@Laurz9191 - I hope your daughter gets well soon and that you or the rest of the family don't get it!
@tarun_yadavA - love that your son got out for another run with you! Will tomorrow be #50 for your streak?
I agree with @quilteryoyo on the color of the filling. I like pistachio ok but not sure I could deal with that color.😂
I have gotten out for a couple of walks and then life got in the way. So today I was determined to get out and since I won't be able to get out much the next few days (more treatment and rain is coming) I wanted to get in a good one today. We haven't been over to the trail in months so headed that way thinking I might run some or might just walk depending on how I felt. It felt so good to be over there, we have missed it! So we ran a good bit today other than the 1st 0.25mi. I also did a 1mi cooldown walk home. I have met my nominal 25mi goal and am just 2.5mi from 30mi! Depending on how soon they will allow me to get back out I may even hit 35 or 40! If I get there it would be my highest month since April of last year!10 -

Morning all.
Got in 5 (09"41 pace).
Made it to 50!!
@daria0919 @shanaber @quilteryoyo thanks ladies for all the kind words! ☺️9 -
@chris_in_cal, @tarun_yadavA @quilteryoyo @shanaber I also have to give a major shout out for the kind words! It really does help! I really want to give myself the best shot possible for a big PB. So far so good, but there are still 1.5 months of training to go. It has been hard, fun, interesting, boring- you name the emotion - it's been there, but all in all it's been an overwhelmingly postive training cycle.
@Leigh_b That sounds like a really hard run. Icy paths and dangerous traffic sounds like some of the worst conditions you can have while running. And, even though it might not have been as fast as it would have been in other conditions, you got it done and got home safe!
@SummerSkier I hope your poor cat is doing better!!!
Today I went for an easy 10.3km run in the mist. There were puddles and mud galore but my feet stayed dry in my waterproof ghosts. Tomorrow I have my longest run for the week planned and am motivated to test out some new fueling stuff I ordered. 175.5/200km for February.9 -
@Leigh_b That run sounds so hard! One of those runs where you’re just ready for it to be over. I like to call those mental toughness runs. It feels like the product isn’t necessarily building fitness, but rather building toughness. Good job sticking with it!
@tarun_yadavA Congrats on 50 days! Keeping it going?
@SummerSkier I hope your cat is feeling better. It’s so hard when pets are unwell because they can’t tell you what’s going on and you can only do so much to provide comfort. We just had one of ours in to see the vet for what turned out to be an upper respiratory infection. He was also limping a little and the vet said he probably just landed weird. They have him antibiotics and a pain killer shot that was supposed to last a few days. Luckily, that did the trick and he’s back to his playful, howling self.
@Laurz9191 I’m happy to hear your training cycle has gone so well! It’s such a confidence builder to go into a race feeling like training went well and you’re ready.6 -

Beautiful morning today! It was mid 30’s, clear, sunny, low humidity. Just absolutely perfect. It’s taper week, though I don’t know that I really need it. I haven’t been able to get to the intensity or the mileage that I was doing leading up to my January race. I don’t feel capable of racing in the same way and my Garmin is losing faith as well. My estimated HM time is about 3 minutes slower right now that Garmin was estimating heading into my last race.
The weather for this weekend is looking really good and I wish I was in better condition to race. But it’s probably not going to happen so I’m planning on just running by feel and trying to have a good time.8 -
I am pretty grateful I was able to run today. I fought get out, but afterwards I now get to reap the rewards. I have had a lot going on, so I'm patting myself on the back for holding it somewhat together until the storm blows over.
February Running Goal: 13 runs,40 miles- Feb 2 -2.87 miles

Well done @chris_in_cal on your patience and persistence!
Good luck on your race this weekend @martaindale!
Finally got outside for a run... after another missed week.
Replaced the Puma shoes with another pair of Endorphin Speed 3s.
Just did a short 4 miles to test the Achilles. Felt good.7 -
@shanaber You did great with the run/walk on the trail. Those pictures are beautiful. I hope they let you get back out and running again soon. Hobbes looks great. I also hope the rain's aren't too bad in your area!
@chris_in_cal I hope the rains aren't horrible in your area either. You did great today!!!
It sounds like you are doing great with your training plan @Laurz9191 ! Fingers crossed for a PB on your race.
@martaindale I'm glad your cat (pet) is back to it's normal self. You are doing great. Sometimes running by feel gets you there faster than if you are trying to maintain a pace - says the person who can never maintain a pace. But I have been surprised by my pace sometimes when I am just going by feel. You have a great attitude going into the race. I hope you really enjoy it.
Great run @Scott6255 . I'm glad your Achilles felt good.4 -

