Just a couple of hints for the women that want better covering swimwear for aquafit, or any other reason.
Have a look at triathlon swim wear.
That was my first choice when I started aquafit back in 2009. I had this fantastic retro black suit with a zip up front, high round neckline elbow length sleeves, and legs that were about 6” long.
The only thing wrong with it was it was high Lycra so lasted less than a year with 3 x week usage. Designed more for fresh water use.
My next suits were pro training suits made of mainly polyester.
They are still in good shape today with no fade or stretch. Probably a good solid 6 yr use.
Another alternate is Burkini swimwear (Amazon has a good selection). This is swimwear developed for Muslim women’s modesty requirements, but is great for covering any woman’s body. There are some very nice styles including ones that are Rash Guard to prevent sun burn. Great for those who love snorkeling in the Caribbean too.
Just alternates to gymwear because I tried it and found it unsuitable, it didn’t wear well and was too heavy.
Cheers, h.12 -
I crossed my legs!!! I gained over 150 lbs as an adult, and there are so many things that I can't do anymore. I'm down almost 70 lbs since August, and yesterday I CROSSED MY LEGS! Thought I was going to cry in public I was so happy. ✨️🙌20

"In two weeks you'll FEEL IT......" Its been just over three weeks of regular vigorous exercise. WOW! I really feel the difference! I ran for the bus the other day and my heart didn't run out of my chest screaming in protest!! Heartbeat stayed strong and steady. I'm not out of breath after my workouts, my resting heart rate is slower and I sleep much better. Knowing my organs and the synchronicity of my body is working SO much better is all the motivation I need to go the FULL distance! 😊11

I got two climbs at my normal climbing graded higher than I've managed before. (This gym has 5 buckets of grades, easy; intermediate; hard; very hard; and crank.) These climbs were very hard (which is 6c to 7a font grading, or v5 to v6 in the v scale.) There's no way I'm a v6 climber, so my best estimate is they were v5, but more likely mis-graded v4s.8

I jogged on the treadmill. Not walked..... JOGGED. I haven't jogged on anything since 2010. I was able to go for 5 minutes at 4.5. That is a huge NSV for me.30

My best friend pointed out that I was noticeably not struggling on a recent nature walk, which I had been the last couple of years.20

Getting dressed for work - nothing is too small, somethings may be too big though!23

I had to move in the arms of my home office chair. They were too far out with there being a little less of me!13

I haven't removed my wedding ring in 20 years, in part for symbolic reasons, in part because I physically cannot get it off my finger after gaining almost 60# post-wedding. This really only is an issue in the gym as I have to wear gloves to protect my ring from getting scratched to pieces while lifting weights; I'm the only guy in my gym who wears gloves lifting.
The other day I noticed my ring felt a bit loose, now that I've lost about 35 of those pounds (and likely more, since I'm sure muscle gain is obscuring at least some of the fat loss). Hadn't even thought to attempt removing the ring in years, but it came off no problem! I'm recovering from an elbow injury so no lifting for another ten weeks, but I'm looking forward to lifting without gloves.16 -
My cholesterol has improved… went from bad to good 👍 I’m impressed with myself 😊19

I had outgrown at least 10 pairs of jeans, leaving me with only a few pairs of 14’s that are large enough to wear. (I refuse to buy more). Last weekend I tried on my old jeans and can fit into many of them. Still need to lose a few more lbs before I’ll wear them regularly but I’m getting close! I was even glad to have a small stack of size 8-10’s that aren’t close to fitting yet because it means I have another goal to strive for.11

I was riding my bike home from a “muscle madness” class after dark.
I’m stopped on a side alley, waiting to cross a busy street. It’s fairly dark, bike has LEDs twinkling like a mobile disco, and I’m in skin tight leggings with a hoodie, poised to shoot across the intersection.
Pickup truck goes by slowly, and a young man hangs his head out the passenger window and wolf whistles.
I look up and start laughing my *kitten* off, just in time to see his look of utter horror when he sees I’m old enough to be his grandma. I could hear his friend laughing helplessly, too.
Methinks he’ll be hearing about that for years to come.
This is hysterical. Thank you for the laugh.6 -
Since Jan 5th my fasting blood sugar has gone from 198 to 105 and all other aspects from bloodwork report have gone from red to green. Still not there yet but this was with diet alone. So today I am adding walking to my daily routine.17

