Forgot to bring my jacket and had to run a 5K in short sleeves. Quite surprised how big my arms look in this finish photo! The "Winter of Curls" is paying off!

I have been doing that as well now since December - by default. The elevator is broken. When it's finally fixed I may take it a time or two to enjoy having the elevator again, but most likely will still take the stairs. The office is only on the 3rd floor
That's great! My lab is on the 3rd floor as well. I figured it gets my steps and flights in for the day and I'm actually seeing that I'm less fatigued by taking them the more I climb them!8 -

I have been also and i'm on the 4th floor.
That's awesome, Sherry! My lab is on the 3rd floor, so it's not bad at all!4 -
I’m able to cross my legs again! Was sitting in the neighbours garden chatting away. Next thing I realise I’ve crossed my legs.
It’s the little things that mean so much23 -
Didn't expect it but hubby said 'your jeans are getting baggy'. Someone noticed.26

Stayed within my calorie targets with sixteen hours of road-tripping over the weekend!19

My 23yr old son talked me into committing to a routine and going to the gym with him at 5:45am. My son has since, moved, and I miss him dearly and thought I would slack knowing he's not there to push me, but 5months later, I am no longer trying to talk myself out of skipping the gym, and go 3x a week, and walk for 45mins/1hr on alternate days.32

Today I wore skinny jeans over my gym leggings. These used to be my goal jeans. Now, even over leggings, they were only tight in the calves where I've gained muscle.31

High knees are high!!! I was so happy when my hip flexors weren't hurting when stepping out of the shower and lifting a legs to dry off. Sounds dumb but those hip flexor suffered during my pregnancy and now I can get off the floor without pushing off of my leg. I just pop right up. I'd like to thank mountain climbers and plank jacks (it's a love hate lol)19

I no longer have a waist bulge over my pants. That was *really* bothering me and now that it’s gone, I can bend over more easily (without feeling that bulge enlarge), I can sit on a bench without worrying about what my waist must look like from behind. Yeah I know nobody probably notices but I was self-conscious anyway & it’s just so liberating to no longer concern myself with it.17

#1 Needing a belt - and #2 then having to have my husband punch an extra hole - #3 needing new underwear as everything is baggy (even with adjusting the bras) - #4 people are starting to tell me that I've lost enough!!!18

I am having to buy a whole new wardrobe for spring/summer this year. For the last 2 years I have been able to go down through the various sizes I already had in my closet. With some exceptions for seasonal differences, I haven't had to buy a whole lot until now. Last month when I decided to try on my last summer's clothes I quickly realized there was absolutely nothing I had that wasn't too big! Best feeling ever! However, I am spending a lot of money right now replacing those clothes.20

My favorite NSV so far is comfortably sitting with my legs crossed at the knees..... all the time now.17

My NSV is that I’m back, as of May 1. After less than a week, I already feel more energetic and less bloated. Pre-COVID I had lost 63 lb here, eating right, logging, and exercising. Then COVID hit, and my beloved uncle and aunt died, and my father-in-law died, and my husband and I both got COVID twice, and my dad died suddenly, and I had a bad medication reaction and went completely deaf in one ear. And I’m a stress eater, so guess what? I put all 63 lb back on and then some. But last weekend I decided I was done wallowing in sorrow and stress, and it’s time for me to take care of myself, or else I’m headed for a stroke or heart failure. No one else is going to take of me, and I deserve as much care as I’m giving to others.
Thanks to every single one of you who’s posted on this thread. Your stories lift my spirits and remind me that the struggle to get healthy will be worth every minute spent. You are heroes to me.32 -

Having hip flexors (psoas muscles) that work is a huge step towards getting your fitness back!! After 3 years of sciatic issues which led to periformis issues which then led to seized up hip flexors I can't wait to have your joy. I've taken care of the first 2 issues and currently working on the hip flexors. I find if I sit for days at a time it's a step backwards. I'm currently researching every exercise that can possibly help loosen them up. I have bad knees so getting up off the ground is brutal at the best of times. Here's to being able to "just popping right up"...

