First run of the year and I thought I was home dry but no, it rained for the last 1/4 mile. Not too bad though
Thanks for adding me @SummerSkier it will be a great motivation to get the runs in!

Anyone here has had a chronic patellar injury? Did using a knew brace to run help you?
I’m planning on getting back to running, but not at the risk of hurting my knee. Lately I’ve been using mostly the elliptical as it is gentle on the knee.
Thank you4 -
January Goal: 125 miles
1/1: 3.26 miles
1/2: 6.02 miles
9.28/125 miles completed for January
Oh my gosh! It was so cold this morning. It was 28°F. I think it got up to 30°F or 32°F by the end of the run, but it still felt like 27°F. I actually wore a jacket. I usually just wear two pairs of sleeves when it is cold. I was pretty chilly for most of the run, but I would have been overdressed if it hadn't been dark. Other than being cold, it was a pretty uneventful run. It is raining now but it is supposed to clear up and be 41°F in the morning. I think I'll like that a lot better.
@elizury If you are looking for a chatty group, you came to the right place.
@mari33a Congrats on your weight loss! That is awesome!

I am fortunate and haven't had any chronic knee issues. I just happened to watch "The Knee Over Toes Guy" yesterday.
The vid was a PT who focuses on knee strengthening and recovery. YMMV

Congrats on the great weight loss in 2023 @Mari33a ! Nice running today too. I don't mind getting caught out in the rain, but I have a hard time starting outside when it is raining already.
Welcome @elizury . Do you mind telling us how long ago that HS career was? I think you will enjoy this group.
@emptydog Glad your plans for New Year's Eve worked out. I love that you ran the half mile to the hike and then back to your car. That's a great way to get the workout in. Hahaha about your cat glaring at you as you did crazy laps today. They can be so judgmental.
Your slow is my fast @SummerSkier ! You are doing great.
Nice wun @project9percent .
Congrats on getting faster @daria0919 !
Sorry you are injured @tatilove1988 . I can't help you with your question though.
That is a chilly run @kgirlhart ! You did great. I hope tomorrow is better, temperature wise.
Nice mile run @kbrown1527 .5 -
Jan 1 - Walked 2.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
Jan 2 - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 2.00 miles - treadmill
5.00/85.00 mile goal
I did a treadmill session this morning before heading into work at noon. I did a run/walk for 5/2 min at 4.5-4.7/4.0 mph, 3/1/1:36 min at 4.8/4.0/6.0 mph. Avg pace was 13:14 min/mile. Avg HR was 127 with a max of 150 bpm. It was a bit of a struggle today, as my legs just didn't want to work. I'm glad I had a time constraint that limited how long I could run.7 -
Good morning! I have a busy day ahead and decided to get up a little early to get a quick 1.25mi jog in doing laps.
5.25/100 done!

What do your diets look like??
I’m struggling a lot with my diet. I’ve been eating higher protein and splitting my remaining macros between carbs and fat and that worked great with how much lifting I was doing. Then when I started researching diet for endurance/cardio based workouts it says to eat mostly carbs. When I eat more carbs I just get tired! They’re good carbs too.. rice, sweet potatoes, oatmeal etc.
Not sure if I should stick with it for a while or go back to what I was doing. Or adjust it until I get what I feel best eating.
Macros were 40p/30f/30c
Now 30p/25f/45c3 -

Mine's pretty bad. This running group is very wide-ranging, for instance "Math" came up awhile ago. Imagine that.
In MFP the number one tool for diet and nutrition is to log all of your food into the Food Diary. Do you do that? Second, open it up and share your Food Diary with "MFP Friends" or "Everyone." That's this website's gold standard for dealing with nutrition and food choices. I need to take my own suggestion.
Do you log your food in the MFP Food Diary? Do you share it?0 -
@chris_in_cal yes I do log my food in the diary and it is public2

@chris_in_cal good going Sir! I, absolutely over-indulged last half of December. And then some.
Liver is like foie-gras now! lol3 -
@kbrown1527 your macros look fine, but food / diet varies widely for every person. You really just have to experiment with what works best for you and try to stay consistent (enough) to make it work for you.
Good Luck!!!!3
