Hi, I’m Kathy.
57, F, 5’8”
6th round! Rebooting my lifestyle after several false starts. I need accountability to make sure it gets done.
Return to MFP SW (Dec 2021): 267
HSW: 267
CW: 247.6
UGW for now: 200, then reevaluate
Goal for this round: less than I started with
2022 goals: move more (okay, move some), eat mindfully
Day/Weight/Comment
3/8 247.6 Hi new round! Bouncing around this new low for a couple of days, I guess. Worked out yesterday – strength and cardio. I’m still working on figuring out what percentage of my exercise calories to eat back. My son is home for spring break so he came to the gym with me, which was great fun. No idea what’s for dinner tonight, so I guess I need to think about that sometime soon.
3/9 248.0 Welp. I think this is primarily water, when thinking about what I’ve been taking in and what I’ve been…expelling. I guess it’s no surprise given the workout increase. Trusting the process has worked so far, so I’ll continue that plan. Meals for today are planned and logged.
3/10 247.6 Still bouncing. Good news is that my knee is so much better after 5 weeks of PT. Feeling a little frustrated at the scale’s lack of movement but doing my best to keep on track. I can see and feel a difference, though, so that’s keeping me going.
3/11 246.6 It’s fascinating how my mind and body know when I need a little whoosh of encouragement! This came at a great time. Going out for hubby’s birthday dinner tonight and it will be a bit of a challenge, but I’ll do my best!
3/12 DNW
3/13 247.2
3/14 247.2 Friday night was as challenging as expected but I think another day or two of water and being back on the program will take care of it. Food for today is planned and logged and I’ll get in a workout this evening to take advantage of daylight savings time.
3/15 246.2 I guess I’ve left Friday night’s dinner behind me, which is great. It’s a beautiful day here so I’m going to try to get outside and take advantage of it. Everything planned for today. Have a good one, everybody!
3/16 246.0 Glad I got a walk outside yesterday because the weather is not so good today. @musicsax, thanks for your story about the chocolate. Your victory has given me inspiration – the chocolate in this house has gotten WAY too loud lately. Meals are planned and logged for today.

3/08 - 178
I went a little crazy last night—cheese & triscuits, cinnamon toast. What? Oh, well, all in all I’m doing better with the snacks, so I won’t beat myself silly over this. Total calories were right around maintenance, so not too bad. But why, I ask myself, why?
3/09 - 178.4
I take it back. I’m not doing better with snacks, at least not last night. I think I’m going to take a close look at what I ate earlier on days I’ve gone crazy at night. I do know that carb-heavy dinners make me want more carbs later. Maybe there’s a really clear pattern I can make myself aware of. But, to paraphrase Scarlet, today’s another day, and I started with a healthy egg, cheese, & Canadian bacon on whole grain muffin breakfast. Much better than that arches place makes!
3/10 - 178
Still crazy after all these pounds, but drifting toward better.
3/11 - 179.6
Ok, time lag from 2&3 days ago. I was on track yesterday. If I stick to the plan, it will self correct. I have a low-cal, high-protein day planned. All good. Happy Friday!
3/12 - 181
What??? Whatever. Some of it must be H2O. I did have popcorn last night, but not THAT much! Very weird, very discouraging. Harumph. No hugs needed—I’m not upset, just bewildered. Anyway, the next 8 weeks will be very physical. I have Rory signed up for 6 classes (two levels of competition obedience, rally, scent work, agility, and run through for upcoming obedience trial, and I plan to get back to tracking training two days a week (lots of walking) plus regular long walks. And gardening season is coming right up. That should help!
3/13 - 179.6
Not great, but the right direction at least. Yesterday was very cold & windy, but I got out for a short walk. I also finished this commissioned watercolor (below)—so nice to be painting again! It’s been two years. 😕 It’s soup day (still on my soup-a-week routine, which is fun!). Today is Southwest corn and sweet potato, from the Moosewood low-fat cookbook. I’m adding chicken to up the protein. Looking forward to it.
3/14 - 179.2
💗 Thirty years? Thirty years! It’s our anniversary! We’ve had some adventures! I feel very lucky to have found a guy who supports whatever I want to do, from houses full of dogs and cats to writing and painting to building gardens and repainting the walls. I’ll try not to go too crazy, but do plan to enjoy a nice celebratory dinner!
3/15 - 179.2
Oh, good! I did have a nice Italian anniversary dinner—spinach lasagna and a house salad from one of our fav restaurants. DH and I split a piece of really luscious cheese cake. But my total calories for the day weren’t bad. Ok, off to doggy school! Maybe I can still break almost even this round.
3/16 - 179
I can’t believe this round is almost finished. Time—whoosh! It’s a lovely day so I’m off for a walk in the park and then Rory’s first agility class. He’s gonna love it! Then a little garden cleanup this afternoon. I don’t pick up leaves and old stems until we have +50F for at least a week, but I can prune back some vines and pull of the annual climbers, and tomorrow I’ll plant my sweet peas. I know it’s spring—the neighbor is mowing his lawn.