1. I can now fit into a pair of jeans that I couldn't pull past my thighs a few months ago.
2. I just tried on 5 old jackets and they all fit beautifully
3. I feel fitter and stronger and I'm putting way more power behind my punches at my boxing fitness class16 -
I have a few today:
1.) I just hit 800 consecutive days on MFP, so I took a trip down memory lane. I've been in maintenance since October 2021, and I haven't sized out of my range since then. Right now I'm up a couple of pounds, but still in range. The next NSV is that I'm already making the adjustment to drop those few pounds. I originally gained weight by ignoring "just a couple of pounds" until I had forty to lose. So my goal these days is to not do that again.
2.) It's been a stressful week, so today I did a "playday" in the gym---no workout plan, no counting, no goals except to move and have fun. The NSV is that I really DID have fun, AND I got in a good workout without being grim about it. JudgyWatch was very happy.
3.) I can now hang from the monkey bars and do knee crunches! When I started I couldn't hang at ALL much less DO anything from there. Today I did seven crunches total. My long term goal is to be able to hang and touch my hands with my feet. I saw a kid doing that today, and it looked SO cool!!18 -
Oh, I thought of one more: I ate microgreens!! Me, a confirmed anti-veggie person, ate MICROGREENS and LIKED them!! My neighbor grows them to sell, and he gave me a bunch. I only accepted them to be nice, but I felt obligated to at least TRY them. So I googled some recipes. I made a banana smoothie that tasted pretty good (as long as I didn't think too hard about the green stuff inside). I also garnished a few dishes with sprigs. Funny how things work. My neighbor just introduced me to a great way to up my nutrients. Yay! Old me would never have tried a health food like this. Much less liked it. This journey has changed me so much.15

Ten years ago, I couldn't run 500 yards without gasping for breath; yesterday, I ran 10 miles. I've had many starts and stops along the way, but that 10 miles serves as a testament to my dedication to myself and is a NSV I achieved on my own terms.29

I can cross my legs comfortably!

I have returned to MFP after a hellish last year: Death of my mom, two acquaintances, my ex-husband and my boyfriend of 14 years.
I am taking my time and meeting myself where I am. So far that means 1x12 wall push-ups, logging my food and not drinking sugary water enhancers.
Purchased a ticket to see P!nk in Indianapolis this November. Looking forward to getting out of North Carolina.32 -
Since hip surgery on November 30th, I've continued to hit may step marks both daily and weekly.
Last week I did some light lifting and today I pushed it. I was able to do various exercises but most proud of the kettlebells I was able to do.
I did 3 sets of single arm and 3 double arm lifts and 3 sets of kb squats.
I feel great and no pain. Yet anyway, we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Best of luck y'all.13 -
It is too bad that I’ve got just the opposite of NSV. There is a weight loss by scale but not the body size. Visceral fat figure is still the same though there is 5 lbs of weight loss. I understand that it is due to mainly muscle loss rather than fat. But this is inevitable as we can’t control which part of the body component we want to loss. So my goal is to reach an ideal body fat percentage before focusing in muscle building.4

If the scale went down but fat% stayed the same, you still lost fat, though I'm not sure how you are measuring fat or visceral fat. If your weight went from, say, 155 to 150 pounds but stayed at 22% body fat, you lost over a pound of fat. The bioelectrical impedance analysis on home scales is notoriously inaccurate, but it can still show trends. I have one of these scales. The number on the scale can vary as much as 1% between any two days, and I get on the scale every day. Don't stress it; keep working on your goals.
You might also consider getting a tailor's tape and take measurements every month or two; that's another way to show your progress.8 -
Started back with MFP May 1, and just 12 days in, I've already been able to quit taking heartburn medication--and I can sleep with just one pillow now. Small things, but nice to have a quick win.18

Hubby and I walked a 5k today. Someday I hope to run one, but today was a great start! I had ordered a large tshirt, but Hubby encouraged me to ask for a medium...and it FITS!!
