Started these 10 day challenges!! Genius!!! So achievable!! With always a chance of redemption, right around the corner!
@clprieur ---- Our lovely @quiltingjaine is not the original one who started this challenge, but she is the lovely lady who has stepped up to post and host this challenge of late. She does know the history of the past hostesses as she has been with this challenge since the beginning (or nearly the beginning?). Along with you, I am very grateful for her!
@deepwoodslady Ohhhhhh. Ah well. I guess I will have to create the app, then. Thanks for letting know.

03/10 -191.6- (Trend weight 192.5)
03/11 -189.2- (Trend weight 192.2) Well, here’s the true weight after the water pill took all the excess fluid out that I spoke of yesterday. What a relief to my ankles especially! Interestingly, the last two nights I dozed off on the couch and woke up STARVING TO ABSOLUTE DEATH, both times at about 12:30 a.m. I was so close to a binge it was UNBELIEVABLE! I found myself justifying (out loud, mind you) why it’s okay for me to eat whatever I want right now, and in large quantities. Why I should just shove in many kinds of foods and “get it out of my system” as long as I’m so hungry anyway. I tell you folks, it took EVERYTHING I HAVE INSIDE THIS NEARLY 63 YEAR OLD BODY to stop myself. I grabbed a handful of almonds (21 of them to be exact, which is ¾ of a serving) and I ate those, drank water and focused back on something on TV. It worked both nights. Hunger banished because of the healthy fat. I would have grabbed walnuts (so healthy) but I had already had some during breakfast both days. I’m so glad I did this two nights in a row as I know it has helped continue my weight loss. I knew, by the way, that I had already had sufficient calories, carbs, protein etc. or I would have eaten something more. My body was fighting the weight loss. We were in a bitter battle – I won this time.
03/12 -189.0- (Trend weight 191.9) What a good round this has been for me. 4.2 lbs down. Spent most of my time at home (minimal travel) so that always helps since my food choices are more controlled. One other thing..... my underwear are too big now. That’s all I have to add. I hope that gave someone a chuckle or put a smile on someone’s face today. It did mine! See ya’ll tomorrow at round 217.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

And CONGRATULATIONS on such a great round! 4.2 pounds down! Wonderful!4 -

@quiltingjaine BTW, I went ahead and lowered my goal-weight by 5 pounds. I figure, what the heck, it can't hurt to try.

3/10 - I'm here. I'm not counting this as a weigh-in day, since it's day 1 for me. I'm going to a Laker game tonight, so I don't expect a ton of progress. That being said, I'm going to try to be mindful as I eat tonight (we're going to get dinner before the game). I'm going to have one drink with dinner, and likely a beer at the game. I'm not sure how it sounds to anyone but me, but following through with this plan would qualify as "self-control" for me.
3/11 - 237.2 (-0.4), BF% = 32.8 (-0.1). So the Laker game was FANTASTIC. My wife and I stopped for dinner and drinks. I had 2.5 there (my goal was one), and a reasonable dinner (lobster/shrimp tacos). While at the game I had a relatively small sandwich, a small bag of chips, and one drink (a 12-year-old scotch, neat). This was a successful day for me. Staying even would have been a pleasant surprise, honestly, though I seem to remember that my weight would sometimes seem artificially lower the night after I have a bit to drink.
I will have another challenging night tonight, as my brother- and sister-in-law are coming over, and we're taking them out to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. I'm going to handle tonight by really UNDER-eating during the day today (not starving myself, but understanding that tonight is going to be a challenge). I'll try to be mindful tonight when I'm eating, and I'll try to limit my drinks (simple, lower-calorie drinks, and keep it down to 3 or 4 total). Damage-control. Stop eating when I am not hungry. Feeling okay leaving food on the plate. This is a work-in-progress, and the work is NEVER done.
I know that no one is going to beat me up for being absent for such a long time. If you missed me, know that I likely missed you more. Shame has always been a bit of an issue for me, one that has sometimes encouraged me to separate myself from situations when I start to feel it. For those of you who don't know, I'm a psychologist, and I know better. @quiltingjaine has (or at least had) my number, and she tried to contact me various times over the past couple of years (I saw 8 emails when I logged back on). What I am trying to say?
I would LOVE it if I could get a few people here (old friends and/or new ones) to help me stay accountable. When I'm "right," I'm posting here just about every day. If I'm struggling, my posting habits will be one of the first things you will notice that changes about me. I want to be healthy. I LOVE being a part of this group. If you're willing to help me out, please send me a message. I will respond with my phone number, and I'll ask that you STALK/HUNT/HOUND me if I ever stop showing up here.
Sorry for the insanely long post. Congrats if you were able to get through it
3/12 - 237.8 (+0.6), BF% 32.9 (+0.1). As expected, last night was a lot of good food, and some drinks. I'm going to own it. Went to get some PM dim sum with my wife, her brother, and his wife. Had two beers, a lychee martini, and (once I got home) 2 fingers or so of bourbon total. I almost skipped dessert... that was an opportunity that I missed. The saddest part of that is that I did not enjoy it that much. That's the thing with me. I will "autopilot" food like crazy. I try my best to enjoy dessert when it's something I really want. The other day I had milk chocolate-covered pretzels; I don't even like milk chocolate... or pretzels. I'm a work-in-progress. This is a marathon, not a sprint. I'm trying to shift my focus from losing weight to simply living a more healthy lifestyle.6 -
GIVE ME 10 DAYS – ROUND 216
Round 216
March 3 - 12, 2023
61 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).
Goal for 216. Have no idea! I guess to keep making progress, and maybe finally sort out and organize those supplements I should be taking. Thinking about it, I guess I could add trying to lose 3 more lb by March 25, when my DD, SIL, and DGS a joining us in the keys. Am likely facing swimsuit time, and losing 3 (or 4) would put me back at a similar weight to last April when they came for a week.
History:
Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, and a DGS. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Selling family home distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse. A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