After years of eating chicken breast I was reluctant to get thighs but they ARE so much more satisfying - tasty and filling! I’m so thankful for low carb/higher fat! And I always eat the chicken skin.

No change from yesterday. I feel puffy today though. And sore from weight training yesterday. But wishing for a good round for everyone!
03/09: 185 lbs (+0.6)
Had a much needed rest day yesterday, only a morning walk and some stretching. I usually get a slight bump anytime I do that. Not concerned in the slightest!
03/10: 185.4 lbs (+0.4)
Haven't been sleeping well. Waking up 4-5 hours before the alarm. Otherwise I'm sticking to my plans.
03/11: 185.4 lbs (-0.0)
Still feeling bloated. Managed to get back to sleep quicker than the last couple days after waking up at 2am for no reason. Feel more rested today so plan to be more active.
03/12: 182.2 lbs (-3.2)
I weighed twice to be sure. Drank a lot of water yesterday, peed a lot too. And slept better. Think the bloat is the answer. Anyway, new low!
03/13: 182.4 lbs (+0.2)
Expected a bigger rebound after yesterday so this is good! Slept better last night and feeling less stressed, more confident.
Taking a drive in the mountains today with a friend who's not very mobile. Walk this morning and hoping to get some steps in throughout the day.
03/14: 185.4 lbs (+3.0)
I realize one of the reasons I don't hang out with that friend very often is I make terrible choices. He always wants to eat at places that don't have healthy choices. I'm taking total responsibility for the slip, but I have to remember that's a problem in the future. Too much salt and alcohol, not enough movement. It will come back down.
03/15: 185 lbs (-0.4)
Easing back down. Hopefully gets back down before the end of the round. Not too worried about it as long as I keep doing the right things.
03/16: 184.8 lbs (-0.2)

Day/Weight/Comment
03/07 …..198.0….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
03/08 …..197.8 ….. (Trend weight 196.9) I don’t think I’m eating enough or well enough at dinner. My snacks are reasonable (in most cases) but too many. Also, I’ve been staying up a bit later for time to myself (read, catch up on TV etc) so more time for snacks. I will have to plan better.
03/09 …..197.8 ….. [/color=[black] Trend weight 197.0) I made dinner for DD, DGS and a family friend. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, asparagus and dinner rolls. My daughter followed it up by bringing in ice cream and carmel sauce. I kept my quantities good. I got in a few extra steps in general.
03/10 …..198.0 ….. (Trend weight 197.1) No TMI and I know that would help the scale. A good day overall yesterday but very little calorie burn due to having company most of the day. Lots of time at the kitchen table.
03/11 …..198.0 ….. (Trend weight 197.2) A much better well-planned day yesterday dietary-wise. Low level movement however. Sleep and bathroom duty both slightly better. No change on scale but it should be coming.
03/12 …..199.2 ….. (Trend weight 197.4) Ut oh. Looks like I’m going to get pretty hungry today because I will NOT go back to 200. Very odd though. Yesterday was another pretty good eating day honestly. I think this very low level movement is really hurting my efforts.
03/13 …..198.6 ….. (Trend weight 197.5) I had a super stressful day yesterday and today will not likely be much better. No sleep last night plus the loss of an hour due to daylight savings time. However, I had a good past few days and I knew it would catch up to the scale at some point. I appreciate the drop. It’s encouraging.
03/14 …..198.2 ….. (Trend weight 197.6) I don’t want to seem ungrateful. A drop on the scale is always welcomed and nice. But I am feeling like I’m wallowing around in the same mud hole lately. I’ve got to break this 198 thing and get going! I’ll be so happy this coming summer that I did! Come on Donna. You can do this!
03/15 …..199.0 ….. (Trend weight 197.7) A light breakfast, no lunch, out to dinner with son & his friend. Had a brisket sandwich, no sides, with water. 1 pc sugarfree candy last night. A gain! What has this yo-yo-ing done to my metabolism? Yikes….. Back to square one.
03/16 …..199.8 ….. (Trend weight 197.9) Well, I just can’t get much closer to 200 than this. Chinese yesterday. I have leftovers for today. Every other bite in my mouth will have to be carefully thought out.
03/17 …..xxxxx ….. (Trend weight xxxxx)

