Camping! I've been hovering around forty pounds lost for a while, as life runs me through a wringer (and then another one...) but I can camp often now because I can get in and out of my tent. It's great bc I love it, my kids love it, my roommate left home to have some peace and quiet loves it...and it's inexpensive, as these life-wringers are NOT.21

I ordered a lunch that I usually get but hadn't had for a couple of months. I was really hungry. I ate half of it and was full and I stopped. I usually finish the portion either because I am hungrier or just because the food is in front of me. I'm happy that my appetite is slowly decreasing and/or I recognize my hunger cues better.23

I’ve been at the cottage this week and this is the first time in my life I’ve felt fine going to the beach without a shirt on. I don’t look like a Greek god or anything but to feel like I fit in is amazing.24

I've been feeling lighter and fitter these past couple days, and happier, and far more optimistic. Life isn't dreadful anymore: I wake up easily and get out of bed easily, I get dressed quickly rather than having to struggle to get into my clothes; I feel less squished into my car seat & seatbelt; I feel light and free. I still have 100+ lbs to lose but it feels like an inevitable thing now rather than an impossible one.
Also, my neighbors are suddenly friendly to me. I don't know if it's my changed attitude or if they're subconsciously picking up on my weight loss, but suddenly people who never gave me the time of day before are waving and starting conversations with me.22 -
I was on holiday for 2 weeks - and I did not also put on at least 2 pounds (fat/water whatever) as usual, and was curious not avoidant about getting back on the scales.
I broadly ate at ‘luxurious maintenance’ (!), did lots of exercise, and a week later so far the average weight line has stayed static.22 -
My wedding ring still doesn't fit from after having my baby 3 months ago. But the replacement rings that I wear just to fidget with are becoming very loose! To the point that I need to "fix" them several times a day because they turn on their own.
And a few days ago I tried on a pair of shorts that I had bought with the goal of fitting into them. When I got home from the hospital, I could only get them halfway up my thighs. I slipped them on and buttoned them without even having to suck it in!24 -
The best thing about having lost 15kg is the look in my husband’s eyes. I feel genuinely pretty when he looks at me like that.28

I played ping-pong yesterday for the first time in I don't even remember how many years. Had a blast.
My rings are getting too big. Not sure that's 100% a victory as I love to wear my rings, but yeah I'll take it
For the first time in decades, my PMS is not derailing my weight loss progress. Tracking/pre-planning all of my food has allowed me to be certain that I'm "doing everything right," and to stick with my plan even though the numbers on the scale went up for a bit. I knew there was no way I had gained 4 lbs overweight while eating the same amount of calories/sodium/etc., so I could avoid the usual "oh I screwed up again, might as well give up entirely" nonsense.20 -

Weighing every day for two years as I lost weight gave me the data I needed. Now when I get up in the morning in the third week of the month and suddenly weigh three pounds more than yesterday, I know exactly what's going on. Often that's the first PMS symptom I have.9 -
Had a small NSV this weekend that I wanted to share… my husband and I were going to see a movie, and were in a hurry to grab dinner on the way. The restaurant we had chosen was too busy, so we had to punt and just drive through Burger King 😳. I quickly googled what some lower calorie options there were, and got a whopper Junior without cheese or mayo. No fries and water to drink. AND we didn’t get popcorn at the theatre! That felt like a huge win to me!

We had a coached row (yes, boats) yesterday, a mix of a couple strong collegiate rowers (men) prepping to race Canadian Henley, with a bunch of us from the rowing club next door (7 of us, in a quad, double, and single) who are varying levels of intermediate skill. I was in the quad in bow (bow steers, and calls needed commands to the boat).
I've developed a casual friendly joking relationship with one of the college guys (all proper granny-esque!), and somehow there was friendly banter on the water after we all did a 2k race-pace piece, about how he was rowing at around 32 strokes per minute and - in a boat where three of us were over 60 - we were at about 25 spm.
Back on shore, I told him I was going to come back as a ghost when he's 67, see how he's doing on his 2k race spm then.
He asked how old I was when I started rowing. "46, 47? and just recently finished chemo." OK. Then, afterthought, "I was obese at the time, and stayed that way for another 10 years". Complete deadpan from him: "I don't believe you." (He's only met thin me. And it's not the first time I've gotten this reaction from someone.)
Those of you worried that you'll have visible masses of loose skin after weight loss . . . give it time. You, too, may develop a stealth-mode formerly obese shape.30 -

Keep the rings, and when you get to goal weight, treat yourself to get them resized! You can't do it too many times, so just wait until you're ready.

Will do! They're all fashion jewelry so it's not the end of the world if they don't fit anymore. I can always wear them on my thumbs like I did when I was a teenager5 -
Smaller clothes in my closet are starting to fit me again.22

I went to a theme park with my grandson and went on rides without worrying I wouldn't fit and suffer the embarrassment of being asked to not ride. I had such fun!! I did want to puke a little near the end but I held it together for my grandson!!!24

I kinda look like a stuffed sausage, but I fit into the smallest jeans I had in my closet. A full 8 sizes smaller than where I started the year.34

My doctor's office has a big note on my file that my BMI is in the 45-49.9 range (I actually registered just above 50 at my highest, but they don't know that.)
Well as of this morning my BMI is 44.9 and I look forward to getting that updated next time I go in
Another 30 lbs to go and I will drop into the under-40 BMI range. I expect to get there around early November.34 -
July 25: Eight years ago today, I created my MFP account and started logging food.
The next day, July 26, I posted my intro in the Community.
I've logged in every day since, and logged my food/exercise the overwhelming majority of days (but not all).
I guess the next is a scale victory: Since my initial loss from class 1 obese to a healthy weight, I've stayed in a healthy weight range. I admit there have been some mild ups and downs, but all in the same jeans size.
My formerly high cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure have been solidly in the normal/healthy range since about halfway through weight loss.
Feels like a win 😊 . . . so far, anyway. 😉42 -

There was an evacuation exercise today at work. When it was time to reenter the building, the queues for the elevators were terribly long, so my colleagues and I took the stairs. We climbed 17 stories and my heart rate was only around 100 at the end!32

One colleague today asked me if I had lost weight yaaay! Lol.
That comes after I'd spent 10 minutes looking at face pictures from two months ago and from today, doubting that there was any difference, wondering if what I'm doing is working (I don't weigh myself. Scared of the number I might see).
My colleague's question is encouraging and I claim it as a NSV.22 -
