Down 35+ kg's in 7 months

Started at 127 --> 91,6 as of today. My goal is 86. Followed the suggested calory per day from MFP throughout, although with some rules:
- Calories burned are logged manually, and I always underestimate them. For example, if my Garmin watch tell me that I burned 200 calories from a stroll, I log 170-180.
- I make a basic salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber) that I have with my dinner every day. And I don't count the calories. I noticed early on that I tended to skip salad in order to have a little bit more of the good stuff.
- I walk every day. I have two dogs and a baby, so this part was really easy to uphold.

Thank you. I see old photos of myself and I don't recognise that person. I knew I was overweight, but I was pretty comfortable with that. I was even pretty confident back then, perhaps that was my problem. But I am happy with the change, it was really necessary and long overdue.7 -

Thank you! I'm pretty confident I'll reach my goal in 2-3 months time. But I imagine that I will have to keep using MFP for a long time after that as well, in order to stabilize my weight and learn how to live my life without putting on weight again. Not worried though, this method has really worked for me.6 -

Thank you! I'm pretty confident I'll reach my goal in 2-3 months time. But I imagine that I will have to keep using MFP for a long time after that as well, in order to stabilize my weight and learn how to live my life without putting on weight again. Not worried though, this method has really worked for me.

My kids are certainly a big reason for losing the weight, for sure. I was also noticing some ominous signs. Elevated HbA1c values, hypertension, big gut --> metabolic syndrome. Scary stuff. Also started to have trouble being active. Got plantar fasciitis from jogging, had to stop for almost 6 months. So a myriad of different motivations played a role here.1 -

0.5 kg per week. My progression has been faster, around 1,2 kg per week. I do not know why, as I have followed MFP faithfully the entire time. I end up at 0 every day. I haven't had any macro goals up until now. Only calories. But, yeah, I finally reached my target weight (85,6 kg, approximately 187 lb) yesterday. So now I have to rethink what I am doing. Want to get stronger, so I have bought kettlebells and plan to exercise with them 2-3 times a week. I will continue with walking/jogging as well, but not to the same degree as before. As for macro goals, got a tip from my cousin that I should shoot for 40/30/30 (carbs/fat/protein). My diet has been more like 60/25/15, so I have to make some significant changes. Eggs for breakfast, chicken breast, less oatmeal etc.0 -

Update: So a year has gone. I reached my target weight (86 kg) in april last year. Was incredibly happy, not at least when I saw how many calories I could eat when switching from weight loss to maintenance. I then started to eat a bit more, and I started to exercise more. I gained a little bit during the summer, but I also noticed my fitness level improved significantly. I then started to eat a bit more, being careful with my protein intake, as well as exercising more, preferably jogging. I also started to ease off MFP, "I don't really need to log calories anymore". Lo and behold, I started to gain weight. Some of it was muscles, no doubt, but I also gained some fat. I started to notice my pants and shirts becoming a bit tighter. I started to tell myself "Ok, I will never be above 90 kg again". A couple of months later, I told myself "I will never be above 95 kg again". A couple of months later, in November, I had to rethink what I was doing. Sure, I managed, for the first time, to run 5 km under 25 minutes. A personal best. But I had gained 10 kg's in 8 months, and I was on the fast track to tell myself "Never above 100 kg". So I had to reset. Get back to 85-86 kg, and then try again.
So that's what I've done since January. Same formula as before. Trying to eat sensibly, logging calories with MFP, as well as walking and running in order to be able to eat a decent dinner. I've also started to skip breakfast, something I never thought would work for me but it has, especially if I'm busy and I'm not able to exercise. So yeah, currently 86.5 kg. Pretty happy with it. Decided to continue down to 82-83 kg. After that, I have to try again to learn how to maintain my weight. Sure, I'm pretty confident I will always be able to loose weight using this method if I have to, but I hope I don't have to do it again for some time. Would be a drag if I have to diet every 6-8 months in order to maintain my target weight for the rest of my life.
Maybe not a success story per se, at least not in the traditional sense. But I want to be honest. Loosing the weight is just the start, after that you have to learn how to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle.8 -
Congrats - you made great strides and perhaps part of the lesson/challenge is once at maintenance to keep an eye on things and if they start to move in an undesired direction to assess early on to make small changes.0
