I seem to be getting enough protein and 21g of fiber, so that's good. Then I'm trying to eat more fuits and veggies, but that's not tracked for some reason. I'm at about fifteen servings a week, near as I can tell. I ought to add some broccoli to my routine. I wish it came in little cups like my yogurt!
There is no straightforward answer to this. Generally, 30% of your daily calorie intake is good. However, if you are exercising a lot or doing a lot of resistance work, you might want to bump it up. However, you might also see recommendations of .8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. It totally depends on your goals.
Most would say getting more fruits and vegetables into your diet is never a bad thing.
I bet you can find broccoli in small cups. Looks in the food for kids sections of stores. You could portion it out into cups yourself as well and it will likely be much cheaper.

Beth,
Tim has backed away as the lying about cancer and then continued lying about other things just got to be too much, he and I are still in contact and he is willing to be a sounding board for me - I have gotten so I don't believe much that comes out of DB mouth. DB has decided to quit all medical help and will not refill this blood thinner meds, but astoundingly seems to be doing better. I was digging a hole in their back yard the other day with a pick axe (horrible dirt) and he took over from me. Which I appreciated, but if you can swing a pick axe and dig a 4 foot hole you are not suffering too much.

Michele:Terri – I would THINK that being a city now means that the city takes care of the roads, you have city water, sewer etc. We live right outside the city limits, in addition to lower taxes (which is real good), we are responsible for snow removal, maintenance, etc
Local government already take care of water, sewers, waste collection, roads, health, education, etc.0 -
Not much to add ladies
Tracy ,Miles and I went shopping this morning and i got gas for the car and brought them home..
Then came home.. Alfie was happy to see me..2 -
Worked today then dropped off some containers for the lady who runs the Mon. senior bowling.
M - “Does he have to help with the meat? Does he like meat? Does he like helping in the kitchen? “ Last time I was there he liked meat and I think he probably does now. Helping in the kitchen? I would think so. Last night I thought of pulled pork. I’m not crazy about it, but I can always have a sandwich. Oh, I know that things aren’t going to be “perfect”. But that’s what makes it extra special. I make pierogies, but Denise isn’t a cook so probably doesn’t have things to shape them. I don’t know what kind of stand mixer she has (I think it’s Hamilton Beach) otherwise I could take my pasta maker attachment with me. I don’t know if mine will fit hers. She probably doesn’t even have a potato masher so I would have to bring mine up. I’ll have to bring up a pan to make the meatloaf in and a jar to put the grease into
M – speaking of Chuck E Cheese: one Mother’s Day Vince asked the kids where they should take me for dinner. They said “Chuck E Cheese” “Do you think mom would like Chuck E. Cheese?” “oh yea” So guess where my Mother’s Day dinner was?????
Barbara – when I see the dermatologist for my annual checkup, I always tell him “I keep Coppertone in business”. No matter what I say or do, Vince doesn’t wear sunscreen when he’s outside. I know a while ago M mentioned that Neutrogena makes a sunscreen that isn’t greasy. Do you think he would even TRY it?

It’s cloudy and starting to rain so I’ll probably bake the apple pie for tomorrow and then wash the inside of the windows
Lisa – LOVED your mom’s reason for outliving the undertaker!
Tracey – awwwwwww

If I were you I would leave all that cooking equipment at home. You're not going there to impress the family with your cooking skills, you're going to get to know you're grandson.
Me ... I'd go with pizza, hamburgers and eating out or ordering in for the 3 nights.
Keep it simple. 😀7 -
Thanks Tina! I think I'm on a good path for now!

