I love reading these updates!!! Keep up the good work everyone.
I'm noticing that everything is so much easier now. Standing up from my bed, chairs, car seats, the floor... bending down to pick things up... cleaning... carrying stuff... walking... I'm no longer exhausted all the time. I can feel a huge difference even compared to July and August, when I had already started losing weight and my clothes were fitting better, but exercise and just regular moving-around were still quite the chore. This is incredibly rewarding, especially knowing that it's only going to get better.16 -
When I look front on through my laptops webcam, there's no double chin :-D8

Was going to order a chai latte from McDonalds, but for the calories, decided I would enjoy a mcflurry much more7

Had a Hersheys pie today and gave my dad half! (it was too sweet and I wanted less calories)2

I'm an emotional eater, and when I wanted to stress eat yesterday I made myself a chicken ceasar salad instead of reaching for a bag of chips!23

I volunteered at registration and ticketing for an outdoor event this weekend that involved walking up a hill to see the penultimate event. It didn’t look like that big a deal to me, but I fielded complaints about “such a hard climb” all weekend, I was soundly chewed out several times because the guy with the tractor giving people hayrides up couldn’t keep up with the number of people wanting to ride rather than walk.
We even had people demanding that staff place haybales along the way so they could rest.
When I finally had to walk up there myself, it wasn’t difficult at all. It took all of ten minutes, and that was even stopping and taking photos along the way for their Facebook page.
I had thought maybe there was a bigger hill over the crest that I couldn’t see from ticketing, but no, it was just a hill, and not even a big one.
I didn’t even break a sweat or get out of breath.

Well, I just ran errands in my neighbourhood, and it was exhausting, probably due to lack of sleep and a missed medication dose last night. So obviously that’s not the NSV.
But I stopped in at the local patisserie and got a sort of phyllo topped with tomato, basil, etc., thing, took a small bite, and went on my way (it’s now in my fridge). I also visited the locally owned sandwich/soup shop and got a large turkey sub to go. Came home, ate half of it in my typically mindless way (so, also not part of the NSV) along with a cup of bean salad, and now . . .I am much too full, uncomfortably so. If I had paid attention, I would have had a quarter or a third of the sandwich, had half the amount of salad, and been satisfied. I even weighed it before eating but didn’t take the hint that I didn’t need 280 grams of this giant sandwich. (And yes, the other half is in the fridge too.)
I consider this a win because I learned something from it that I’ll remember next time. It’s like when I made the mistake of taking out the trash three weeks after open-heart surgery years ago. That was a lesson I didn’t forget, either.18 -
This might be TMI, but I find it very interesting so I thought I'd share: since I changed my diet back in June, my clothes no longer get smelly, and I can now wear them longer between washings. And that's WITH increased exercise levels!16

To me, this is one of the key building blocks of successful weight management: When something happens that isn't a great contributor to one's goals, just analyze it, learn from it, revise plans in a better direction, and go on. Angst about it burns zero extra calories.

We had a coffee morning at work today, lots of homemade sweet treats to tempt me. I had calories set aside for this, had a medium sized slice of lemon drizzle cake and a cup of tea and that’s it.
I enjoyed my cake and had a lovely time chatting to the other attendees. Then carried on with my day. Didn’t constantly nip back and didn’t eat anything else from there. Are my lunch which I had packed and remained disciplined.18 -

It was the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Chicamaugua, complete with about 2800 reenactors. I got roped into volunteering for three days. My ears are still ringing. From the cannons, but mostly from the complaints of spectators who had to walk up that stupid hill.
You’d have thought it was Everest from the bellyaching.13 -
Re-joining FP has been the best thing I have done for myself in years! While, I am not yet in a smaller size, the clothes that I have been wearing actually fit me as they should and are getting looser. Most of my chub rolls are gone. My NSV is belief in myself again! I feel stronger physically and mentally.23

I went to starbucks and didn't get a drink :-( I'm hoping to go back when I have money and get a pumpkin frappacino. Not sure how good it'll be.9

I won't have that problem, as I've never tried one lol. I'm keen to try the Christmas drinks as well.6 -
Today I climbed out of the pool. Like, by pushing myself up over the side. And it was easy! I no longer have to roll my blubber over the lane dividers in order to take the stairs, lmao20

This made me laugh and reminded me of a funny, recurring line from a character in the BBC show Ghosts (brilliant if you can get access to it, superior to the subsequent US version, in my opinion). He’s the ghost of a World War II army captain, and occasionally when someone else is a naysayer, he retorts, “We didn’t win the war with that attitude, now, did we?”*
* not to be interpreted as an endorsement of the Confederate victory at Chickamauga

I got to the point where I didn't want to track anymore because I was low on calories and I could not stop eating, so instead of going out and buying more food, I went to bed early.16

My daily step average for 2023 is now above 10 000 😃 and apple is finally telling me that I’m taking more steps this year than last (2022 was around 9500 daily in the end).20

Mine is how in love with my arms I am right now. Cutting weight = visible muscle that was hiding there all along from lifting for a year. I look great!😊👌🤣
Sorry to be so full of myself but I will never not be proud of this body I’m working hard for. Now just need to maintain weight……28 -
I was at an event recently and some of the people I just saw at the beginning of May. I showed them a picture from the beginning of May and none of them could tell it was me in the picture. I haven't lost much weight, but I look like I have!22

I was always the skinny but soft girl picked dead last for any sport team. I’ve had a little muscle on arms and sometimes calves but never in my life had anything but squish for thighs or abs.
After some weight lifting, I finally have some muscle in my upper legs, abdominal area, and back. It’s alien to me.
My abs are not visible, still have a small layer of fat over them, but it feels crazy to me that I can feel a wall of muscle under there. My back feels nice andsolid to the touch as well. And I don’t recognize my flexed thighs (and the muscle there is, while not massive, visible).21 -
Now that I've gotten really serious about weight loss again instead of just loosely maintaining with a small overage, I'm on day 12 of being solidly back on plan. Even though I'm more limited in the exercise I have access to than I was, I have managed to move somewhat each day, started stretching again at bedtime, and not gone over in calories once. No real losses yet either so I've done all that without scale encouragement. But, my body feels better and is starting to get trimmer - I can see it in my face already. So, a real NSV!19

I haven't been going to McDonalds as often as I can for the Monopoly game that is on this month and next month in New Zealand, as I would have for the last few years.
I bent over to cut my nails yesterday, and I don't think I've been able to do that before.19 -
Walked up a local mountain this afternoon with my husband and daughter. I haven't been up there in years. It was tough - I had to stop and catch my breath a few times!
But sooo glad I did it. And the view from the top is beautiful. We plan to do it regularly now.

I was at physical therapy and the PY Assistant handed me a 15 pound weight to move with. And I thought, that weight is about what I’ve lost in this latest round, and it’s heavy! No wonder I feel better without it!28

I went grocery shopping yesterday and left the store without any "treats". I bypassed them all, including my favorite gelato that was $3 off. Sang a little song in the car on the way home.24
