200lbs to lose and looking for support/friends

A little about my current journey. Forgive the ADHD storytelling!

I have been on and off MFP for a while, and I've battled with my weight for over 20 years, but 2020 was a turning point. All the stress and weight gain during the pandemic caused me to start blood pressure medication. Then we lost my grandmother quickly and unexpectedly last January 2021 after seeking explanations for unexplained changes in health behaviors. I also ended up in a multiple car accident in July 2021. And being offered a new job the day after the accident I didn't have time to fully recover before starting.

I've also had undiagnosed endometriosis for about 20 years, which a whole other conversation, but I digress. I had a surgery consult in December with a specialist who approved my surgery pending a 10% weight reduction.

Since leaving my job to focus on recovery from the accident, and finishing my degree in December (because I also was in college during the pandemic 🤯), I started making small tweaks this year. I really hit the ground running on February 23rd with daily logging since March 5th. I didn't want to weigh myself for the fear of getting the dreaded "error/E" message again and only had my weight from my last doctor's appointment on January 25th. But I randomly stepped on the scale yesterday to be peasantly surprised by a 16.9lbs weight loss!

So yeah, with all that I am hoping to rebuild my weight-loss community with supportive motivational friends that I also want to encourage! I am very excited to have the time and resources to make this successful, as well as the motivation of FINALLY having endometriosis surgery.

Hi! I’m Emily and I have 125-150 to lose. I’ve already lost 40.

Our stories are insanely similar—college during Covid, multiple vehicle accident in 21, and loss of my grandfather (like a father) in 20.

It’s been hard. I’ve dieted for 20 years just like you. Started at 12 with my mother. I battled eating disorders, pcos, infertility, and a slew of other health issues.

I just got the bariatric sleeve and I’m taking my life back! And definitely looking for friends along this journey.

Hi. I'm jen. Add me if u would like. I try to support as much as I can. I've been off and on mfp for several years. Precovid I had lost 85 pounds but never hit the big 100 goal I had wanted. Then these last few couple of years just threw me into a tailspin and I gained about 25 pounds back. Its taken a while to get my head back in the game and I still struggle. Hypothyroid and pcos plus my age are all factors in my struggle. Best of luck to u and you can do this!

Greetings friend and fellow ADHDer! I'm on a big weight loss journey, too. When I started reading your post, I almost thought it was my own! I need to lose in the neighborhood of 170 pounds, although really I'd be happy to be around 200 pounds. My knees and shins are not having a good time anymore and it's starting to limit me. I also have PCOS which complicates things, but I got a new doctor who put me on metformin a few months ago and it's definitely been easier to lose weight (down almost 25 pounds). We can definitely do this! And I think your surgery will be the perfect motivation to reach your 10% goal.

Need motivation!! Why is it so hard to add friends on this app?
Any(weigh)--- I am large and in charge. I have been working with a calorie deficiet diet and I don't see much change. I am super picky. I only like a few fruits and veggies. i.e. tomatoes, potatoes, corn and celery, green beans and lettuce. I don't like any of the super foods for weight loss that "make you feel full or do all that magical stuff". Why is it so difficult to find food that I like that isn't a carb. GIVE ME PASTA AND BREADDDDDD!!!

    UGH> Just venting I guess.

I am currently eating foods that are low in carbs-high protein-low fat...

This is what I call "food you eat when you aren't planning on feeling full, just dull".

Oh and why does everything have poly and monosaturated fats...

    PLUUULEASE!

Wow, your story impacted me enough to comment….my first. Congrats on the 17 pound weight loss! I’m sure that wasn’t easy given your circumstances. That puts into perspective how hard you’ve worked and are working!

I’m 47 and at 240 pounds and 6’ tall. I think my road is much easier than many people I have researched on here. My problem? I’m an expat that lives in Latin America and only comes back to the states a couple of times per year. I retired early and damn…..everyday is happy hour or some sort of party! I exercise and do the right things physically, it’s just I’m always sticking yummy food and beverages in my mouth. I’ll accept any friend requests to hold my *kitten* accountable and if anyone is thinking of Latin America travel or residence, I’ll help you.

Cheers! Wait, I mean, raise your glass of….water

You are amazing! Fellow ADHD'r here with loads of anxiety and depression that have piled up since COVID. I know that life has been a tailspin for a lot of people but I have to say, you are amazing! And, you are here. I'm super proud of what you have accomplished despite everything you have been through. You have the support and care here and know that your Grandma is proud of you too. I see you and if you would like, I would be happy to help walk with you during your journey!

    Hello there
I hope you are healthy and well. I have ADHD as well, and believe it or not, my therapist think it had something to do with me weight gain. Anyway, I am looking for accountability buddy so we could keep each other in check. I have 170 lbs to lose. I workout three times a week, and eating less. If anyone wants to be friends we could exchange emails, or Whatsapp. We could even make a group and add more people 🙂

Congrats on your weight loss. I have just started myself and I'm finding week 3 to be a challenge in itself. I'm looking forward to hearing about your successes.
