Need some help

I have been on my weight loss journey since January. I have lost about 45lbs this year but this last month I have been stuck. I haven't gained which is good but haven't lost any. Looking for some motivation and some accountability. Any help will be great! Was hoping to lose 100lbs this year.

    Hi there,
So you lost 45lbs since the end of July? Then that's still 6.4lbs per month overall and a very nice rate. First of all, congratulate yourself for that!

    * Do you feel comfortable sharing your stats? Maybe you've lost so much weight that it's not possible anymore to lose at the rate as before.

    * Have you been sick? This could lead to your body storing more water temporarily. And how often do you weight anyway?

    * A weight trending app like Libra or Happy Scale might be a good idea. Even if you have the feeling that nothing happens it will show trends.

    * did anything else change? Travel? New exercise?

    * do you weight all your food on a kitchen scale? If not then this might be the moment to start to figure out what's going on. Portion creep might have crept in and you're not in a deficit anymore.

So I started this diet January 1 at a weight of 364lbs. I weigh myself once a week on Saturday morning, so just weighed and I was 317.6 this morning. I am a 36 y/o male. I do have a food scale and was weighing my food early one but most of the things I eat are repetitive I have stopped using it because I can get pretty close.
The one thing that has changed is that I am exercising less. I live in Texas and early on in the year had been doing an afternoon walk in my neighborhood but now that it is 105 degrees in the afternoon I have stopped walking.
My line of work is physical as I do track maintenance for the railroad. So I usually count that as my workout for the day.
I was sick at the end of June with strep and that is pretty much where the stall happened.

    I hope this helps.

That would explain the stall. Give it some time if you're back to work.

Oh my goodness, you've ROCKED 2023!! That's fantastic!!

A few things that help people (in general) with plateaus:
    • Dial up your workouts to 110% and/or change up the type of exercise you do (if you can do that safely indoors with the heat). This may have to wait until the summer cools down. Staying safe is more important right now!
    • Eat back at least half of your exercise calories (if the plateau continues after you can get back to regular workouts). When we stay in a large deficit for too long, sometimes our bodies freak out, so people actually start losing more weight by eating a little more in this situation.
    • Eat some breakfast, even if it's just a few bites. This fires up your metabolism early in the day and decreases insulin resistance.
    • Patience (my least favorite). It'll pass eventually.

You've had amazing success!! Congratulations! Don't be too hard on yourself if things have slowed down. Work on maintenance and hydration for now. You'll need to learn how to maintain in the future eventually when you reach your goals, so consider it practice for your future success!
