I need to talk to my parents about end-of-life plans (particularly funeral arrangements) and I'm not sure how to go about it. I do somewhat trust that they are capable of deciding when they need assisted living but should probably offer help in finding out what sort of place would be best BEFORE it actually becomes necessary.
14. Just for fun: Start sketching dragon on a pile of books, offering one to the armored knight, & banner that reads "Treasure should not be hoarded / It should be shared." Use AI for ideas.

Didn't do well yesterday. The appointment was very painful and unpleasant. Then the nurse told me that instead of the normal 3 week wait for results it's taking 3 months. So I'll have that niggling worry for the next 3 months (I am high risk for a particular cancer and am checked every year). When I came out I went to a local garden centre for a pot of tea, ended up making bad food choices. It's so easy to "forget to be good".

Had a great time with my bestie last weekend. She had come up to WV from SC to visit and do a triathlon in Columbus OH. Friday evening we went for a long walk then to dinner where we shut down the restaurant talking about life. Things had kind of fallen apart for her in the previous week, but she seemed ok. Then Sunday I drove up to Columbus to cheer her on at her triathlon. It was a beautiful day. We came back to WV and again went out to dinner this time my hubby came along (they have know each other since kindergarten). She left the next day and I texted her to make sure she made it home safely. She did. Wednesday my friend Jason said she was acting weird and called to see if she had reached out. She had not so I texted her. No response, but that isn't terribly uncommon for her, but I was worried. This morning I texted Jason and asked if I should go down this weekend to check on her. About 15 minutes later Jason called me. I figured we were going to discuss me going down this weekend, instead he was calling to tell me she took her own life.
We can't always know what people are thinking, but we can do our best to be there for them. I did my best and it wasn't enough this time. My oldest daughter is named for this friend. I love her dearly, still. She has 2 son's 15 & 19, and no other family. Her ex-husband is helping the oldest navigate the horrible reality. Please say a prayer for them and give me the ability to help them in any way I can.5 -

About 15 minutes later Jason called me. I figured we were going to discuss me going down this weekend, instead he was calling to tell me she took her own life.
We can't always know what people are thinking, but we can do our best to be there for them. I did my best and it wasn't enough this time. My oldest daughter is named for this friend. I love her dearly, still. She has 2 son's 15 & 19, and no other family. Her ex-husband is helping the oldest navigate the horrible reality. Please say a prayer for them and give me the ability to help them in any way I can.
I am so truly sorry for your loss. I have you and her family in my prayers.0 -
