I was recently diagnosed with Poly Myalgia Rheumatica. I take prednisone to treat it. The PMR had slowed me down so much that I gained a bunch of weight. I am not losing weight right now , but I am not gaining which is a celebration (prednisone's main side effects are weight gain and fluid retention) . The big moment was when my husband told me that he is so proud of me for remaining on anti inflammatory keto diet and recording all my food, exercising and taking the best possible care of my health16

We went and bought new running shoes today and I got a super cute cropped hoodie in a size small and it absolutely, 100% fits perfectly. Even my 20 year old daughter said “Mom, that’s perfect for you. It fits perfectly at your waist. Super cute!” 🥰11

I traded in a bunch of too large clothes at a buy/sell thrift store. I was trying on a new-to-me dress, long black velvet, clings to every curve, in a size medium. The girl who worked at the shop told me my body was snatched, which I'm under the impression is a good thing.
I'd already tried on another dress that I literally gasped when I saw it in the mirror so it was a really good experience.23 -
Last night I was packing my gym bag in the dark to not wake my wife, forgot to pack a belt. Discovered this when getting dressed, didn't think it would be a problem since these particular pants were tight on me the last time I wore them. However, throughout the day, anytime I've been standing/walking I've been forced to keep my hands in my pockets to try to subtly keep my pants up, lol.22

Thanksgiving my family had the first gathering we’ve been able to have since 2019. We had acres of food I weighed myself November 20. I ate way to much but I said Thanksgiving is ONE DAY. Kept tracking. Saturday after thanksgiving went to another gathering another day of overeating. So today I worked up the courage to weigh myself. Expecting the worst. I’ve LOST .4 lb in 9 days.
To make this victory even sweeter I was 90lbs over weight in July I said I’m going to lose 5lbs mini goals. This.4 hit a mini goal.24 -
Most of the XL shirts that were tight on me 4 months ago are now beginning to be pretty loose on me. I've also gone down 2 pants sizes.19

I bought new running shoes and didn't need the wide size anymore. My feet have shrunk enough to feel just as good in the mediums which are easier to find.17

Met a new health-care provider yesterday, and as she went through my file, she read out loud that I'm diabetic. Except I've never received that diagnosis, so I questioned it (unfortunately, it is NOT uncommon for doctors to not tell me things...) She went and looked at my last labs, and asked "why is that in there? Your A1C is normal."
"What does that mean?" I asked, because no, it's not. Not in years and years. but it is. My A1C is 5.4. Pre-diabetic is 5.7 to 6.4, and I am no longer in that range.
I've lost thirty pounds, could usefully lose at least another hundred--but I'm back in the normal range for blood sugar, and I'm DELIGHTED.33 -
I finally packed away my summer robes and pulled out my favorite green velvet winter robe, and it was visibly too large on my shoulders and when wrapping to tie closed. I haven't felt like a skinny little thing in decades, hah! (and I'm certainly not, but I've lost 30 pounds from my highest weight last winter when this fit, so there's that)16

Had hip replacement surgery yesterday and I just finished my second PT and worked with the Occupational therapist as well. Both were impressed with where I was and see no issues with be being discharged.
I am already able to walk without my walker, however it is still highly recommended that I use it. Especially while I am still using pain meds to ease the pain from the surgery itself.
I plan on walking at least three more times today and will shoot for a 1/2 mile in one of them.22 -
The NSV I am most proud of, in addition to wearing pants 3 sizes smaller, which is definitely a nice perk, is being able to run fast again. I have rarely felt this free, alive, and full of power since I was 17 and on the high school cross country team .23

The other day my adult son came in my bedroom while I was shirtless, paused, and told me he saw the start of a legitimate six-pack of abs for the first time in his life.25

I went down 2 holes on my belt.16

Had to have my wedding ring resized yet again. I have now gone from a 9.75 to a size 6.5!26

I have shin muscles. I didn't even know shins HAD muscles.26

My parents told me that I could always have the couch when I come home from Peace Corps. When I came home, there was no couch. I asked them where the couch is. They said, "Oh, we told you that you could have the couch. We put it in a storage unit. When you get your own place, you can go pick it up."7 -
We went on vacation to the Florida Keys and I got my souvenir Key West Hard Rock Cafe hoodie in a ladies small… and it fit! Wore it on our evening walk after coming home from vacation last night. One of our neighbor ladies yelled to me in the street “Girl, you are looking good!!!” We are neighborhood regulars. We walk our dogs every day, multiple times a day and people have seen me losing weight from a 3X so it’s not uncommon to have relative strangers commenting on my body.
Also, I have a medic-alert bracelet I wear when traveling & my wrists have shrunk enough that I have to clip it up in between the beads instead of the clasp to keep it on. Might be time to just order a smaller one.15 -
I can actually run up the stairs instead of climbing them one step at a time like I had to at this time last year.19

we need a 'LOL' button!
@hounton ~ couch - hysterical!
all the NSVs - inspiring - way cool. thank you for sharing!
life/medical evoked restart going on here. wrapped up 1 week of following meal plan, tracking and adding intentional exercise. starting wk 2 today, yay!10 -
My most recent NSV success is having to purchase smaller undergarments. I definitely spoiled myself there.11

This is subtler but huge for me. Two nights ago, I made brownies, because we all needed a little special lift, and having had a tooth pulled a few days ago, that was a soft treat.
I ate half one that night.
I ate half one the next night.
I may or may not have one tonight.
This is a HUGE difference from before I started this because then I would have eaten half the pan that night and then the rest the next morning and felt sick because of the compulsion to eat it if it was there.
I don't feel compelled to have it just because it's there.31 -
Half the pan? Duffer.
( edited because Hmmmm better add a 😘 to this.)6 -

I've actually never gotten over the feeling of eating something because it's there. I still do it so something like that is seriously a nsv in my eyes.
I hope they were at least big brownies
(I really need to go through this thread more. It's a good feeling to see people's accomplishments.)11 -

That was the word I was looking for.

I've been waiting to lose enough weight for a certain dress to look good. I wore it today, but it still didn't look good because it's now a bit too big....22

Yesterday the husband did a fireman carry because I lazily asked him to carry me to bed! He had zero problems! 5'3" 150 ish lbs.
This is a huge NSV for us, because in 2003 when I was morbidly obese 3 (270 pounds) I was in the garage with him in our new home and I had a grand mal seizure. He felt helpless because he couldn't bring me inside, or call 911. I was pretty much banned from entering the garage for a full 2 years.
He was definitely scarred from this, and I continued to have seizures for 2 years, then they subsided. But now, he knows that if something happens he can carry me and that is a huge load off of his mind!!32
