Halloween or Christmas??

I think I'm starting to like Halloween more than Christmas. I love the decorations and costumes! Which do you prefer?

Anybody have any cool Halloween plans this year?
Costumes?
Traditions?

    HALLOWEEN!!! hands down it is my favorite holiday.

    i don't celebrate christmas, but yule is ok.

    definitely Halloween! Our neighborhood goes all out with decorations, haywagons loaded with kids trick or treating and the evening starts out with a neighborhood cookout! No cool costume ideas yet, hoping my last years witch costume is too big!

    I love both for different reasons.

    I love Halloween for the history and the belief that we honor those who have died. I love to dress up and I enjoy the colors.

    But, coming from a Roman Catholic upbringing, Christmas was made a big deal too. Time for family and togetherness and fun and giving.

    I love the Halloween season. Cooler weather, leaves everywhere, and no pressure to please everyone. But, then again, I have 5 kids so both are a blast

    Halloween all the way! Since I have a wicked sweet tooth, it's also the most difficult for me, food-wise. LOL. Most people get all anxious about Thanksgiving and Christmas overindulging, but not I. Just some turkey, some veggies, and I'm good to go. But me + candy corn = disaster.

    Christmas is just stress stress and MORE STRESS for me. Never liked it much.

    Christmas, 100% Christmas. I love decorating my house with all my Christmas stuff and setting up my Christmas village. I also love listening to all the Christmas songs. I love buying gifts for others, wrapping them and watching their faces as they open their gifts. I love love love Christmas. :love:

    Wow. I never thought I would hear a question like that.
    Christmas is hands down the best for reasons of family and culture.

    I have a huge "aging" family so decorations are purely tertiary.
    You cannot put a price on Christmas Eve dinner or Christmas Day, especially Christmas morning.
    Nothing comes close to Christmas.

    Kids in my neighborhood don't even trick or treat.

    Christmas. But, not for the reason most would think... I am not religious, so it holds no religious value to me. I could do without the presents, gift wrap and stress that comes with finding the "perfect gift".

    For me, it is about the family time. It seems like everyone kind of slows down and takes time to actually sit as a family and talk. That is why *I* love it.

    Halloween is eh. Boring to me.

    IMO I totally dont like the scary Halloween deco. Fall deco, such as the leaves and sunflowery colored things, pinecones, pumpkins are pretty. And the cute scarecrows. I just dont dig the nasty scary stuff. I love my Christmas decorations and I add to them every year. However, I do not like how CHristmas has become so commercialized. We are going to carefully select minimal gifts this year and impress on the kids the meaning behind Christmas is celebrating Christ's birth rather than what cool toys they will get. I'm actually kinda leaning toward the Thankfulness we have and remember together at Thanksgiving. But, tomorrow I may have a different opinion :)

    I think as I become older, Halloween is taking the lead. It used to be Christmas, hands down, but that magic starts wearing off as you age, and although I still love the festive lights and the smell of evergreen and cinnamon, I like the time of year for halloween better. It's just more fun.

    I love all the holidays after Labor Day. LOL

    This year my son is performing in a Halloween Parade w/ his fellow ROTC cadets. It's gonna be awesome! They have all sorts of halloween activities, trick or treating and of course the parade. On actual Halloween, we're staying home and going to hand out candy since we'll have already done some trick or treating.

    After Halloween I start planning for Thanksgiving and Christmas - both of those holidays I emphasize the importance of family time, giving and what we have to be thankful for.

    I LOVE listening to Christmas music too!!! hehe...I usually start listening to it by October already! The songs are just so beautiful, happy and uplifting and give you a warm feeling of nostalgia!

    I love both! I love Christmas but a certain amount of classiness is required while halloween can be last minute and as trashy as i want. In my neighborhood we have a ton of the hubby's co workers so for the one's off duty we keep a can of beer for each one that brings the kiddos by. multiply that by 15 family houses and you can get the adults delightfully sloshed while trick or treating.

    Christmas, as I am English and we didn't even DO all hallows much when I was growing up, and we have only once ever had trick or treaters call and we live in a neighbourhood with lots of children, it's just not really 'big' here, and the only reason people do anything is that we have seen it in films and tv shows from the US.

    I literally plan my outfits the year before, randomly shop and buy the perfect pieces, and usually sew most of it myself. Always have 2-3 costumes ready to go. Half those outfits aren't even from halloween though, just random parties and dressing up.

    Halloween has always been a favorite of mine. I love when the trees turn colors and you can take a walk and soak in the beauty of the fall. I love the ghostly aspects of Halloween and seeing the costumes that the kids wear or those that are hanging in the store. My birthday is a week afterwards, too... so I kind of connect the two events.

    Candy corn!!!!!!!!

    I wish there was a party to go to, but I haven't heard of anything. I miss dressing up in cool costumes. I was the type of kid that you had to chase away... too old to Trick or Treat.*sniffles*

    Halloween..... I love it! Costumes let you be someone or something else for one night a year. It lets me try something daring without strange stares. Plus with Halloween I don't have to put up with members of my family that I don't care to because it's just not a come together feel good holiday for my family. It's a do your own thing day and I like it that way. I adore the little kids and I enjoy making my kids costumes. Someday..... I'm going to make it to an adults only costume party.

    I have a sudden intense urge to call a realtor and move to your neighborhood.

    Christmas has been a huge disappointment to me since we moved to Nevada, but in Nevada you always get an extra day off at Halloween. WOOT!

    We have always loved Halloween, and now since Christmas is such a boring bummer we just leave the skellies and zombies out then stick Santa hats on them once December rolls around. It's dead efficient. :P

    I start listening the day after Thanksgiving, that is when I begin to decorate and prepare for Christmas! I agree with you about the songs being beautiful, happy and uplifting. They sure do give you that warm feeling of nostalgia!
