AF yesterday. Finally tried the Heineken NA. Not bad.

1/10: AF - We only have Lagunitas IP"N"A beer in the house. Staying AF until the weekend. We ate dinner so late that it was easy not to late-night snack. Thursday will be a temptation since it's date night and I'm sure we'll dine out.

@Womona We're were hoping to but hybrids are scarce right now. We're still searching but looking at a non-hybrid this weekend.6

@tiptoethruthetulips I know what you mean by 'two left feet" but line dancing sounds like a lot of fun. I laugh at myself every time I try to do one of the short cardio dance routines that @dawnbgethealthy shared with us.5

Foot surgery???? Oh my gosh!! There are like a gazillion bones in the foot.
What has happened that led to this?
@dawnbgethealthy It's arthritis and couple other issues with my left big toe! Sounds funny but it's been coming on for a long time. I've ignored it as long as possible because I hate the idea of workout interruption. I have multiple issues with both feet. I never thought that at 62 I'd have these kinds of problems. That's supposed to happen in the 80s, right?

@joans1976 Good job at playing the whole movie! Hugs!8

@MissMay Awesome photos! It really makes me miss Florida! The thing I love about the west coast of Florida is the awesome sunsets.5

Hello everyone
Well broke my alcohol rule this week. Went for beer and lunch yesterday afternoon. Stopped at 2 so that is good. But last night, I face planted into a bag of rolo's, butter mints and cheese puffs. ... as I drank mocktails. Go figure?
My body is sore from working out Monday and Tuesday. Taking two weeks off may have not been a good idea.
ok going to scoot10 -
@MissMay
Spectacular photos!!! Do you have an actual camera or were those taken with your phone?
So lovely.4 -

Yes, same, I don't want to be out of commission, and I make my living on my feet. Everything that I love to do includes activity. Mine is also arthritis, and it is a *kitten*.
When is the surgery and for how long will you be laid up?
BTW, those Fitness Marshall songs get easier after 5-10 times for each. He posts a new one every week, there are hundreds. A few favourites I have done many times are more like just dancing for me now that I know the movements.
Monday there was a new one, and I was thinking that Haley and Alison looked different as I saw the beginning - it was his Grandma and his Mom!! : - ) His grandma has been in a few, she seems to be having lots of fun. I will post a couple of those.3 -
I am Dawn, I live in SE BC Canada
My ongoing goal remains, 16-20 AF days per month.
Last month I had 18AF days
I do this diary style to keep track, and post the next morning
Friday January 06 - 2 drinks in the afternoon, none in the evening. Freezing came out, but I didn't have any pain after that until much later in the night.
Saturday January 07 - 2 drinks in the afternoon (again), none in the evening. Couldn't seem to get enough food into me, but I gave myself a pass on that. Planned AF for Sunday.
Sunday January 08 - AF - Back to work this Monday morning. Ankle is feeling pretty much like it did before the steroid shot, but I was told 2-6 weeks to feel full results. My plan is to have drinks on the weekend and one weeknight.
Monday January 09 - AF - Hoping to go to public skating at the arena on Wednesday during my split shift break. Even when it was really hurting, skates on made it feel comfortable. Hockey skates have a great deal of support.
Tuesday January 10 - AF - As usual, when AF my weight drops after a couple of days
Rolling total: 6AF days out of 10 days.7 -
Some fun Fitness Marshall short dance video songs featuring Caleb's grandma:

This one is his sister and his grandma:

This one is very new, I have tried it twice, it is very hard!! It is his Grandma and his Mom dressed like his usual dancers:

OMG those look so fun! Thank you for posting, Dawn. How did I miss these the first time?
ETA: Thanks also for the awesome sunsets, MissMay. Very nice message, too.4 -
@Stockholm_Andy I am so glad you wrote this in your last post
"Starting to think about how I tackle the rest of 2023. Last time i did a month AF I then dived straight back into my old ways once I'd completed the challenge to myself."
The word challenge as you see is the key.
I moved the LESS Alcohol thread out of the challenges category on MFP as of Dec 2020 into the MOTIVATION AND SUPPORT category.
It was originally started in challenges back in 2017 and I noticed over years of participating that so many people took it as a short term fix and would do a crash course then be right back where they started or even worse.
Drinking LESS needs to be approached as a life style change for the long run. Challenges are fun and sometimes cliché (ex:ice bucket challenge LOL)
Thank you for sparking that thought in my head with your post.
Thank you for sparking that
Thank you for these thoughtful posts. It has gotten me thinking too, I noticed that this thread was NOT in the challenge section and I have to say that I think it makes more sense, at least for me. I am trying to practice moderation and mindfulness about when and why I consume alcohol so calling it a challenge doesn't feel right to me. Challenge implies a fight or resistance to something and I don't want to feel like I am fighting or resisting alcohol. I want to feel motivated to practice moderation.

January accountability: 6 days AF
Alcohol: 5 days (13 drinks)
Goal: Limit 2 glasses per day; 20-25 AF days this month. I usually target 12-16 AF days each month which is usually a challenge … hitting 20 days since DH backed out of his dry January commitment is definitely influencing me to join him on weekdays I had not planned when setting the goal. Going for it anyway!
1/11 - AF
Our son is out of town on business for 2 weeks so our DIL asked to come over with our granddaughter and their 2 dogs for a couple of days to break up the time alone. So another house full.
No wine with dinner though DH thought about it but I declined so he didn't open one.
He had a bourbon & coke after dinner.
DIL & I stayed AF.
It seems I'm neck and neck on the A vs AF days this month.

I had to wait about 2 months for mine last year. I hear ya!3 -
Hi all, quick fly-by. Hoping you’re all having a good week. I’m very inspired by each of you! This is such a great community, ans I feel really blessed to be part of it. I love hearing about everything, the good and the bad. High fives to those who are meeting their goals, and hugs to those who fell down, and to those struggling with stuff right now.
Went to dinner last night, 1 glass of wine, but am AF tonight. The weight is coming down!5 -
AF tonight, eating better and slowly getting back on track.
Took a massive chunk off of my finger after using new sharpening stones I picked up at SMKW to put my old Calphalon Katana knives back in shape. It's awesome when they're properly sharp. I took the first one done down to the kitchen sink to wash it and put it away and shwippp, the nerves in my finger all stood up and said WHAT WAS THAT? Look down and wait for the blood to come, just thinking I'm glad it wasn't deeper...

So lovely.
OMG Dawn thank you for the hilarious laugh from those vids. How can you not like that dude, right?
Take care of that ankle if you go skating. YEESH!
My husband's Uncle has an amazing fancy huge camera and he was showing me how to use it the other night and those are the photos I snapped with it. Any other time the photos are just from my phone camera.3 -

I lived on the East Coast and was impressed with our sunrises all the time. Because we received the sun coming up first in the United States. I once sat on top of Cadillac Mountain with my Sister from 3:00AM until after the sun came up. Surprisingly the place got really crowed with people all wanting to experience the same thing while wrapped in blankets so we would not freeze to death up there.
NOW.... watching it set here on the West coast is amazing. You can literally see how fast it is moving. If you turn your head to talk to someone for just 30 seconds, it has already moved a huge distance.4 -
Nice job @lilylady3k even with the fam back in the house and your hubby having a few.

I am more worried about you eating that strange, VERY STRANGE combination of junk. Then the fact you had another beer.
