@Leigh_b , @tarun_yadavA and @Scott6255 I have cousins that live in Cold Water MI and am planning to go up this May for a wedding.
Congratulations @ContraryMaryMary ! You did great.
Hahaha @tarun_yadavA . At least she tried to have some healthy foods for you! The cinnamon buns look yummy. Once when I was in the AF, I came home around my birthday, and was going to have to weigh in when I got back, so I told my parents I couldn't have cake. They improvised and drilled holes in a carrot to put candles in to blow out. My carrot cake. It sounds like you are all compromising well on the TV time.
Nice "shuffle" @chris_in_cal .

I walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill between church and lunch today. Nothing exciting. I didn't sleep well again. Seems I do one night and not the next. If that's the case, I should sleep great tonight.
I finally made 100 mile mark for the year!7 -

I didn't think I would be able to run this weekend, but we had a break in the rain this morning so I was able to get out for a run. I only had time for 8 miles, but it felt really good to get out and run. It was cloudy and windy, but not wet and it was warmer this morning than it is now. They said we might get snow. It's cold, but not that cold. It is raining though, and the rain is kind of slushy.
@quilteryoyo I don't care fir the smell of skunks, but my husband is one if those people who like it from a distance.
Congratulations on your unplanned Half Marathon @ContraryMaryMary.

@AlphaHowls OMG 😭0

Need to catch up on posts…..
Great job @ContraryMaryMary on your unplanned race!
@quilteryoyo I hope you rest up and are able to work your way back to a somewhat more regular routine. You’ve been through a lot lately.
Great runs by so many of you! Way to go!
Back home now after a very busy week away.
Not much time to walk, but got in 0.6 Wednesday, 1.75 Thursday and 2 miles today, first day of the 10K training schedule.
February total to date:

@AlphaHowls - That is so tragic! I remember when he won the Chicago Marathon and set the men's world record. So sad!
@ContraryMaryMary - congratulations on your expected HM. You I'll be back in top form before you know it and finishing the next one without walking!
@quilteryoyo - I am glad you are feeling better and I hope you can get back to regular good sleep!
I am one who dislikes the smell of skunks. I honestly didn't know that there are people who like it or don't dislike it.
I love your folks sense of humor with the carrot cake!
@tarun_yadavA - great running away from home and I am sure your mom figures it evens out with healthy food and cinnamon rolls. You need the calories to support all that running, right? I am not a big fan of cinnamon rolls, especially with icing. Plain ones aren't too bad...
I have gotten out the last 2 days for 3 mile walks each. Today I tried to run a bit but had shoes on that I thought would be ok for short bits of running but my legs let me know that wasn't the case. So far I have 17.17 miles for the month.4 -
So sad about Kelvin Kiptum, not just that he was a phenomenal runner poised on the edge of the next unbelievable running milestone, but simply that he was so young. Heartbroken for his family and friends, and of course those of his coach too.2
-
Morning all.
Got in 5 (at 09"37)
So sad about Kelvin. RIP 🙏🏽
Saw him whizz past only last year... 😢
@quilteryoyo thank you! LOL @ drilled holes in the carrot!
@shanaber thank you!
Yes - that's an internet meme thing already... My mum - "Grandmother math". For every carrot, there's a cinnamon roll. LOL
Oooohhh love Cinnamon rolls though - doubly so with icing for me!
Already thinking ahead to my next Stateside visit when i see family... and try squeeze in a Cheesecake Factory visit to get that Cinnabon cinnamon swirl cheesecake. 🤤🤤🤤
Hope you guys across the pond enjoyed your Superbowl Sunday?
Woke upto a few expletives on Cousins group chat from my SF brother and sis in law LOL.
Any Swifties here? Hahahaha