SW: 138.0
Day/Weight/Comment
3/3 – 137.8 Today is going to be challenging. For starts, something happened to my toe last night when I went outside barefoot. Hurts to walk, so I took the morning off with the hopes that it will just resolve. I am not finding anything “in” my foot and examining, it seems to have to do with the nail bed. Then, on top of not exercising today, we are going out to eat (already tracked a tuna poke bowl), and then this evening we are going to the movies and I am planning in for movie popcorn, which I have not had in ages. If I watch myself, all this will work based on calories, despite the lack of exercise. BUT, I will not be shocked if I have a sodium blip tomorrow morning.
3/4 – 137.0 Pleasant surprise. Yesterday did not go as planned, but I adjusted along the way as things changed. At the out-to-eat, there was a gorgeous basket of old bay spiced string fries on the table. I ate half the basket. But I did that with a clear decision that I was trading that for the movie theater popcorn in the evening. Totally worth it!! The poke bowl contents also seemed lighter than the pre-tracked standard bowl, so I re-entered that meal by components, and yes, the bowl came in lower. That difference got me a Yasso bar later in the day, and got that craving out of the way. My numbers all appeared good, but I still prepared myself for the no-walk-estimated-tracking-lots-of-salt uptick. I’ve already pre-tracked today, and the thing that became clear is that I need to go grocery shopping. I am missing some dietary components (like fruit).
3/5 – 136.8 Did walk 5 miles yesterday, despite my foot not yet being right. And had a long day of cleaning up from having new windows installed last week and the home is a mess (plaster and cement dust everywhere). Ate on point. Happy with the loss but want to make sure my behavior is maintainable. I tend to over or under eat.
3/6 – 138.0 Heavy dose Advil will do this, so not surprised. Yesterday, did a typical 5 mile walk with friends (so pace is very reasonable). All was good, and then, without cause, my back started killing me. There is left thigh involvement too, so I know it is that bulging disk issue I have had from time to time. But there was literally no trigger (which I have also had before). Going to shift to Aleve today, as overnight I purposely am beyond the over 8 hr dosage for the Advil. Trying to decide whether to walk this morning or not. I can wait 30 minutes or so to decide.
3/7 – 137.2 So I did go out for my walk yesterday. Joined the girls for 5 miles. I wanted the calorie burn to help offset my going out to dinner and having a cocktail before. Today, I gave myself a gift of a relaxing morning and day. Do have a dinner guest this evening. The same windower we entertained a week or so ago. But I’ve planned and tracked my whole meal, and even the whole day.
3/8 – 136.4 I enjoyed having a slower lazy morning. Pre-tracked my day and held to it. Since no exercise, I aimed to stay under by goal daily calories. Seemed to work out. Today will be Taco Wednesday! Going to be trying out the La Banderita Carb Counter snack tortilla’s new flavor of Queso and Jalapeno. I use their “plain” carbcounter all the time. I love them. I’ve also recently discovered that Olé is competing now in the arena of low carb tortillas.
3/9 – 136.0 Enjoyed my tacos. I did under eat for the day. Not intentionally, I just ran out of things I was willing to eat, or was willing to take my Invisalign out to eat. All good. Scale is happy. Have pre-tracked today, as well as tomorrow and part of Saturday. Not planning on “eating under” multiple days. Tortilla report – Not sure there was a taste difference with the new flavor Queso and Jalapeno and they also seemed thinker to me (could be wrong), which I would not prefer. Will be trying the Olé next time I make tacos.
3/10 – 136.6 Calories were low/fine yesterday, so I was initially surprised by the uptick. Then, while out on my walk I remembered. I had pasta for dinner last night (4 oz dry) and I had forgotten all about how I had noticed years ago (in my WW days), that I always have a temporary gain. Because of that cause and effect, tracking helps me in that its data tells me to ignore the scale and that I am on track.
3/11 – 136.6 So, no drop back down after my pasta night. But, I have a dietary theory. Yesterday, I did the dessertfrotwo.com flourless chocolate cookies, and ate half a batch, which fortunately was a total of 4 (out of 8). So, another comparatively high carb day for me. Carbs retain fluid if I recall. (mind you I am in calorie deficit every day so an “up” is not due to total calories) So I looked at earlier days this week – Monday carb 27%, down .8 next day; Tuesday carb 36%, down .6 next day; Wedneday carb 43%, down .4 next day; Thursday carbs 57%, up .6 next day; Friday carbs 62%, net draw. Today, my carbs should end up basic boring normal, and I should stay in deficit. Sooooo, if my theory is correct, I will be down tomorrow. Let’s see. Oh, today is the Marathon Keys giant Seafood Festival. I will be having fried oysters and ceviche!!!
3/12 – 136.0 Ok, so for at least my body, my correlations make sense. Down two for this round, which is better than expected. TIME CHANGE argh, I think I am the only one showing up for my walking group.

