilla, but I did not give in to the demons. Eventually I went to bed.
The scale did not go up this morning. So.... I did it. I stopped myself before damage occurred. I have not been in that state for many months.27 -
Today MFP says "200 day streak". I think that is the longest I've ever stuck it out. My mindset is so much different this time.

My underwear was a bit loose but as a yo-yo dieter I've been really slow about buying a lot of new clothes. I get up before the sun comes up and put on underwear then yoga pants. After my gym session, I needed to be somewhere else. I changed into a skirt and as I'm walking I think these undies are quite loose. Crossing the street they fall to the ground!😆
NSV: My original undies are so loose, they can no longer be worn! I still giggle when I think about it.24 -

Of all the NSV's and SV's and other things I see on these message boards, loose undies will always be, by far, the funniest and most surprising effect of weight loss. Whenever someone posts a loose undies NSV, I lose it 🤣🤣🤣 Perhaps its the cartoonish images I have, or the vulnerability we share here, or that it's one of those things that gets overlooked all the time till it phwomps us in the face like a kickball...I will never find it not funny!!
Oh, and my NSV is that I reached my goal of running twice this past week! The second run was mentally rough and very unpretty on paper. But I did it! I reached my goal!

Played in the snow today and my snow pants were comically large. They were always a little big, but this was just hilarious. My kid said, "We can wear those at the same time!".

Because I am pre-diabetic, I am seriously restricting candies and desserts. Since the middle of December (when I got this diagnosis) I've had 2 1-inch pieces of pie, 1 1-inch piece of cheesecake, and a sliver of carrot cake. I am proud that I've been able to taste these treats without going overboard.

I was out most of the day yesterday and was ravenously hungry all day.
I ate a load of crap but stayed within my calories.

My doctor didn't believe me when I told him my weight. He thought I was 30 pounds lighter and looked over at the scale as if I would lie about weighing more14

I'm the same way. So are my boys. We are solid. (What I say.) We all weigh more than what we look. They were competitive swimmers. People are always shocked when I tell them my weight. They seem to think I'm @ least 20-30 lbs lighter. When I've been thin or heavy.4 -
I keep falling off the wagon, but because I prepped food (salads and overnight oatmeal) it's easier to get back on than to keep going the wrong way.11

I agree with that and what I do is "KISS". On work days I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch. And my day off I usually eat the same thing for my brunch.6
