Lossing weight through menopause

Options
I’ve been on a roller coaster for 5yrs now trying to cut down the calories and lose a stone in weight. Menopause not helping. Symptoms got them all! Can’t face a gym, was dipping in and out of going to exercise classes. Aiming to do 10000 steps a day. Suffer from lower back pain when exercise, so motivation is hard. Carbs make me feel good. Enjoy Socialising, which doesn’t help as it’s eating & drinking. Feel I know how to eat healthy but obviously don’t, as weight just not shifting. Getting motivated to go to the gym is what I need help with but my friends don’t go. Any tips would be welcomed.

My first tip would be to forget about depending on friends to go with you to the gym--just go. Lower back pain means you need to watch your form and do exercises to strengthen your back muscles. Yoga can help with that. I recommend it. Swimming is also a good choice. Find an exercise or movement you like to do and do that. Walking is also good.

However, to lose weight you have to balance your calorie intake. You need a deficit, however you want to go about it. "Eating healthy" does not equal weight loss. Get your daily calorie goal and eat that. Be consistent.

If you consistently weigh your nutrition intake and log it all, that alone can be motivating. I find myself cutting back in one area to offset eating/drinks out at restaurants. Am not much into gym either, but do enjoy cycling, swimming, walking, hiking that sort of activity.
