    Merry Christmas.

So in Norway the big day was yesterday. We ate pork rib. Which everyone but me seems to enjoy. There was various kinds of julekaker ( Christmas cookies) I made three kinds at home. Mil brought 4 so we wound up with 7 kinds.
At work I wound up making nine and a liqueur.

You guys have no concept of how much cake batter I have eaten in the last month. My body is really hating on the sugar, gluten, fat and salt of it all. But it's everywhere and I seem to always be chewing. I can't wait for January where it all will disappear from sight.

12/19-179.2-(Trend Weight: 179.7)- Weight is up but trend weight is down which shows the rollercoaster I’ve been on this week. I had two birthday parties and multiple travels. Tis the Season!

12/25-178.2-(Trend Weight: 179.2)- I’m definitely shocked at this weight today, I really thought it would be up. Last minute yesterday my foodie DD, my DGS, my S and I decided to head out-of-town to find a nice dinner somewhere. Our family dinner is not until Saturday the 30th. About an hour away we found a hotel with a very nice restaurant (we’ve eaten here before). I had a lovely pot roast dinner which provided some leftovers for later. I had some Kringle pastry later at home (too much) and one glass of wine. I also had a couple of mini reese cups (6 is a couple, right?). Not enough water and no exercise. So you see why I am surprised? The only thing I can figure is that it was basically one meal only for the day (plus all the sugar-laden junk). Also, TMI was good. I have already broke back into the Kringle this morning with my coffee. I’m worried about today. If I can stick to some go-to “diet” meals I usually have, maybe I’ll be okay. However, I did find a stocking on the fireplace mantle with my name on it. It’s a bit skimpy compared to years past but it’s not empty. At least not yet. Merry Christmas, my online friends. And if you don’t celebrate, know that I’m wishing you a wonderful 2024.

Missed the year end goal by a handful of pounds. But still down overall! Can’t believe I started October almost 30 lbs heavier. Thank you for the challenge! Looking forward to the next season and losing more as we get into the new year!

I did it! I’m 65.5 lbs down, which means I’m half-way to my ultimate goal weight. My rate of weight loss is a bit too speedy now for my current weight range, so I’m going to increase my calories a little to slow things down. It feels like I’m starting to work on my maintenance strategy (even though I have a ways to go yet). I’m very pleased with how this year has gone for me. Hope to see you all again in the Winter Challenge!

There are only hours left in the year.
The child fireworks have gone boom so that kids can go to bed. Dog seemed fine with the boom and blinking. But was really upset there were so many strangers and nobody came and toold her she was pretty.

Turkey to day it is so good I am going to try to remember to have turkey meat on days that is not new years in 2024. We get small breast piece these days don't have to buy an entire bird.

My new years resolution last year was to not weigh more than 80 kilos. So I will take the victory and not worry that I could have done better.

The dog is so big it requires lots of walking. So lots of excerize that comes for free in the new year.

12/31-183.8-(Trend Weight: 180.2)- ”Pulling hair out on both sides of head” Yiiikesssss! It looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me!!!!! You are NOT GOING TO BELIEVE what my secret Santa present was. (We buy for children and draw names for adults only). Get ready for this…..Hundreds of dollars worth of Chocolate!!!! It is designed to be 365 days of chocolate with a piece (or a serving as listed) for each day of the coming year. Every expensive and fancy brand you can think of. And my secret person was MY FOODIE DAUGHTER that is here so often. Excuse me….how many talks have I had with her 100 pound frame about how I am trying to improve my diet and LOSE WEIGHT? Has she forgotten that I am a DIABETIC? By the way, NOT ONE PIECE is sugar-free chocolate. It was accompanied by multiple bottles of Asti and some very nice lotion. She had purchased a wrapping paper hanging tote thingy and filled the clear pockets with the poison. It was so heavy that she had to have one of the men carry it in for her. WTH? I must tell you that my daughter is the type of person who could actually just eat one small piece or one little truffle per day and have no problem stopping at one. I am not. I am trying to formulate a plan. Simply freezing it will not work as I have no problem melting chocolate in my mouth. On top of all that, I’m still loaded down with Christmas Cookies and fudge from our gathering as well. My head has been spinning since I opened the gift last night! Help! Total Loss this round 4.4 lbs. Reflection for the year 2023: I lost a total of 16 pounds and greatly improved my blood glucose numbers. I also learned to eat some new foods that are good for my health and my waistline! Happy New Years Eve to you all! Stay safe out there!

@deepwoodslady I only say this because you literally asked for help: get rid of the chocolate NOW. Don’t think about freezing it or making it ok in some other way. There is no plan you can make that will allow you to eat this ridiculous amount of chocolate without hurting your resolve, blood sugar, long-term health, weight loss progress, and self-respect.

It may have been expensive for your daughter to buy, but it is less than worthless for you. You wouldn’t buy this for yourself, and the fact that someone gave it to you as a gift does not improve it in any way.

Donate the chocolates to a nonprofit for a fundraiser, or a hospital or some other place where lots of people can share it. Stand outside your supermarket and hand it out to people as a random act of chocolate. Or, you know, throw it out if you must. You’ll thank yourself later.

P.S. Whatever you do, don’t pass on the whole thing to one single person. It’ll be a burden to them as well.

I think some people see giving people struggling with weight. chocolate as a way of saying we like you the way you are. Without contemplating that. Everything is easier when you are not obese. Good luck what ever you decide to do with the chocolate.
