74 years-old great-grandmother (5'2")
ON 8/29/2022: I was 134 LBS and had a 33” natural waist
MAINTENANCE 115-118 LBS (still trying to decide what I want my range to be).
Lessons for maintenance: 1) exercise at least 30 minutes five {5} days a week 2) try to walk no less than 10,000 steps a day 3) If/when my weight creeps up (118-119 LBS) increase the incline on the treadmill and add a burst of running to routine 4) eat a low-calorie salad before eating dinner 5) limit fried & breaded foods 6) continue to add ice cubes to my 5 oz glass of wine 7) eat fish for dinner at least 2 times a week 8) eight to nine hours of sleep a day 9) Of the 60oz of water daily-drink 8oz of water a half hour before each meal 10) three (3) meals a day and 1-2 small snacks, nothing after dinner.
Round 211- loss -1.1 LBS
01/21-116.5
Round 212: RSW: 117.2 waist: 28” (goal 27 ½’)
01/22- 117.2
01/23- 116.3 -as I bounce between 116-117. I am still debating with myself what is a good weight for me and how should I determine that. Is it my Normal BMI range? Or is it my “waist to hip ratio”? Or what my scale reads? Is it how my clothes fit? Or how I physically feel? Or is it what I see when I look in the mirror-”Body image”? Sadly I have always had a distorted body image and no matter how skinny I get I see bulges. This is still a work in progress and I am still unclear where I want to end up.

@Machias1949 The ice in the less-than-good glass of wine is actually a great trick/tip. If it helps reduce the intake/calories, I'm all for that. I may try that next time I have a glass of chardonnay. It seems like it would work better for white wine.5

@Machias1949 In the past I posted this TRUE STORY about MY own body image.
I have related my story from summer 2019 - my dear friend kept telling me I was “tiny” but I didn’t believe her until I saw someone watching me (from inside the building) dry off when I got out of the community pool. I couldn’t figure out WHO that small lady was staring at me until I realized she was wearing MY BATHING SUIT! OMG!! SHE was ME!!! I AM tiny! Now, over a year later I am still having difficulty thinking of myself as tiny but it may be getting easier. Everyone have faith in yourself and believe your friends when they compliment your progress!8 -

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for over 5 years with amazing results!
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

1/22: 131.3 - I’m surprised it is not higher since I’ve had two late night binges in a row. I think the only saving grace calorie-wise is that on both days I ended up eating only one meal. Today I’ll go back to a more normal meal schedule.
1/23: 131 - My daughter stopped by on her way home (we’re about half-way on her 7+ hour drive) and took a bunch of the goodies that I had made for our dinner party with her.

Up a little bit due to celebratory pizza last night but this will come off. It was a really good reason to celebrate and you can’t miss big milestones in life!
What was your milestone? Congrats either way!
@clprieur I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2022. After surgery some things came about and there was talk of chemo. I had to get a lot of scary tests done but the cancer has not spread and I found out last Thursday I will not need chemo! I am so lucky! I still have to have some other not so fun treatments but overall, things are looking up and I am going to beat this. 💪🏼
That's a fabulous milestone to celebrate, so happy for you, hope you do keep up that fight, you are worth it !!6 -
Hey all, I noticed a few of you are trying to decrease or monitor your alcohol intake. I DO NOT want to hijack this thread so I wont post the link without @quiltingjaine 's permission but there is a Less Alcohol thread here on MFP. It is very supportive, some people are alcohol free, some less alcohol, all different kinds. Just an FYI.2

Everyone have faith in yourself and believe your friends when they compliment your progress!
Yes, I am the same, still after 8 years of losing my weight (and still battling with maintenance) I am momentary shocked when I catch sight of my reflection in a shop window as I walk by or in mirrors when I'm out. Somehow, the mirrors at home do not do that for me ?? Whether, the familiar surroundings take my mind of it, I don't know !!5 -

I was part of this challenge a while back, and was glad to see it's still around (thank you @quiltingjaine! ) In June, I was diagnosed with a serious medical illness. I had surgery with great results! I stress-ate like there was no tomorrow, and didn't exercise at all. I'm back to just 6 pounds from my heaviest. I'm having a hard time getting back to my healthy ways. This forum helped me before so I'm back, not just for the accountability but because how kind and supportive everyone is to each other.
Goal this round:
Do NOT eat sugar or white flour. These are my downfall. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Start back rowing/walking/weights. Eat healthy. Drink 80oz water each day.
01/21 - Start Weight: 180.2
Round 212
01/22 - 177.9 - As I've gained weight this time, I've gotten closer and closer to the 180's and hitting 180 yesterday, I hope, jerked me awake. My plan was never to see that number again (and for that matter, I never "planned" to see any of the numbers I've seen, who does, right? ) . Anyway, yesterday was a really good day, finally! I did as I have done every day, which is eat healthy and keep my calories in check for the entire day, but all other days, I've ended up bingeing in the evening. Yesterday, I did NOT. Yay! Getting thru a day where I was in control and not my sugar-craving self was wonderful! Happy Sunday everyone, and for those who watch - football!![/spoiler]
01/23 - 177.2 (weighed later than my normal time) - Second day on track. Need to up the amount of water I'm drinking - only drank a little over 40oz each of the last 2 days. I rode the stationary bike yesterday for a whole 10 mins, but you have to start somewhere. I haven't exercised since my surgery in June. My exercise today is snow shoveling. I shoveled once already and another round is coming in this afternoon. We have a 600ft driveway (no, not shoveling it LOL). We have a plow but there are all the side doors, sidewalk, getting out to my workshop, etc., I could use the snow blower but sometime it's easier just to grab a shovel and it burns lots of calories!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
