Hello Future friends

Hello 👋, I'm Jen and very new to MFP also. Still trying to figure out how to make all these apps work. I am dealing with my lack of self confidence because of my weight. I want to succeed and I'm sure you do too.. well why not be workout besties so we can push each other to our limits and give each other support.. Even if you feel your going to get off track! Hit me up!!

    Hi, Jen, and welcome to MFP.

    Weight loss has been a crazy confidence booster for me. I think it’s as much the thought of “I was pretty damn successful at this, maybe I can be successful elsewhere” as it was the actual weight loss itself.

    My initial advice would be, you sound very enthusiastic and I’m guessing you are hurling yourself into this.

    Do it thoughtfully and slowly, so it will “stick”. Don’t make a whole bunch of changes at once or you’ll utterly confuse yourself.

    Remember, if you’re starting a new exercise program, expect to gain weight. it’s just temporary water weight from sore muscles but it shocks some people and they get discouraged and quit.

    Take progress photos and measurements along the way. I didn’t and I regret that. Your brain messes with you. It was six months in before someone sent me a photo and I was just gobsmacked at the change. I couldn’t see it in the mirror but I sure saw it in photos.

    Above all be patient and kind with yourself. You’re going to have “off” days. So what. The next day is right back to plan. Screwups are expected. Self flagellation serves no purpose. You’d forgive others. Extend the same kindness to yourself.

    I don’t wish “good luck”. There’s no luck whatsoever about this process. However, I do wish you much success!!!!

    If you're looking for workout buddies, you might want to check out some of the exercise accountability threads or exercise challenge threads here. Those are a great way to stay engaged, and also get advice, find some virtual workout buddies, etc.
