LOL, you cracked me up, Bart! As far as the number of clothes go? Yes, you could call it minimalism, being practical, "pulling a Steve Jobs," or "owning a capsule wardrobe." There is nothing wrong with any of those things. I have worn several types of uniforms over many decades, and I quite enjoyed it--I never had to worry about what to wear on top of already stressful jobs, and I always saved money, etc. Uniforms help identify teams/crews/staff for outliers and the public, and it helps in presenting a professional image. These days there is so much sloppiness all over the place, that I would rather see someone neat and tidy and wearing the same kinds of clothing each day than seeing all the pj's, leggings, slippers, and sloppy anything, and all the ripped jeans and crud.

The irony is that people actually spend money to buy ripped clothes, when all they have to do is rip them themselves to look like a homeless person or a bum. People spend hundreds of dollars on these stupid jeans, LOL. Bunch of suckers...

If you showed up for a job interview with me with ripped or tight or sloppy anything, or overdone or weird make-up, you would not get hired, and I wouldn't even give you an interview. I don't care what age the person is either, and it wouldn't matter the job.

Now, if you showed up in well-fitting clothing, and it's tailored, or a nice suit, or you are dressed like Grace Kelly, or otherwise look like you give a darn? You deserve the interview, because you show you not only respect yourself, but you respect my time, and therefore me.

Clothes reveal so much about a person.
I like that, Fit2btied2016, I (vaguely) remember David Suzuki making a similar statement about waiting until clothes spring holes on their own instead of buying them ripped. My take would be that if I want to look like a bum, I'd do my very best to actually look like one, and not like a fake one.

And indeed, clothes do reveal much about a person. In my case, I am not trying to project any particular image of myself, but I like to think that it reveals I am more interested in what is important to me and not in some shallow image. It also unavoidably (and I don't want to avoid it either) that I am comfort-oriented. I don't see the point of wearing a crew-neck or a V-neck and a shirt, when a turtleneck accomplishes the exact same goal while being significantly more comfortable, at least to me.

Over the decades, that has made me fashionable, old-fashioned, retarded, artistic and smart, all while not changing a thing, just depending on the fashion of the day. I am a bit like the broken clock that it is correct once or twice a day, depending on whether it is a digital (I am a fan) or an analog style (not a fan).

I never liked work costumes. Neckties are costumes. Suit coats are costumes. I am fortunate that where I live, people don't generally have a problem with people wearing khakis or jeans (or Carhartt pants) to work as long as they are in good condition. When I was still working, I could get nice button-up collared shirts at second hand shops. I have SO MANY. I got to the point that I made an agreement with myself; if I wanted to bring one home, I had to get rid of one. It might even be the one I just brought home, so I better really love it.

I always carry a small notepad and pen, so a shirt with a pocket helps. I still wear these shirts in retirement. Perhaps over the next summer I'll start wearing T-shirts again; I have some nice ones that I like as well.

I actually did buy a nice pair of slacks a few years ago before I traveled across the continent for a life-event for a family member. They live in a part of the country where they are still stuck in a time when you have to "dress up." I wore them for that one weekend; it was right before I started my weight loss, so they are kind of huge now. Waste of money.

Even people who go to places of worship wear jeans and no ties. I remember going to one dressed in a suit like I used to where I used to live. I realized it was not necessary. Around here, we dress for comfort. Function over form. Of course things full of holes are a different story. I do keep old jeans with holes, but just for working around the house when I don't want to ruin my nicer pairs, and I always keep one nearly-new pair for "dress up" stuff.

I'm more likely to do "funky formal" weird dress-up. If there's an event I need a coat and tie, I will pass. I would sometimes wear a nice wool sport coat to work, just for fun. People would *kitten* their head because it was not that normal for me. Or anyone. Some managers wore ties. I actually was always surprised that some supervisors dressed like schlubs - way more casual than I. Ratty T-shirts untucked and worn-out jeans. Whatever. Glad I don't go there anymore.

Be very careful, please. COVID-19 is currently resurging and it is doing so with a variant against which protection is somewhat limited, and many hospitals will be able to tell you that this has unfortunate consequences.

Not a NSV in the strictest sense of the term, but it made me laugh and is something I would have never thought of it I hadn't experienced it myself. So, my husband drives us places most of the time. I haven't needed to go anywhere by myself in a couple of months. I got my paperwork to renew my license plate tags last week and decided to go out today and do it. I get in the car and realize my butt has shrunk enough that my rearview mirror was now pointed too far up and I couldn't see the bottom of my rear window. LOL. I had to readjust it now that my head is lower in my seat than before. Not a side effect of losing weight that the average person would think of.

    Hahaha! Best NSV! Love it!
