15 pounds to lose challenge- Feb. 1, 2023-April 30, 2023

Last week I increased my daily calorie goal by 300 but stopped deducting my exercise calories. My average calorie burn through intentional exercise has been staying around 300 calories per day. I also started looking at my average calories for the week instead of looking at each day individually. I noticed over the weekend that I was not obsessing all day about what I was going to eat the way I was when I was deducting my exercise.
I'm back to enjoying this journey once again!7 -

Yay for losing the cast! The boot will be so much better but you may need a scooter as they may not let you put pressure on it still for awhile. Are they talking about any physical therapy for you?5 -

My name is Mary, 65 from Pennsylvania.
Been MIA for a few months but still logging in everyday since I started MFP 5/14/21. Trying to get back into the swing of posting on my threads I've been in for awhile. 668 continuous days now today in a row since I started MFP.
Unfortunately lost my mojo and gained a lot back but not all Thank God! Need to get back on track and focused. I bought a NEW to me, gently used, Commercial PreCor EFX 835 Elliptical. It was delivered the beginning of November, as others here know I wore my previous 10+ year old one out from my extensive workouts. Back up to 150 minutes on my 3 days off per week.
Good to see some familiar names here and glad to see some new ones too!
Heaviest weight 255 lbs, twice. :-(
9/14/20-255 lbs
5/14/21-232.2 lbs
4/6/22- 147.6 lbs (107.4 lbs lost) I did NOT have a surgery. Did Keto.
8/1/22- 167.2 lbs
12/1/22-198 lbs
1/1/23- 213.4 lbs
2/1/23- 207.4 lbs
2/5/23- 207.8 lbs
2/12/23- 206.4 lbs Elliptical Interval setting 150 minutes Fri, Sat & Sun for 9.89-10 miles.
2/19/23- 201.8 lbs Elliptical Interval setting 150 minutes Thur-9.98miles , Fri-9.91 miles & Sun-10.0 miles.
2/21/22- 202 lbs Elliptical Interval (HIIT) setting first session 124 minutes for 8.14 miles, zone 3. The had to babysit for about 2 hours, then the second session Interval setting again 56 minutes for 3.75 miles, zone 3= 180 minutes, 11.89 miles.
2/26/23- 202.6 lbs Elliptical HIIT setting Fri, Sat & Sun, 150 minutes 9.89 miles -10.12 miles. So 40+ miles this week, since I took an extra day off on Friday. Waiting for the scale to show my efforts. :-(
3/1/23- 201 lbs Yippee!!!! January down 6 lbs, February down 6.4 lbs!!!
3/5/23- 200 lbs Elliptical Thurs, Fri & Sun 150 minutes for just over 10 miles each session. Finally glad to see a drop. I was hoping for Onederland though. Oh well, it's inevitable. Can't complain about 7.4 lbs since 2/1, in 4 1/2 weeks.
3/12-23- 205 lbs. Too many carbs lately. Elliptical HIIT setting on Friday & today (Babysitting on Sat) 150 minutes each day, just over 10 miles each day.
3/19/23- 206 lbs. Having a hard time eating less carbs, like before. Elliptical HIIT interval setting for 150 minutes on Thursday, Friday & today (my off work days) for 10+ miles each session.
3/26/23- 210 lbs :-( Elliptical HIIT setting only Friday and Sunday (too many errands & a hair appointment on Saturday) 150 minutes for 10+ miles each day.
4/1/23- 207.6 lbs.
4/2/23- 209 lbs. I need to get my head right and be more accountable to myself in this. I need to get back in control and off the carbs again. Back to my lower level of daily carbs(15g net +/- 3) and FOCUSED on what is best for me! Not short term enjoyment. Elliptical HIIT setting 150 minutes for 10.11 miles today (I do my elliptical like this 3x per week, on my off work days pretty religiously. Thursday, Friday & Sunday this week).
4/4/23- 204.8 lbs
4/5/23- 204.8 lbs Not my usual check in day but hopefully getting myself back on track, FINALLY!!! Was on track Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with my low carbs and it shows! Today I'm on track too!
4/9/23- 203.6 lbs Elliptical HIIT setting 150 minutes for 10.04 miles zones 2, 3 & 4.(Also same elliptical time on Friday & Saturday too). Meat & low carb veggies for Easter lunch today but I had a piece of a Dominican Pineapple cake. OMG! Not rich and a whipped cream icing but moist as a Rum cake. So delicious! Worth the calories & Carbs IMO.
4/16/23- 211.2 lbs
4/17/23- 214.8 lbs
4/18/23- 214.8 lbs. Leave for Oklahoma City tomorrow. Will be checking in and logging ad best as I can but not weighing. They don't have a scale. At least not last year.

I got my cast off and I'm doing ok. My leg and ankle are swollen and I'll do physical therapy which will help. I am so looking forward to going for a walk around the block or at the park. I have been walking very carefully because I don't want to reinjure myself.
I only lost a few pounds after the cast was removed. It seemed like it weighed 10 pounds but it was probably only 2-3 pounds.
One more week until our challenge is over.
Great posts!! You motivate me to do better!

A (health-wise) turbulent month is over. Gained back 6 pounds and am back to my January plateau point. Now looking forward to the next challenge and restart the weight loss journey. Slow and steady wins in the long term
Best wishes to everyone in their efforts!7 -
Quick peek before heading to the canyon with the neighbor’s terrier Dilli, she is a great walker and by herself we should have a good workout.
For our newly remodeled bathroom, I had to shop online for coral colored bathroom rugs and of course a few extra goods for myself.

I’m regretting last month’s eating and exercise habits and upcoming blood work.
Will talk to the doctor about giving me 2-3 weeks to turn the unhealthy trend around.
Thinking of you

I heard a story on the news yesterday about a weight loss injection about to hit the market called Tirzepatide. Eli Lilly, the manufacturer, is trying to fast track it with the FDA. People on this loss about 20% of their body weight. It is predicted that this will become the MOST prescribed and used medicine in the world and will be a game changer for weight loss.
I am on Wegovy which may or may not be the same thing; mine is already FDA approved and available. I finished my first month and am down 8 lbs with no side effects. I have just moved up to the next dose. You do 4 of each amount as it builds up in your system. So far so good. HOWEVER this is a very expensive drug and I cannot stay on it forever due to the cost. I talked to my Dr about this and she said some of her patients, once they hit their goals, have successfully weaned off it without regaining the weight. She did not recommend just stopping it even though it won't harm you, you may regain the weight. I really do hope with some competition, these medicines will become affordable to all. Obesity has such serious medical implications that one would THINK insurance companies would offer coverage to prevent the other costly issues one can develop from being heavy.4 -

Whew, finally a little whoosh this week.
Hello 150's!! Nice to see you again. It's been around 15 years since we last met.
Met my goal to be under 160 by the end of April. I've been in the 160's since mid-December so it felt like it took forever. And....(drumroll) I have officially lost 70 lbs!
I want to lose at least another 15. Maybe more but I'll wait to decide my final goal after I see my doctor again in a few months.
Have a great week everyone! Hope to see you all again for the next round of this challenge.
Revised Challenge Goal: 5 lbs (159.7)
Challenge Actual: 5.1 (159.6)
