Hey everyone!
I lost 4lbs last month in November's challenge. My challenge this month is maintenance, more or less.
I weigh on Tuesdays because weighing on Fridays gives me a false reading... I always weigh less on a Friday than on a Monday.
Happy to have kept off November's loss. :-)11 -
Hi All,
I weighed in today and it wasn't as bad as I thought. My starting weight is 180. My fight right now is that I tore my meniscus in my knee and the baker's cyst in the back of my knee ruptured last week so I'm dealing with that which obviously blew me off my treadmill and any type of exercise with my leg. I need some suggestions as to what exercises I can do without using my legs. Corina 1143, THANK YOU. I needed that so much right now. I don't need "It's ok sweetie, everything will be ok", I need, "Get your act together and get back on the diet !" Thank you all for the motivation. I have missed that so much.

Do you only weigh yourself once a week? If so, you can expect some significant fluctuations that may or may not just be anomalies. Weight loss is not linear. What I do is weigh every day and try not to pay too attention to that number. I put the number in a spreadsheet and then look at a trend. I calculate a 7-day average once a week, and I keep a running 10-day moving average. I also run a weighted moving average that also looks back ten days. This is a good approach because it gives a higher importance to today's weight than to your weight several days ago with the least impact from the number ten days ago. I get plenty of fluctuations, and the averaging smooths them out.
As an example from my own real data over the last couple weeks, if I look at my weight over a certain four-day period, I would have thought I gained 5.2 pounds. If I had looked at a four-day period that started the previous day, I would have thought I lost weight. If I look at the seven-day period that ends today, I would think I had actually lost 9.2 pounds. I doubt it. If I look at my weighted moving average over the last seven days, I can confirm I'm losing, but only 2.1 pounds. This is an unusual weight loss because I'm sick, but it's a good example.
For a deeper explanation of how it works, check out The Hackers Diet - especially the pages on Signal & Noise.
There are online tools that do all the math for you.

I have a holiday event tomorrow at noon with my high school friend's home. I will get some steps in at Costco or Sam's Club today too. I really hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season.

I had been very discouraged over the last several days. I've been taking the stairs at work, weighing food, going for a 3 mile walk/jog every other night and just being on-it. The scale each morning was up over 201+. I decided to just ignore that since I KNEW I was doing the things. Today I had to blink 3 times when I saw the number. I'm taking it, as I truly don't think it is a fluke.
I'm convincing myself that the couple of treats ON Christmas will taste even better if I've stuck-to this.
Good luck y'all--I feel like I'm in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory10 -

December 15: 260.0 I was pleasantly surprised when I returned from my trip having had less control on some of my eating options; I actually lost a pound. I will take that anytime I can get it. Maybe next week I will get back in the fifties club. I'm sure the sixties club people will be happy to see me go because I have been there a longggggggggg time.