Round 216 SW: 165.3 lbs
Round 216 EW: 165.1 lbs (-0.2)
3/3: 166.0 lbs
Achieved my goals for the day. I think I am regreting the decision to do the planking challenge!
3/4: 166.4 lbs
Achieved my goals for the day.
3/5: 167.5 lbs
I had a big blowout at a celebration yesterday. It felt good to relax and enjoy the moment. I am thinking about taking a diet break and eating at maintenance for a while. I think it might be useful to train myself for maintenance since I feel like I can either lose or gain but I am worried I will struggle to maintain.
3/6: 167.3 lbs
Achieved my goals for the day. I have decided to eat at maintenance during the first week of April.
3/7: 165.6 lbs
Achieved my goals for the day.
3/8: 165.6 lbs
Didn't exercise but did stay within calorie limit.
3/9: 165.3 lbs
So it took until today to get back to my starting weight for this round after my blowout on the weekend. I haven't exercised and nor have I done any planking but I did say within my calorie limit. I think I need to do at least some weight training before I do any planking.
3/10: 164.9 lbs
Exercised and stayed within my calorie limits.
3/11: 165.1 lbs
Exercised but ate within maintenance calorie limits. I could feel myself wanting to overeat so I decided to eat at maintenance to stop myself from going too far.
3/12: 165.1 lbs
Only a tiny loss this round but that's okay after my blowout at the beginning of this round. I am just happy I managed to get back to around my starting weight. It did show me how one blowout can affect my progress though.6 -
I am about 11 kg along the way to lose 32 kg. I use multiple tape measurements (cm) around my body because they aren't affected by salt intake. Apparently I've been trying to lose weight since September 2012, the last time I was at goal weight. Let's see if stopping eating sugary food is going to change things.
Heaviest ever 1st Jan 2021, goal+31.8 kg
Round 215 808 cm
Here are my measurements, bolded means a loss of 0.5 cm, and the number is used to sum the total measurement
100.0 90.0 101.5 57.5 48.0 56.0 48.0 100.0 93.0 103.0 4th