Tina – thanks for your encouraging words regarding PJ. I do believe there are things that he can do. May not be perfect, but that’s OK. I have to remember to take some sprinkles with me for him to decorate “his” cookies. I want to try using a zip-top plastic bag, put water in it, and shake it real hard to see if any of the water comes out. If nothing, then we can use that for the Shake & Bake. He can shake and shake and there won’t be a mess. Let’s hope. An indoor water park! Sounds wonderful.
Went to ceramics and picked up Smurf. I’ll post a pic tomorrow. We realized that we won’t be back for 3 weeks!
Today was rainy so washed all the windows upstairs. All 24 of them (yes, I counted). I’ll do the downstairs another day and probably the garage at that time. I’ll “start to put up the pictures in the bathroom downstairs” since I have the step stool already down there. I know once I start, I won’t do it right and Vince will then want to do it. Hey, anything to get it done!
Anne – I used to go to the infant section of the food store to get dishes of vegetables for me to have while traveling since they don’t need refrigeration
Ran Buzz (robotic vacuum), cleaned the stove and front of the microwave, now want to use the Swiffer on the kitchen floor

Regarding going to see PJ, I'm already hearing "this trip is getting to be expensive" <sigh> I don't think we have a choice.

Michele - have you thought about asking Denise what he would like and what she has to cook with?
When we moved to Alberta we sold most everything and started over. When my MIL came for a visit she wanted to bake. Her and I just had a shopping day and bought some things she needed that I hadn’t replaced yet. Some things she just made do with. I sure Denise has a jar you could put grease in and perogies can be shaped by hand can’t they?
Kim - I hope you are successful. Your mom deserves a break.
I don’t understand how anyone could live like your brother has.
Had a productive day, planted a few plants and cleaned up the front flower bed. I also replaced the canopy on the gazebo and put out summer decorations.
I overdid it a bit and I’m feeling it tonight, but I’m glad to have done it.
Kaitlyn was feeling some better today, they went for ice cream and then spent the day on the couch. I haven’t talked to her in a few hours. I didn’t want to disturb her if she was sleeping. I’m sure she’ll relax more when she has the scheduled ultrasound on Thursday.

The family are currently up in the air and flying over Northern Italy. I've installed a flight tracker, so I can see them in real time.
Of course, I woke up at 3 am, when they did, and didn't get back to sleep at all. I dozed under my mask for half an hour once they were in the air. They are now about half way there.
The kids all have ipads and loads of films, games etc downloaded, so I hope it all goes smoothly. I think Edie will, be having a Harry Potter fest. We bought Max a Kindle for his birthday.
I will doze off this afternoon and then go for my massage. Can't wait. Walking home yesterday was really, really uncomfortable, but I'm not too bad this morning.
Sending best wishes for Kaitlyn, Tracey.

The best sleep position for minimizing aches and pains
Here's how to train yourself to lie down correctly—and why it can help.

I start by sleeping almost on my stomach, transition through sleeping on my side, and at some point in the night, I end up sleeping on my back, often with my arms above my head. But I have to have enough sleep time to get to my back. I don't usually get there in a 7-hour night.
I started sleeping with my arms above my head in 2007, right after a bicycle accident that partially dislocated my left shoulder. I discovered that I suddenly had way more flexibility in my shoulder than ever before, and it was most comfortable to place the arm on the pillow above my head.

Good morning and happy Tuesday! It was a great long weekend for me...did some cleaning and relaxing at our cottage. We spent some time with my sister who came home for the long weekend, we actually share our cottage property so we have lots of time together in the summer. I did good eating and logged at least some of my food. Sun is shining although it's cool out. I'm enjoying reading through your posts and getting to know you all.2

Sleep positions- I am a back and left side sleeper. When I get into bed, I automatically lie on my back. This is how I fall asleep. Sometime in that "falling asleep" stage, I roll to my left side and pull all of the blankets around me (like a nest or cocoon). If I wake up at night, I will usually be on my back again. If I am ever on my right side or stomach it is because I am suffering from night sweats. lol I move around a LOT on those nights and am awake a lot, as well.
Michele- Don't sweat the meals. Make easy stuff. IF PJ is not interested in helping in the kitchen, but you would like him in the kitchen with you, put some water and dish soap in the sink and let him play while you cook. Keeps my grandsons busy. Just remember to relax and enjoy your time with your family. Maybe let go of the way you do things and "go with Denise's flow". I think, sometimes, it is hard for our daughters to have us visit. We have been "parenting" and doing domestic things for a lot longer and we sometimes forget that OUR way of doing things might not work for their family. Just breathe and enjoy your time!7
