Heading back to work tomorrow so I hope the stress of it all doesn't derail me.1 -

Visited some nice local wineries yesterday with my wife and our 2 friends. This was the ultimate test and I didn't have a drop! I got this!!!!!!!!!9 -
Freaking weekends...still hitting my goal by day but the # on the weekends needs to go down.

Sun 8/20: Drinks (2) - We had a great time with our friends who were visiting over the weekend. I had more discipline with food and drink than I usually do when we're all together. The weather was great so we hung out on the beach both Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, DH and I spent all day driving (over 14 hours) from VA to FL. Other than the Whopper Jr. and fries, we mostly ate healthy food that I had packed (boiled eggs, leftover meatloaf, Hippeas, popcorn, bananas, berries, chips and hummus). I had a couple glasses of wine at 1 a.m. Monday morning.
Mon 8/21: Home again, home again, jiggity-jig! We're in Florida! Roof work has begun (BANG, BANG, BANG! … all day). Poor Sport, the kitty, has been hiding all day. We will be taking her to kitty day care the rest of this week. Drinks planned Thursday and Saturday this week.

@ahoy_m8 Thinking of you missing your mom. I'm so sorry and can empathize with your pain. I lost my mom in October 2020 but it still feels more recent. And today would have been my MIL's 94th birthday. She died mid-June. She had four boys and considered me a daughter. I've known her since I was 17. She absolutely was my other mother.6

I have a family wedding this Saturday. I plan to not drink at this event because I don't want to poison my body...
The pressure will be applied to conform to the drinking community alcohol addiction but what they don't know is I'm strong willed and don't give a rat's *kitten* what other people think of me not drinking...
I will drink when I want not when others want me to.

Mon 8/21: Drinks (2)
Tue 8/22: Yesterday was nerve-racking with all the loud banging on the roof. We took our fur baby to kitty day care this morning and will for the rest of the week (we need it too, ha!). Last night I had a beer before dinner and a glass of wine with dinner. The plan was zero. Why am I not sticking to plan (UGH!)?!? I need to regroup.

Aww. Very sweet reflections on your MIL and many thanks for the kind thoughts. We honored her in several ways I think she would have liked, so that is a comfort. Honestly, the heat (over 105F day after day after day) is a beat down. I think it's a version of SAD people in northern latitudes can get. August has always been kind of tough, long before mom died. I have several home repair projects going badly, and that is also a beat down. Grateful to have a partner in crime. Sometimes we just look at each other and laugh at it all. It's good to have a laugh.
I'm not doing great with any of my goals in any category, including food & bev. I'm eating at maintenance calories, my weight has crept up toward the higher end of maintenance range, and I'm ok with that. Don't have the energy to course correct. As usual, I've been doing ok with Su/M-Th AF but veer towards IDGAF on weekends. Also as usual I'm doing ok with cardio but blow off strength training. Trying to take it one day at a time.5 -

Yesterday, I put away a ridiculous amount of mezcal. Today was AF. I think that makes it 4 AF, 3 LA, 15 A. I'm managing to keep my weight under 180, which is nice. I have a freezer full of healthy dishes ready to go into the sous vide, and a couple more in the works. Today, I started some tandoori chicken marinating, I'll pack them up so I can start them in the sous vide and finish them in the air fryer or on the grill. Tomorrow or so, I'm going to try to throw together a batch of saag aloo.
I still haven't gotten around to the things I had planned to do last week, which is slightly annoying. I need to try and get on top of that so I can get to it on a day off and see how it goes. I've done more reading on the subject, and I'm curious to see if it's as helpful for me as it has been for others.
Chilling out alone in the dark now with a hop water and some shoegaze before I wrap up for the night.