@AlphaHowls That is so sad!!! I can't believe it. So young, and had so much ahead. I really believe he could have broken 2hrs.
@chris_in_cal I really liked the video. He really stuck it out and I think many runners can identify with "silly" time goals that matter so much to the individual but nothing to anybody else. My ultimate marathon goal is to get under 4hrs. I don't know that I am willing to push the rock up the hill that many times and I am starting off at already around 40, so it might never happen (which I can definitely live with). I have a much more modest goal for my next race and am not even going to attempt to run that fast.
Yesterday I took the two oldest kids out for a jog. I need to do that more often, because they couldn't handle more than one loop around the block. We ran/walked 1.3km. Today, I went on a longish run of 14km, making sure to keep the pace easy. Tomorrow I am planning another 3hr run and am hoping that it goes well.
95.4/200km for February.7 -
Hi. I'm late to join the group this month. I caught a cold that's been doing the rounds and because it was so cold outside I didn't go running to try get over it faster. Got 2 runs last week and still going to aim for 50 miles.
07/02 3.52 miles
09/02 3.67 miles
Total 7.19/50miles6 -
@AlphaHowls Such horrible news.
Nice unplanned run @kgirlhart .
Thanks @daria0919 . You did great getting in some walks while you were away. I find it really hard to run on vacation, but my streak has pushed me to at least get a mile of walking every day when I'm away.
Thanks @shanaber . You are doing great this month and glad you didn't push it with the wrong shoes.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . I love the Cheesecake Factory. It's a good thing there isn't one anywhere near where I live, as far as I know.....and I don't want to know.
You are doing great @Laurz9191 . I hope your kids will continue to get out with you for some short, then longer, runs. You are a great example to them.
I'm glad you are feeling better @Mari33a .3 -
Great unplanned HM @ContraryMaryMary
Nice work on reaching the 100 mark @quilteryoyo
Felling positive vibes for your results @chris_in_cal
My non-exertion 'zen' is a bit of sensory depravation for me @polskagirl01 . Either complete blackout or some soft led lights, ear plugs, nice and warm so cosy, nothing to do but think. P.S. Loving the poop cookies - you should trademark that!
Now, who ever has my voodoo doll, you had your fun now pass it on. My back is almost recovered after throwing it out at the start of Jan, still not over the cough and cold I've had for two weeks, and now a dog tries to bite me 5k into my run. Give it up, nothing is going to stop my run!
Nothing other than the fact I felt dead after 12 miles on Saturday. Really wanted a half in 2.5 hours though it was not to be. Using SIS gels without effect. One more try this weekend.
It seems like this year has to get better for us - so it will!

Just wanted to see how running works now that antihistames do their thing. Not really that good yet. Just too many pollen outside as it's far too warm. I'll still try to pick up my running programme again.7 -
Just a slow 5k for me this morning as my head is very stuffy with this stupid cold. Fortunately, as my daughters have just had it, I know it only lasts for three days and today's day three for me so I should be right tomorrow. Husband is on day one!9
-
Thanks @TheMrWobbly . Sounds like you've had a tough year so far. Glad you have persevered and continue to run. Twelve miles is a long run! Hang in there and keep trying. You'll get that 2.5 hour HM someday. (Did you watch the video that @chris_in_cal shared?)
@yirara I hope the pollen leaves soon so you can breathe again. Hang in there.
@ContraryMaryMary I'm glad it isn't a long lived cold and that you should be okay tomorrow. I hope your DH gets better soon too.4 -

The driveway was still wet and rain was forecast, but the temp was 54F (12.2C) and I really wanted the fresh air, so decided for another wun - walking where I knew it was slick, plus other times. It felt pretty good today.

@ContraryMaryMary hate it when sickness travels through the family. I guess it's really inevitable tho. Glad you are at the tail end of it, and hopefully it will be flushed from your household in a few days.
Finally got to run again after a week off. My brother came to town last weekend, and stayed an extra day, so we got to run 8.24 miles together this evening. Felt
good. And got my favorite stats... distance matching pace (8.24 miles @8:24 pace)😊
12 -
I'm picturing poor @tarun_yadavA sitting there eating carrots and pepper slices, while everyone else eats those cinnamon rolls! Good for you if you can do it. I personally would find that difficult, and would find a way to compromise.
@ContraryMaryMary congrats on the half! I think it's a great accomplishment just to be able to run a half marathon whenever you want (or whenever you remember you signed up for a race)!8 -
Hi everyone!
I just got finished with my long run, or it finished me! It was 30.1km. The first 10km, I felt like I could run forever. I did have a strong inkling though that the second half of the run would be tough as it is windy and I had a considerable tail wind. After my turn around point I had a huge headwind which was mentally quite tough to adjust to. I no longer felt like I could run forever or even to the car . So, all in all, it was a tough run, but I am proud I was able to get it done.
125.6/200km for February.12 -
Hello everyone
Got in 5.75M (at 09'35 pace).
@Scott6255 8.24 at 8"24 ! Rainman! Great running through 💪🏽
@polskagirl01 no. I succumbed. 🙈 Have been munching on the carrots and red peppers... But did eat the cinnamon roll in the end too
@Laurz9191 awesome running! 🙌🏽8 -

Masses of antihistamines, and running is getting better again. Not totally good, because today I hyperventilated during running. Oh well... I kind of have the feeling I won't reach my goal this month 😅7 -
