5/17 233.4 Stressful week continues. Will try to post as best I can the rest of the week. I have meals planned for the entire week and we’ll see what happens. Happy to see a new low today!
5/18 234.6 Unsurprising. Ate dinner late yesterday, didn’t get enough sleep, stress, blah blah blah. In the office today so will get plenty of steps in and headed to the gym after work to let some of the stress out.
5/19 234.4 Didn’t post because I was running an all-day work meeting and it seems like all I did was run!
5/20 234.0 Yesterday was a success but I’d forgotten how exhausting it is to be around people all the time! 😊 I’m back in my home office now and ready for a quiet day. Going to a hockey watch party tonight but I’ll do my best to make good choices.

05/24 …..204.4 ….. (Trend weight 203.2) My son and I were out of town for dental cleanings yesterday. A problem area in the gums is now turning into a root canal. I go back in June. Dinner was out so I am surprised to see a drop on the scale. We’ll see what the next few days hold. Today is a 3 hour appointment for my hair. Something new for me. Low-lights (instead of hi-lights). We are working around the previous cancer treatments and current cancer pill damages. We are also incorporating some gray throughout to match my roots. Getting old is hell LOL. Because of the long time in the car and the dentist chair, I danced to 5 songs last night and I am proud of myself for that. I didn’t do them all at once due to the difficulty breathing with the heart issue, but I scattered them about half hour apart. I also took a small walk (5 minutes) when I got home on my cul-de-sac. It’s the part of my street with the least amount of incline due to breathing. It felt so good. I’m going to try to fit it in several times per day this summer.
05/25 …..203.2 ….. (Trend weight 203.2) Meals were good and spaced out nicely thanks to the long hair appointment. Snacks last night not so good. Ate all my emotions. The handyman who was working on my kitchen called me last night and quit because he got a really good job call he’d applied for months ago. I can’t say I blame him. I get it. In this rural area jobs are tough to find, especially for men. But Now what? Mini-Donuts do not fix the problem folks and I need to remember that! I justified it by drinking them with water instead of milk. Who am I fooling? Just keeping it honest here and I hope someone will get something, maybe some strength or resolve today when they want to grab a no-no. At this point it’s all I can add. The truth of overweight and spiraling out of control at times. I promise, I will inspire again as I gain my own strength and resolve back!
05/26 …..203.0 ….. (Trend weight 203.2) I lost nearly half a pound this round. Not exactly my goal 1.5 pounds but better than a gain. I slept 2 hours last night. Just so worried about when I will find someone to finish this kitchen! I see a lot of coffee in the forecast today. I’m very proud of all of you that have made such strides in your goals this round. Way to go! See you tomorrow in Round 188.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

5/17: 132.5 - I’m right in the middle of my maintenance range for the first time. Normal workout and lots of housework yesterday. Pretty much ate the same things as the day before but drank more water. Good sleep for once.
5/18: 132.3 - Normal workouts, eating and sleep. Need to try and get more protein in my diet though and work on macros.
5/19: 132.5 - Normal workouts. I changed my calorie goals back to maintenance and ate back a large portion of my exercise calories yesterday. Still didn’t hit my protein goals, but percentage-wise was spot on. Good sleep.
5/20: 132.3 - Normal workouts but didn’t have dinner until almost 8 pm. We were enjoying the beautiful warm weather with “Drinks on the Driveway” with our neighbors and had a number stop by that normally don’t. Good to catch up with them.
5/21: 132.3 - Normal workout. Still need to focus on how much sleep I’m getting. Last few nights I’ve stayed up too late.
5/22: 132.7 - Normal workout. Ate the same as yesterday and got 8+ hours of sleep for the first time in a long time!
5/23: 132.5 - Normal workouts and protein heavyish eating, which means for me I met my protein macros - something that I have a hard time doing. Good sleep. I’m still trying to figure my way around the world of maintenance.
5/24: 132.3 - Got my workouts in early to avoid the heat. Had a very carb-heavy dinner (Crispy Rice Bowl with Sweet Potatoes and Herby Tahini) and was too full to get my usual post-dinner greek yogurt in, which is one of my main sources of protein.
5/25: 132.1 - Another hot day yesterday, so all workouts were completed in the morning. For dinner, decided to do a panzanella salad with roasted peppers and onions so that any cooking that needed to be done would be on the grill. Even though I think I logged it accurately (or close enough), I felt so full from all of the bread, which made me think I was way over calories. Nope, even with my treats afterwords, still had lots of exercise calories to spare. Today promises to be another hot day so will get my day going with my workouts.
5/26: 132.1 - Another hot day here. Got my workouts in super early and even then it was hot. Since my morning routine shifted, I was hungrier earlier all day. Stayed within calories, but kept wanting to nibble. See you in the next round!

