Wouldn't that be great?0

Isn't caffeine a weird thing, in that the delivery method seems to impact its efficacy? For example, doesn't a caffeine pill wake me up more than a soda which has an equivalent amount of caffeine in it?
(Shall we pause while @cat0703a locates a thesaurus to find the word "efficacy"?)1 -
Couldn't you have just said effectiveness?0
-
Where's the fun in that? Shouldn't we all take time to expand our vocabulary from time to time?0
-
Wouldn't I rather any other synonym over 'efficacy'? Isn't it a much overused word in the pharma world?0
-
Does the overuse of the word efficacy in the pharma world make it seem less effective, thus affecting you in a negative way? 🤔2

Don't I find my vocabulary expands more organically by reading (both fiction and non-fiction)?0

"Milquetoast" - didnt I come across this word just yesterday that I had never heard of before?0
-
Isn’t that a new one for me too?0
-
Didn't I hear it years ago? Didn't one of my coworkers used to refer to an old boss as milquetoast?0
-
I guess they didn’t like the boss so much?0
-
Not the most flattering description, right? Unless they enjoy having a pushover in a position of power?0

Didn't I also hear this word years ago, and knew its meaning, but always thought it was spelled milktoast, like what was served to me in kindergarten before my nap? But doesn't the term come from the name Caspar Milquetoast, a character in the 1920's cartoon strip "The Timid Soul"?Didn't I hear it years ago? Didn't one of my coworkers used to refer to an old boss as milquetoast?0 -
What is the etymology of that idiom? (Does anybody know which show/character this quote came from?)1
-
Isn’t this thread getting too deep?0
-
@nossmf, I'm guessing you didn't see my post immediately above yours?

Or, were you asking where the quote "What is the etymology of that idiom?" comes from?0 -
isnt it my guess that the author who named his fictional character milquetoast based that on the much older term 'milksop'?
Although I had never seen 'milquetoast' before, havent I come across 'milksop' quite often in historical novels?0 -
Guess who's on a 2-day 8 hours of sleep streak ?0

Don’t I hope it’s everyone on this thread? How do you feel?
Aren’t I just happy I doubled the amount I had the night prior? 😅0 -
Are you saying some of us need beauty sleep because we need more beauty?1

Who else is going to have a 16 oz steak and baked potato tonight? 😋
When I say 16 oz. steak, don't I mean ½ tonight and ½ tomorrow? 😂0 -
Doesn't that beat the grilled cheese sandwich I ate after I finished painting?0
