Finding my way to a better me.....

Hi, I'm Ann, I'm 43 and live in Queensland, Australia. I've been on my weight loss journey for a week now as I gained weight after my Hysterectomy in 2022.

I avoided the scales and when I finally got on them, I was horrified to see I reached the triple digits (kg), not far over but enough to shock me into doing something about it as I also now have 2 bulging discs in my neck that are pressing on nerves to my left shoulder and arm, which causes excruciating pain. I also have a heal spur (left foot) which acts up if I'm standing or walking for too long so I need to lose 40kg to live somewhat pain free.

I used to go to PT classes pre covid and then I stopped losing weight and motivation so here I am giving it another go and hoping I truly don't lose focus and the will to keep going with this journey as I need to better my health, body and mind in the long run.

I'm hoping by logging my food, water and any exercise I can do will keep me motivated and excited enough to just keep going. I don't really have anyone to keep me on track as my family are skinnier and more fit than I am anyway LOL! So I am also hoping this community will give me the support and advice I need if I'm ever doubting myself.

Thanks for reading if you got this far. 👍

    Welcome aboard!

There's plenty of support to go around here. The first step may be to set some goals and then develop strategies to achieve them. Good goals are specific, measurable, and have a deadline. They also should be tough but not so tough you can't succeed. It wouldn't hurt to poke around some of the "Most Helpful Posts" to get some ideas and then set those goals and work on them.
Once you've got those goals, one main thing to keep in mind is to STICK TO IT and also that you are the only one who can hold yourself accountable. Then there's the bad news; motivation won't get you far. It runs out. You need to set goals and develop habits. More bad news: As far as motivation goes, are you motivated to go to work each day? Do you go? Are you motivated to brush your teeth? Do you brush them? Those are habits. Fitness and weight management are the same. You have to develop habits.

The good news? You can do this! Just get started and stick to it. If you have a day where you don't succeed, that's OK. Everyone does. Just get back started immediately. Don't wait until next week or even tomorrow. Get back after it NOW!