According to Garmin, I only slept 4 hours last night, and I think it was generous. I think it was probably more like three. I went to bed early, but just couldn't get to sleep. I'm beginning to think I have restless leg syndrome. Mom has it and there are some nights that I just can't lay still once it get to bed.
After spending the day (6:30 am - 3:45 pm) with six 3 - 4 year olds, I was tired, so chose to just walk one mile on the driveway before calling it a day.

@Leigh_b that run sounds horrible. Chalk it up as a training run for the mind.
@Laurz9191 just keep washing your hands! I have my fingers crossed for you, avoiding germs from the smalls is hard.
You’ve got the right idea @martaindale, and you never know - you might surprise yourself. And don’t pay too much attention to what your Garmin says - it’s a watch, it can’t incorporate your mindset into its algorithm.
@daria0919 sound like a good day! And you too @shanaber
Rest day for me today and did I ever need it. I had a short run yesterday morning but then, as it was the first day everyone’s been back at school and work since November and I had the house to myself, I promptly embarked on a bunch of overdue chores, from cleaning the car to weeding the lawn. I think I may have overdone it slightly and cooked myself.
Today I’ve mooched more than I wanted to as there’s still a lot of work to do in the garden. I did spend two hours pulling weeds and deadheading roses but the rubbish bin got filled up and I was forced to stop (thankfully). I was planning on mowing the lawn but forgot about it until I was in the shower so instead lay on my bed and read until school pickup.
I’m now watching both my girls at their swimming lesson thinking how I really should start doing laps again but I find swimming lengths so boring, and the chlorine smell lasts forever. One day…9 -

Yup. I’m in New Zealand.3 -
Morning all.
Got in another 5! (09"37 pace).
@Scott6255 - great comeback run! 👊🏽
@martaindale - don't know. Should now stop at the next sign of soreness now, I feel. Upto 51. Which is my previous highest streak (back end of last year). Will almost certainly do one more tomorrow - to beat that. Beyond that... A friend did point out that, with it being a leap year - 31 and 29 makes a nice round 60. And you can say you can all of January and February. So there's that 🤷
@Laurz9191 killing it!!!!9 -
Good morning all,
I ran 5 miles with a friend this morning. It was a bit chilly at 25F. I was happy to get in my car and turn the seat warmers on when we finished!
@martaindale - Good luck this weekend!
@Scott6255 - Hope you're achilles continues to give you no pain. Do you think it was those new shoes that you tried that aggravated it?
@tarun_yadavA - I think your friend is on to something. Jan/Feb streak would be a good one for the books!
@shanaber - Love the pictures and Hobbes is looking as dapper as ever! I hope your treatments go well and you spring back to your usual level of activity.7 -

20/02 3.68 miles
Total 29.55/50miles
Got 2 runs in, yesterday evening and this morning. Yesterday's was quite good but the wind made today's very tough. At times I cud barely run against it. The forecast had said the morning was going to be the best part of the day, which made me get out there and now it's changed to the wind settling down in the evening. Just can't win so I'll call this run character building!
9 -
@Scott6255 Great run! Hope your foot continues to be pain free.
@tarun_yadavA I think you should at least break your record, but 60 would be cool (not that I would do it myself, but you are almost there). As long as your legs and body aren't too sore.
@chris_in_cal Good job getting out there, even if the weather is maybe not idea.
I was planning on doing a long run today and finally getting some elevation in. I made it a point not to look at my watch at all and just concentrate on running form and being relaxed, so I was very surprised when I got done that I actually had quite good splits and HR. Today I also wanted to try this Maurten sports drink on the run and see if it's something I want to use during my marathon. After the first sip it tasted like I was basically drinking sugar water, but as my run went on I surprisingly enjoyed it and I didn't get the neausea I've gotten at the end of my last two long runs. I also took a Maurten gel with caffeine which I hadn't tried before. I split it up, so I wouldn't get over glucosed, as I had to down it with the sports drink. It bascially had no taste other than a bit of sweetness and are really easy to swallow compared to GU or any other gel. Anyway, that was my run, the highlight of which was that the SUN came out for a few minutes! I haven't seen actual sunlight for a couple weeks, so I truly enjoyed it. I ran 25.5km.
Although I didn't plan it, I reached my month goal of 200/200km. I think I will go for breaking my January kms now, so at least 50km.6 -
@ContraryMaryMary That does NOT sound like a rest day to me! Glad you got a lot accomplished.
Nice running @Teresa502 . It was pretty cold this morning.
Great character building run @Mari33a . The wind can make it so tough.
Great run @laurz9191. I really need to work more on fueling during long runs, when I get back to them.4 -