5/25 118.5 GKI 13.6 Great Greek yesterday. DGD’s fever broke and she said she feels better. DH will take home test again this morning to see if he feels “safe” going to lunch with friend who is 85 and pre diabetic. Planning to fast today. I haven’t done it in sooo long!

5/23 197.6 (+8.4) Finally back from my vacation to Botswana and Zimbabwe. It was two weeks of meeting incredible people, seeing African animals in the wild and eating the most amazing food. My plan was to eat what I wanted, just smaller portions. That went out the window right away with the professional chefs at the safari camps. I enjoyed every moment. At the same time, I was so grateful to be 70 pounds less than the last time I traveled internationally. Climbing in the safari vehicles, squeezing into the seats on the small puddle jumper planes, dragging my luggage through multiple airports and feeling so much more confident made such a huge difference in my enjoyment of this trip. I can’t wait to go again someday weighing even less than I did when I started this trip. Only a few days left on this challenge, but I wanted to jump back in.
5/24 196.2 (+7.0) I’ve caught a cold, so I won’t be going out to swim, but hoping to get the dogs out for a few long walks. I’m not quite back on track with eating, but giving myself some grace while I’m getting over jet lag.

5/19 364.6 9606 Happy dance out of the red. I got over 9500 steps in yesterday! I was too pooped to get 10,000. When I got home, I microwaved some popcorn and went straight to be and got in over 7 hours of sleep. Stayed on track today.
5/20 364.2 3259 It has been a long time since I have had a weight loss 2 days in a row. Most times it takes 2-3 days for me to drop. I am going to shoot for at least 5000 steps today.
5/21 364.2 3982 Got in a lot of steps today running errands. Eating OK, not the best.
5/22 362.8 8118 The steps paid off! I was still within calories. Had some good calories and bad calories. I hope I can stick a weekend loss and round weight loss goal. Today I will be on plan. Planning a workout.
5/23 362.8 4542 In the office today. A co-worker noticed I am losing weight. That made me feel great! In April someone at Congregation noticed. It helps me stay the course. I will hit my 6000 steps today and be under calories. I was over calories yesterday for sure, but I logged it all!
5/24 361.4 6062 On track today. I am going to shoot for getting in 5000 steps today. On track calorie wise. Not enough veggies. I had sweet potatoes and lima beans. I am never sure if beans and sweet potatoes count as veggies. But I am working on getting in more veggie’s different colors, etc.

5/26 359.0 6701 OMG! Unbelievable…. but I will take it………I have been eating clean and under calories. Now the key is to keep it going and to stick the new decade and say bye-bye to the 360’s forever. For those who did not lose weight, never give up and please stick with the challenge! If you maintained, you did something right! Congrats to everyone who lost weight! See you all next round!!

I joined MFP on March 27, 2010, weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO, the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively every day. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Every day I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.7 -

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

5/17 / 167 / Two day work conference is a wrap! Back to regular work tomorrow. I rode the Peloton for 60 minutes this evening and got a PR. Nice feeling.
5/18 / 165.4 / Had a nonstop day as we had an out of town family member in that had never been to Alberta before so we took him out for a quick trip to the mountains and back. Bed time now!
5/19 / 165.6 / Had a good day at work that included two coffee meetings and a lunch with my husband. Supper tonight was delicious and it was cold and rainy so we stayed in and watched some TV with my Mom. I rode the Peloton before a hot shower and got a new 30 minute PR.
5/20 / 163.2 / The Victoria Day long weekend is almost upon us. We are going up to the lake after work and will be there until Monday. There is a walk and shop event at our trailer, we are getting our dog groomed, and we hope to get our boat in the water. Lots of fun ahead!
5/21 / 162 / We were up early today to take our dog for grooming. Had a nice breakfast in the city and then came back to our trailer for the walk and shop event. Got a good number of steps. We are having BBQ tonight.