This round was relatively easy, as I ate a bit in the previous round. Let's see if I can continue losing.
Total is 802.5 cm, a loss from the previous round

3/12 DNW TRAVELING. Day 3 of baseball is an away game. Ate out at a local pub last night. Half a grilled chicken burger and all of the nummy house chips! Got in my steps. Leftover burger and coleslaw for breakfast. Gotta work hard at steps today as we have 1 less hour to do so lol. Have not weighed and unable to till Wednesday morning. I notice that today is last day of this round. I feel summer heat bloated but content. Tonights dinner out was penne chicken piccata and a side caesar salad. Only ate less then half.
I have been reading all the struggles and insights and adore you all for putting your hearts out there! It helps. It really does. PS- I miss my rebounder....4 -

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Started these 10 day challenges!! Genius!!! So achievable!! With always a chance of redemption, right around the corner!
@clprieur As @deepwoodslady said, I am not the genius but maybe just dedicated. I joined in Round 6 or 7. @GrandmaJackie did it for years and then a few of us filled in periodically @TerriRichardson112 and @musicsax. But I do thank you for giving me credit. 😘 As I have said before, I keep it going for myself but love that EVERYONE is here with me.

3/3 216.9 (-0.0/-0.0) and holding after 5 days of downtrend. I am good with that! We were supposed to get 8 to 10 inches of snow in the next 24 hours. I was ready to be shut in....now it seems we might get a dusting! WOW!
3/4 DNW (-0.0/-0.0) I was good all day until the snack fairy arrived along with her friend Bad Decision Maker....lots of salt and not enough water, the scale would NOT be friendly - so I'm not going to look at it!
3/5 218.8 (+1.9/+1.9) Faced the scale this morning. A couple of days needed to reverse this trend then downward spiral again, would be nice. I need to get meals planned for the week....definitely the key to success!
3/6 218.2 (-0.6/+1.3) I really dislike losing the same pounds over and over again. But, whose fault is it anyway? Good News - It's Monday and my projection says that I should see 215 ish later in this round..... Got back on the treadmill this morning...slow but got it done! Water, Water everywhere....now just drink it!!!
3/7 218.6 (+0.4/+1.7) I came home and made this super healthy meal consisting of whole wheat pasta (not a lot), artichoke hearts, spinach and tuna. It was ok. My thoughts on super healthy meals - you really don't want seconds🙂 But at the end of the evening, I felt myself looking for something for a snack. I found a couple of cookies😉 So a half a pound is explained.
3/8 219 (+0.4/+2.1) Came home to dinner that my husband cooked. He NEVER cooks. Maybe that "healthy" meal inspired him. He made a turkey meatloaf (it was really good) with mashed potatoes, soup and a salad. Normally I'd pass on the mashed and soup but I couldn't disappoint his efforts. Another half a pound.
3/9 220 (+1.0/+3.1) Not the right direction but yesterday was a food day. Went to a fashion show where there was lots of wine and food (lunch). Didn't plan dinner so had leftovers from my husband's meal that he prepared. Rough week and totally off plan. Think I'm resetting to day 1. I'm making something with chicken breast today. Friday - no idea. Saturday we are going to take a tour of Wrigley Field and then go out to lunch....so that brings me to Sunday - Reset
3/10 219 (-1.0/+2.1) Skipped the chicken, had a craving for ribs so prepared in the instant pot. Today will get some sort of fish. Resetting on Sunday.
3/11 218.9 (-0.1/+2.0)
3/12 219.5 (+0.6/+2.6) Well, I'm glad this round is over

Previous posts:
3/3: 220.6
/logged all; lots of slow walking/ Ok, so my walking was at Bass Pro Shops. It was actually more brain exercise than anything.
Today is a day of eating out. Lunch with a friend at Cracker Barrel; Supper with a few “alumni” from a firm I used to work for 25 years ago (an adult beverage may be consumed.); Followed by a euchre get together with another set of friends. No adult beverages, but plenty of trash to eat and some possible sleep deprivation.
And the whole day is stacking up to be “introvert behavior” deprivation. That will wear me out. HA!

/logged most; walked at gym/ Still a lot of water retention from recovery and from salt. And… some lack of progress due to a general lack of commitment. I wonder if I can finish this round strong? Come on Jeff, have a little self-respect!
Pity party done. No hugs please.