Oh WOW @AlphaHowls, that sky is incredible!3
-
Amazing photos @AlphaHowls I think I like the 2nd one best for capturing all the wonders.
I managed to find some of the Nike proto Alphafly3's to try with a lunch time sprint today and WOW. My fastest time ever for 2 miles (under a 9 min pace) which is saying a lot. Felt like i was flying. If I ever were to race i think binging about 2 days before would time my energy well. LOL. sigh.
Scott, glad you sent those BAD kitties back and got some better shoes. I wonder what about the style upset your achilles.
Closing in on 120 for the month. Maybe stretch goal of 130. Weather looks to be cooperative which is strangely unusual for Feb in Tx but I will take it.
11 -
@ContraryMaryMary sounds like a great day to me! Working outdoors in the yard is so satisfying. I too can’t stand the chlorine smell. Would much rather run than swim any day.
Nice run today @tarun_yadavA. I agree, @Laurz9191 is killing it!
Great job getting in the 5 miles in 25F @Teresa502! I agree, @shanaber’s dog Hobbes is dapper, and also adorable!
Nice runs @Mari33a.
@Scott6255 so glad the new shoes are better. Hope that achilles continues to heel (I mean heal!)
@AlphaHowls amazing miles, as always! Love that middle photo - very dramatic.
@SummerSkier amazing miles this month! Way to go!
I did 1 mile on the walking pad yesterday just to stretch my legs a bit.
Did 3 miles this afternoon outdoors, beautiful 53F sunny wog, 15:47 pace.
7 -
Great running @AlphaHowls ! That sunrise is beautiful!
Congrats on your fastest 2 miles ever @SummerSkier ! That's an amazing pace!

I did a driveway wun this afternoon. It was really nice out at 57F (13.9C) and sunny. I just wasn't feeling like putting in the effort to run a lot. What I did felt great. My best pace was 10:25 min/mile...it just didn't last long.8 -

I went down to the hotel treadmill after work and managed 2.5 miles before I was just done. But something is better than nothing. I also walked to and from work, a mile each way so I felt better about doing such a short run.6 -
Oops - forgot to update. I got some Gabipentin on Sat for the kitty and so far it has turned out to REALLY help her. I did not know it was useful for pain management in cats but apparently so. I have only seen it used for nerve pain management in humans. Anyway, she is moving a lot better and even jumped up on a few counters the past few days.9

@SummerSkier glad your cat is feeling better. Better living through drugs I always say
@Teresa502 yes, those Puma Deviate Nitro 2 shoes is what cause my Achilles pain. Just a single run (4 miles I think) and I was toast. I guess my fragile bones can't handle those carbon plated super shoes.
6 miles this evening. 79F , 17mph south wind! 🥵🔥 This is still February, right?
No wonder it felt quite a bit harder than it should have.8 -
I had a good run this morning - did my usual 8km loop in under 50 minutes for the first time since November. Had to work for it though, but happy nevertheless. Now to do it without any walk breaks! Step by step.
Got home and did the lawns and line trimming - took nearly three hours but another good job done. I think I’ll be lazy for the rest of the afternoon!

94/130 miles completed for February
I ran 6 miles this morning. It was about 48°F. It felt a little cooler than that to me, but it was still pretty nice running weather. It was a mostly uneventful run. There were two little dogs that sort of chased me near the end of the run. There is a hospital about .25 miles from my house. I was about a block away from there when I saw the first one. I decided to turn early and then I noticed the second dog. They started heading towards me barking. But I was a good block ahead of them and I crossed the highway and they didn't follow. I hope they won't be there tomorrow. I run past the hospital at least one on almost all of my runs. I love dogs, but not when I am running. And I am really more worried about being bitten by a small dog than a larger dog.