3/8 ~ 196.6 - 15,200 and 104. Walked home from work today due to SO misplacing his keys, bad for him good for me! Made a spaghetti squash pizza for dinner was really good a bit time consuming but I liked it.
3/9 ~ 196.5 - 12,600 and 86 min, hit calories and fats. Still working on good balance of macros. Changed my second goal to 20 lb loss instead of 30 to keep me better in the game. Beautiful morning here wish I was outside enjoying it and not in this dark cupboard of an office. Have a great day all!
3/10 ~ 196.4 - 11,500 and 74 min. Maxed out on calories close on fat. SO is back home.
3/11 ~ 195.4 - Well that's a surprize!! 12,000 and 70. Low key day with fish tacos for dinner.
Grandson again tomorrow, sadly is suppose to rain. Happy Friday!!
3/12 ~ 194.7 - 15,500 and 78. Well think the added fats might be helping. Busy day with grandson today but not great weather.
3/13 ~ 194.5 Burned a few calories collecting pine cones and racing around an amazing playground we found. 14,000 and 72. Hope to get out for a nice long walk but the weather isn’t cooperating for SO to join. He figures he melts I guess. Lol.
3/14 ~ 194.2 - 17,300 and 118. Got a good walk in and went for dinner with MIL salad with Cajun chicken and shared calamari was expecting a gain, don't think I have figured out my calories yet. Worried I'm eating too low and also worried at the same time I'll get too high.
3/15 ~ 193.3 - Hmmm should I be worried? Guessing maybe the extra fats are helping? I am not any more hungry or craving? Hitting 1400 at least been out for dinner but also more active. 11,200 and 74.
3/16 ~ 192.8 - I don't know guess I will add another snack? Maybe its water weight and getting rid of bloat or the increase of my fat intake. Walked home from work 16,300 and 102.

First, I apologize for my little “come apart” the other day. I’m good and can certainly continue posting the beginning of the new rounds - just no pictures. Second, I’m not a computer/tech guru but when I only have a problem on one website, I think the problem is with that website and I shouldn’t have to delete everything to fix it.
I love this group and will continue for as long as I can. Thank you to those who talked me off the cliff and volunteered to take over. ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘9 -

3/11 121.5 Ham and beans and cornbread. Sadly I expected this. I didn’t eat much but haven’t made them in at least 2.5 years and they were so good. I ate mostly ham. To whoever mentioned Leslie Sansone 5K with a Twist - thank you! I did a mile yesterday and will continue to work on this. After doing pretty much nothing for 2 years, this is a beginning!
3/12 121.0 Went shipping at Sam’s. Lots of steps plus walked in place watching TV.
3/13 120.5 This has been a long cold winter in Las Vegas.. I’m so ready for it to be over! I continue my indoor walking program and feel good. I seem to be having trouble accessing the community this morning. Why can I access everything else on the internet except this community?
Well I finally got on and was reading all messages. When I got to coblujay and the picture of her sweet Bubba, I got some screen about having encountered a problem and couldn’t get back to the community board!
3/14 120.0 I finally got to post yesterday. YAY! My carbs have been much higher the last week due to added fiber trying to get all “systems go.”
3/15 121.5 Had very late dinner and a huge glass of wine, not anywhere near enough water. Went to bed late and awake before 4AM. UGH
3/16 119.0 I didn’t feel well yesterday but I drank plenty of water - I didn’t even drink all of the coffee-a true indication that I didn’t feel well. I’m happy to report that I feel better today! 😁8 -

3/8: 138.4 - Whoosh! Normal workout and eating yesterday, although I really wasn’t that hungry and consequently didn’t eat my first meal until around 2pm. Good sleep as well.
3/9: 138.4 - I’m a few pounds away from goal weight, so I finally went out and bought a couple of new pairs of jeans yesterday since even the smallest pants in my closet were too loose. I have pretty much been living in workout leggings for the last 6 months. It’s a much more enjoyable experience shopping when your body looks better in clothes. Normal workout and eating yesterday. So-so sleep.
3/10: 138.2 - Got my workout in despite a bit of a headache. Ate okay, but the majority of calories were dinner/dessert since I wasn’t feeling great until about 2pm. Woke up way too early this morning.
3/11: 139.3 - Normal workouts. However, a night of wine, chocolate, cheese and nuts (and carbs) with friends might have temporarily done me in. It was wonderful to see everyone though.
3/12: 139.1 - Instead of my normal workout, I did a 6 mile walk. Ate all of my exercise calories back.
3/13: 138.7 - Normal workouts and eating.
3/14: 138.2 - Had a little late evening mini-binge, but still within calories. Normal workouts and sleep.
3/15: 138.2 - Ate every single one of my exercise calories back. Normal workout and sleep.
3/16: 137.6 - A little surprised at the drop since I have been eating at the high end of my calorie range (including eating back most exercise calories) as well as some snacking later in the evening. Everything else has been normal in terms of workouts, sleep and food that I am eating.