I've hit my treadmill goal speed at 6.0 mph for 35 minutes19

The other day I was on a walk. I've been walking a lot. I was with a friend; we walked about 6.5 miles through a nearby park that we can both walk to from our homes.
I was describing the features of the fitness tracking wrist device I wear. I showed her my VO2Max data and how walking more the last several weeks has improved it. With a smug grin, I showed her that it said I'm in the top 25 percentile of people my gender and age range and that it showed my "Fitness Age" (whatever that really means) was a number that is 16 years younger than my chronological age.
Well knock me over with a feather, dip me in chocolate, and roll me in ants; when we got done with that walk, my VO2Max had improved by a point, and my "Fitness Age" also changed to a number that was 17 years younger than what the calendar would tell me.
Is it OK for me to feel just a little bit of pride?26 -
I can now wear jeans for only one day before having to wash them again. They are all loose enough that if I try to wear them a second day, I get a pooch in the crotch where they sag down, and I have to keep pulling them up, even with a belt! (Sadly for me, I figured this out while my daughter and I were picking up a few things in the mall. A little embarrassing... but still great!)11

"In four weeks you'll SEE it....." I have just completed five weeks of regular vigorous exercise. I actually got rid of my scale as I found it stressful. Not only that it was responsible for how I felt .... but it just added to floor clutter! I weigh myself for free once a month at the local community centre first thing in the morning before breakfast. So I rely on NSV's quite a bit. And the Centre has a beautiful accurate scale...which makes it fun!
After five weeks of regular exercise...which is now an easy habit...I DO SEE IT! 👀 I fit into a pair of SIZE 8 JEANS for the FIRST time! They've been in my closet for one year...I just couldn't get them on. I work out an average of 5x per week. My next target.....in 8 weeks my family and friends see it.
So far.....I am proving that this motivating quote is true. JUST HANG IN THERE!! YOU CAN DO IT!! 😊13 -
Today it's -23c outside. I needed to put on my warm boots which are big and clunky and hard to put on as I couldn't bend over enough to pull them on. Well call me gobsmacked!! I could bend over no problem and pull them on. And I didn't have to sit down to do it either! All because I dropped those 35 lbs. Can't wait for the next 35 to be gone.....Momma might need a new pair of boots!!18

I went for a quick walk at lunch even though the weather looked iffy and I'm pretty sure I have some of the Rain King genetics in me. I even managed to only get dripped on.

Wore a babydoll dress and tights today. Didn’t realize til bedtime that it is so short, it’s very probably a tunic.
My NSV is, instead of freaking out about what other people might have thought, I no longer care, and am confident enough to wear it - and rock it- as a micro dress again.
I’m really enjoying wearing dresses again, btw. Those Uniqlo Heattech tights are the bomb. You can’t wear them out, they wash well, they really are warm and comfortable, flattering, and hide the legs of the unshorn very well. 😚

I have gained a few pounds lately that won't seem to budge and have been super bummed about this. I am still lifting and crushing it at the gym but I only see the ways I am failing at nutrition lately. Last night, I saw an old coworker at the gym who I haven't seen in a year or so. He yelled over to me to tell me how awesome my arms look and how my hard work is definitely showing. So that really felt great.13

LOL 🤣 the Rain King 🤣 lol love it
Hail Thor 🤘.
My NSV, making "diet approved foods" taste good, I've been at this long enough it's almost become natural. Yesterday my mother came for lunch and we had a salad.. She loved it. Didn't call my "diet" food cardboard and swore she could lick that dressing right off the spoon. Guess I don't make cardboard anymore mom 😉