3/8-171-Bloated as all get out. Yesterday was a long busy day....board meeting then errands. All of this makes me eat garbage. Put all groceries away then sat down to type out meeting minutes while all was still fresh. Then pulled out treasurer bag for another group and got the reports for that meeting on Thursday. I am at the point where I cannot do everything and just need to say NO. I have not been exercising and have not ridden the fat horse in 2 days. Today is a new day and a new round and it starts NOW. I sure am glad you are all here!☕️
3/9-169-Off to a good start. Finished quilting the old fashioned quilt and just need to get the binding on it. Short horse ride. Little baking today for our quilting bake sale tomorrow. Should get a walk in later this afternoon.
3/10-168-Working half day, will walk this morning first. Light, but sufficient eating yesterday.
3/11-DNW- Brought baked goods to quilting and sampled them as I packed them up. Walked 2 miles before work. Work again today and it’s all day on my feet at the quilt shop, so I will be tired when I get home. Dinner will be easy.
3/12-167-168-167-I’m on a roll and now have a problem: tonight is a crab feed with all the bread I would never want....cold French bread..... I just need to tell myself all day that it is not worth it. Walked 2 miles working in the quilt shop and will do it again today. The horse is loving his break I am giving him.....
3/14-171-This is all just bloat from the weekend. I am thrilled that the days will be longer; I love getting to walk after dinner. Horse lesson this morning, more work on the flower beds (I’m getting to plant my seedlings!) and starting a quilt. Oh, and amongst all of that, I told DH I would get our taxes ready.🙄 Happy Monday-we’ve got 3 days left in this round!!!
3/16-DNW-DH walked in with dinner two nights ago: corned beef and cabbage and potatoes. We ate that for two days and then last night I had a big steak, just a lot of heavy food. Need to get the tax info rounded up.8 -

Day/Weight/Comment
3/8 174.4 This round, I really want to move more. Nothing fancy, just *something* on a daily basis. The weather is lovely and maybe I'll start with a walk to the mailbox.
3/9 174.4 Did not do any kind of exercise yesterday. Will try today.
3/10 174.4 Still holding steady. Still haven't fit in any exercise.
3/11 174.4 Okay...
3/12 174.4 My scale isn't broken—this is getting ridiculous. Walked around a bit at the farmers market, maybe that will make the scale budge?
3/13 174.4 Sigh...a little discouraging BUT I know I'm staying on track, so eventually maybe I'm in for a lower number!
3/14 173.0 Yay! Finally!!! After EIGHT days in a row at 174.4, I'm thrilled to see this. Even if it bounces up tomorrow, this tells me I'm trending downward.
3/15 174.0 Ha, it's okay. I know it'll settle out lower soon!
3/16 173.2 Last night was a fast food dinner, which is always weirdly great for me with respect to being accountable since the calories are so standardized: I know exactly what I'm getting in that cheeseburger (plus, I removed the bun—saved a few extra calories there!). Hoping to end this round with a one-pound loss.

up a little in weight this morning probably due to the larger dinner i ate last night. My husband cooked last night! Only happends once in a while so i took advantage and ate my fair share. Didn't get a workout in from eating too much and feeling sluggish but i did manage to clean/pick up the house. Tonight i will be packing for a trip but I am hoping to get a small workout in!

3/16-164.6 Haven't weighed in a while, kept forgetting in the morning. I was very surprised this morning especially because it's shark week! I haven't been counting my calories but really watching the amounts i am eating but also allowing myself i treat once in a while. I indulged in far too many sweets and beverages over the weekend but it looks like it didn't hurt me. I haven't worked out since last week but planning on getting a workout this evening.

The drop will come sooner or later, my mission is to maintain the course. I have a physical on March 28th and my goal is to be under 360 by that appointment. Not impossible for sure. I know what to do. Have a great weekend and stay safe!
3/13 370.4 – 7815 steps.
3/14 369.0 – 6616 steps. Finally! Saturday was an awesome day! I went to DR for a bone scan for osteoporosis and I had to weigh because there is a 400-pound weight maximum for the machine and even though I had on clothes and had eaten and water I still weighed in at 369.8 on their scale which my PCP will get. So, I was happy about that especially since scale was the same all week.
3/15 369.0 – 3545 steps. Rest day yesterday. At the office today. Great time at office. Quiet and easy going.
3/16 367.0 – 9076 steps.

Net change 2022 = SW 380.0 EW 371.6 (-8.4) Overall goal: 12-18 lbs.In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.11 -
